Title: Family Ties
Description: Trip to Apokalips

Marx - January 30, 2005 11:55 PM (GMT)
This story takes place after World Without Teen Titans, but before Helpless

The PM came to a screeching halt as it stopped in the Elias parking lot. Will stepped out of the black and red car with a small bag before pressing a button on his wrist causing the car to drive away again. The PM had many uses and had been especially helpful without his instant mode of transportation anymore, but it wouldn't be any help where he was planning on going. It could break the sound barrier and had limited water vessel properties but he was still working on the space travel part...as in he hadn't even thought about it until a short while ago.

Using his stealth, he came in through the front door of the all girls school. It was amazing how often he was able to do that and not get caught. He wasn't sure if it was because he was just really good or if the security for the school just seriously sucked. Whichever it was he was glad for it as he ducked behind various things and avoided being seen by both the teachers and the students that unknowingly passed by the superhero.

Finally making his way to his destination, Will knocked on the door. "I'm coming I'm coming! You know Traya you don't actually have to knock, the door's o-...oh...." Will smirked slightly as he caught Cissie's surprise at his presence. "You know...we've really got to stop meeting like this." "Then you should stop knocking on the door creepy boy. You know Cassie's not here." "Yeah I know, I'm here for Greta." A slight small crossed Cissie's face as she opened the door the rest of the way. "GRETA!!! YOU HAVE A VISITOR!"

Greta came out of her room laughing; She was carrying her backpack with one hand and zipping it up with the other. “What did you call him? ‘Creepy Boy?’ oh, you know, I think I like that as much as I do calling him Twinkie!!” after running about the room, collecting little things, getting Will to hold her bag, then her coat while she did things like brush her hair into pigtails and panic because she could only find one of her mary-janes.
Eventually she was ready, two shoes and everything.

Just as the two were about to leave the room Cissie had a thought, there was something more going on here than she knew. “So, where exactly are you two going, Just in case someone asks.” There was definitely a look between the two of them before Greta replied, slightly unsure of herself. “Its this thing we decided to do, you know, go on a trip, get some…bonding time in. So were just going to hang out. See ya!”

As they walked up the hallway, getting some distance between the room and them selves, Greta laughingly said in high spirits, “Heh, that Cissie, sometimes I swear she acts like she’s my mo…..” The laughter gone, she looked at Wills set face. “Yuou sure you still want to go through with this?”

Once she’d got the answer she thought she was going to get she held out her hand and engulfed them in her smoking mist, one stomach churning, mind dissolving jump later and they were in the Teen Titan garage at Titan Tower. Hiding behind one of the conveniently placed workbenches, they waited as the watching camera scanned overhead.
Greta looked to her brother, chewing her lip nervously and whispered, “What if they need it? If there’s an emergency or something. I think I should really ask Robin…”

Marx - February 2, 2005 03:27 PM (GMT)
Will's expression was more serious than usual as he looked at Greta. Honestly, he wasn't sure about this whole thing, but he felt it was something they were going to have to do. He tried his best not to give a look resembling anything of what he was thinking at the moment which was, 'You...have got to be kidding me...'. "Greta, we're going to Apokalips to get our mother back...last time we saw her she almost killed me...if you want to say bye to Robin that's all good...but do you honestly think he's going to approve of what we're about to do?" He could understand where she was coming from though, he wasn't completely dense. Will knew completely about her feelings for the Boy Wonder, but even as much as he loves Cassie she didn't know where they were actually going.

Like Greta had done with Cissie as far as Cassie knew they were just going on an outing, not going to Apokalips of all places. He knew her, there's no way she'd let him go, or she'd want to go with him. It would be the same way with Tim, this was something that they'd have to do alone. Neither Tim or Cassie knew their mother before she went insane, only three other people did. Him, Greta and their father...and the last one wasn't an option. Leaning on the Supercycle, Will put their things in the back seat and looked back to Greta for her reply.

atlantis - February 16, 2005 12:23 AM (GMT)
Greta looked downcast as Will turned to put their stuff in the cycle. She wanted to tell the person most important to her, who chose to care for her, where she would be going and why.
Ok, so he wouldn’t approve but …maybe he would understand? After all, they were only going to talk to her, try to get her to come home. So they could finally be a family again. But she should really have asked to borrow the cycle at least?

