Title: DC vs. Marvel pt. 21

Marx - December 20, 2004 05:46 AM (GMT)
DC: 11
Marvel: 5

Yeah, I know it's only been Monday for 42 minutes but eh, I'm not sleepy at the moment so I thought I'd go ahead with the new contest. I know absolutely nothing about either of the two participants, though from the names I'm assuming they know martial arts. :P

Couldn't care either way. Neither one ever caught my attention.

I've read very little on both characters since neither one drew my attention really. One character is supposed to have trained all across the universe, the other has learned just about martial arts on earth and many many others in alternate dimensions and such. From what I gather from bios I've read, they both look at Martial Arts from a metaphsyical stand-point as appose to kicking ass and taking names.

All I know is Karate Kid sounds like more of a joke-character who should be saying stuff like 'wax-on/wax'off' while Iron Fist sounds a bit more intimidating and he's a tad more popular amongst comic fans.

But in the end, I flipped a coin, since I don't really care who wins. Head Karate Kid, Tales Iron Fist.

Tails won. So Iron Fist it is.

I'd like to point out for the record that the character Karate Kid, aka Val Armorr, predates the "Karate Kid" movies by a good span of years. He's not a joke character. There have always been plenty of joke characters in the Legion books (i.e. Bouncing Boy, Matter-Eater Lad, Calorie Queen, the Entire Legion of Substitute Heroes, the Legion of Super Pets, etc.), but Karate Kid is not one of them. Indeed, Karate Kid is counted as one of the most formidable Legionnaires, having defeated even Daxamites (Superman-class powers) in unarmed combat. The Pre-Zero Hour Karate Kid was one of the most heroic of Legionnaires, giving his life (in a most painful way, I might add) to save Princess Projectra's homeworld of Orando from the evil Legion of Super-Villains, led by the traitor Nemesis Kid (please, don't laugh at the names; it was a long time ago).

Asside from that, though, Alan's statements were pretty accurate. Learned techniques from all across the galaxy, regarded as the most skilled martial artist of the 3oth/31st century, looks at Martial Arts as helping along the path to enlightenment (so, yeah, metaphysical and stuff).

Obviously, my vote was for Karate Kid.

Unfortunantly more people are familar with Karate Kid the movie as oppose to Karate Kid the comic character. So in the end...

Wax on/Wax off, dude.

Jakazul - December 22, 2004 10:54 PM (GMT)
Iron Fist all the way, man.

deathfromwithin - December 23, 2004 12:06 AM (GMT)

Robin - December 23, 2004 01:39 AM (GMT)
ultimo dragon...

No idea who that is.

Marx - December 23, 2004 01:43 AM (GMT)
lol He's a wrestler, supposed last disciple of Bruce Lee. lol And there is a slight resemblance isn't there?

Robin - December 23, 2004 02:45 AM (GMT)
Like... Mexican Wrestler? Oo! Well then, of course Iron Fist will win!

I believe these comics from SOMETHING POSITIVE will prove that. LOL.
