Title: In today's episode of "A Minor Mystery"
Description: Hear of the Outsiders' exciting mission

NutiketAiel - January 17, 2005 11:08 PM (GMT)
Some weeks after the conclusion of the current group of Outsider's innaugural mission against St. Dumas, things are quiet in the team's Boston headquarters, each of the team members doing their own thing. Except for Esper, whoever, who is on monitor duty and couldn't be happier.

After bandying words with Young Justice's Invisible Kid over the com-link, Esper recieves a call from the Chief of Police for Boston, asking for Nightwing. Infuriatingly, Esper puts the chief on hold while she pages Nightwing.

Nightwing interrupts a soothing session of calisthenics to answer the call, inwardly reconsidering the wisdom of allowing Esper to join the team, especially when he sees her smug little smile.

Once he is taken off call waiting, the irate chief tells Nightwing of a mysterious crime spree throughout the city, items with no apparent connection to each other vanishing completely without a trace! When the latest item, a historic Masonic ritual implement said to have been used by some of the founding fathers, was stolen last night, the Mayor of Boston forced a reluctant police chief to call in the Outsiders to help.

Although normally he would handle such a minor case himself, Nightwing decides to call in the entire team to assist with this one; it might be a good exercise, after all.

While Nightwing speaks with the Chief, Lobo, that inveterate blue collar space bum, arrives, bearing a cigar and lighter fluid, insults the chief even worse than Esper had and makes lecherous suggestions at the poor girl. Finally, Nightwing sealed the titanium door of the monotir room, locking Lobo out. As Bushido attempts to find out what is going on and Esper whispers to him a plea for him to ninja Lobo into orbit, the furious chief promises to fax the Outsiders a list of the missing items and locations before hanging up.

Sometime during all this, Arsenal returns to the HQ after visiting his daughter.

Who or what is behind this crime spree? Why is the mayor so concerned at this point? Will Lobo ever succeed in getting Esper drunk enough to sleep with him? Stay tuned and find out the answers to some of these questions.

Except the last question. I'll tell you the answer right now- no.

With the Outsider's assembled, Nightwing informs them of the current situation. They are now off to investigate the last crime scene, but before the leave Nightwing tells Lobo to basically 'get the hell out and don't let the door hit you on the way'. Lobo who is bored leaves without much problem.

The team then loads onto the Prequod with the normal amount of random chatter and debates, as they fly into the city. Now the jet lands in a nearby park, and the team prepares for the next part of the investigation.

(Seems like it should be more, but that really is it so far.)

Okay... The Team arrives at the Mason Temple. Nightwing, Esper and Bloodless investigate the inside. Arsenal and Boshido investigate the outside. They find nothing, but think its mystical. Nightwing calls Tempest. Tempest and Esper do a spell and find out the evil magic originated in Australia. They depart for said country, but Esper wants to bring a squirel they found.

That sums it up kids. (A squirel...?)

Nothing has happened.

After Nightwing instructs Esper to leave the squirrel behind (awww, he's so mean), the Outsiders depart for Australia.

During the trans-oceanic flight, Tempest uses the onboard maps and satelite imaging systems to narrow the location of the caster to a five block radius in downtown Sydney. He is beginning to become suspicious, however... this whole mystery seems to be unraveling far too easily.

The team is now coming in for a landing on the roof of a business within the five block radius. No one seems to have detected their approach.

Will the Outsiders prevail over their mystery villain? Just who is behind the thefts? What's going to happen with the squirrel?

Stay tuned to find out.

The Outsiders have found their foe and its... A squirrel. Apparently the possessed Familar of a powerful mage, the Squirrel has telepathically shut down Esper and now the Outsider must defeat.... a Squirrel.
