Title: Posting Rules
Description: We need your input

Jakazul - December 24, 2004 11:20 PM (GMT)
If you read nothing else, please read this piece and the possible solutions.

Alright, lately it has come to the administration team's attention that the posting rules- created to give order to the RPGing and better adapt to people's schedules- may be falling a bit short of our intentions and creating as many problems as they are stopping.
We have come to several conclusions and have arguments for both sides, but would like your vote on what we should do.
Before you cast your vote, please read over the arguments for both sides.
(Note that you will not be allowed to post in this topic, but simply to vote. If you have any suggestions or opinions please PM me or one of the other admins about it and we can try to get back to you and take it into consideration.)

The Problem
The posting rules are designed, as I mentioned, so that people don't get confused and lost durring the RPGing.
We realize that everyone here has different schedules and is unable to be on 24/7 or post as rapidly as others.
They do serve well in this, however some people have begun to complain that their posting is restricted by the posting rules and that this causes them to have to wait and the stories to go slower or stop.
This also has a tendency to make some posts longer, so some of the lazier members (admins included) do not enjoy reading the long posts and lose interest.

Pro Posting Rules
They are good because it helps people that can't be on as frequently to get caught up.
It's not good to leave for a couple days and come back to see the story has moved drasticly in their absence.
There have been several occasions in the past where arguments have arisen because someone left and came back to find the story they were in was in a totally different place or over.
People don't like to have to catch up and with family, work, school and other activities we realize that it is impossible to ask everyone to conform to a single schedule.

Anti Posting Rules
At the same time, it is unfair for those of us who can post more to wait for hours or even days on end to be able to make our next post.
It also slows stories, meaning that they have a tendency to seem to drag on forever and become borring.
This reduces interest, which reduces popularity, which reduces members, which reduces YJUTT, which reduces the goodness of the world.

Possible Solutions
There have been several possible solutions proposed for this dilema, but we would like your input to make a decision on what, if any, actions we should take.

1. Remove posting rules all together. This would definitely fix the problems for the people that have more flexible schedules and like to post fast, it would also probably hurt the slower or more hectic people a lot more.

2. Remove the posting rules to some extent, but have the Game Master say when to go and when to stop. A corresponding rule would be that if any player dissapears for more than two weeks without warning the GM gains control of that character for the remainder of the storyline.

3. Keep things how they are. You should be able to figure this one out.

Its been several weeks since we put up this poll gang, and the votes speak for themselves.

1 Vote for No Rules
10 Votes for Limited Rules
5 Votes for Current Rules

And thus we will now have it where we remove the posting rules to some extent.

There will no longer be a limited number of posts per day, but instead everything will be controled by the Game Master. He or she will be in charge of story's progression.

And when they say to stop for whatever reason, then everyone must do so. If they say to stop for the day, then people aren't allowed to post until the following day. If they say to stop until someone else posts, then everyone must do so.

A corresponding rule would be that if any player dissapears for more than two weeks without warning the GM gains control of that character for the remainder of the storyline.

If you have further questions about the rules, then please send a PM to YJUTT ADMINISTRATION AND/OR MODERATORS.