She sighed, she was confusing herself. “You’re right….I guess” She answered looking up. Pulling Will from the cycle’s side with a small frown. “He’s not a leaning post you know.” She walked to the middle of the cycle she began talking to the vehicle in soothing tones.

“Ok, my brother and I are going to go on a trip and we’re really like your help.” She added a smile, glad that the cycle tended to trust her, simply because Tim did. At first the lights remained dimmed. “You see, we want to go see our mommy, she’s far away and…we miss her a lot.” Some lights were flicking on, he was listening at least. If we can, we’re going to try to bring her home with us. But then we though, who could we get to take us on such an important mission?” Even the teams’ car had an ego… “Then we realized that you’re a parent…you’d understand what its like to be apart from your family. So, please, will you take us?” For a moment it looked like the cycle would shut down once more until the revs of its engine proved them wrong.

Wearing a big smile she ignored how manipulative she could be. “Thank you. And don’t worry, Robin won’t leave us again.” She whispered, knowing the cycle shared her fear. If he thought Tim supported this trip then it would go better for them

As the cycle revved in agreement to take them wherever they wished Will hit the button to open the hanger door. This meant that whoever was in the control room was just told of their departure so they had better leave ASAP.
The cycle took to the air, flying towards the gradually growing opening in the side of the tower.

Marx - February 16, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
After pressing the hanger control, Will quickly jumped in the front seat of the cycle. They'd need to get out of here fast, especially if Tim was in the Tower. 'They'll be fine, there's still the T-Jet if something happens. How often do they need to go off planet?' Will rolled his eyes at the thought and didn't even bother to give himself and answer. He really would have prefered to go himself, they were going to a planet with evil gods with seemingly endless armies. This was definitely not the place he wanted his little sister, even though they weren't related by blood his love for her was just as deep as if they were. He didn't want her hurt.

But unfortunately, she was essential to this plan. There was a chance Greta wouldn't have even been able to convince the Supercycle to take them to Apokalips, but by himself that chance was nothing. The cycle had no reason to trust him, it probably still saw him as the person who left Cissie bleeding in it's backseat. And once they actually got there, as well intentioned as Will was, he failed miserably trying to convince his mother to come with him before. Having both of her children trying to get her back would be much more effective. Also Will had only been to Apokalips once, and he was unconscious part of the time. Greta had been there before and knew her way around. And of course there was the fact that if he hadn't survived Greta would never have forgiven him, and considering she's the passageway to death, it's not like she wouldn't know.

Looking back at his sister, Will could see the doubt in her face. She wanted to tell Robin, he could see it in her face. He hated convincing her to do something she didn't want to do but it would have only hindered them. This was a family matter, and hopefully after this was all done Tim would understand. Will shelded his eyes from the sun as the Supercycle was now in the open air. He took in as much of the surroundings as he could as he heard the sound of the boom tube opening. The trees, the water, the smells, everything. He knew that once they were through, he'd see none of the above. After the loud booming noise subsided, Will looked around again. Partially to make sure they were in the right place and also to make sure there were no parademons or any other metas they'd have to take down. The heat he felt against his cheek verified the first and thankfully either they were lucky or the Supercycle just knew what it was doing because as far as Will could see there wasn't anyone around.

"Thank you." Will said to the Supercycle before turning back to Greta. "We're here. Are you ready?"

atlantis - March 21, 2005 03:37 PM (GMT)
“Ok Supercycle, we’re going to go look for our mommy so while we’re off looking for her it might be best if you lock down? And if anyone comes and starts looking around just…blast them or something?” Greta said, worrying about the cycles safety as she took a comm. unit from his dash and clipped it to her wrist. “And be ready to get us out of there if we need it please.”

“I don’t think you can ever be ready to face this place. But we're here now and that’s what counts, i just hope your wearing you're 'screaming and running in fear costume' today instead of your blockheaded 'lets fight and die outfit.'" Although Greta was trying to be funny and lighten the mood a little her nerves came out in her voice.

A violent wind whipped against them and she looked across to Will. In truth they had been her together twice before. The last was when she’d been effectively brainwashed into thinking her mother knew the best thing for her, and that was to be her with her and the evil darkside…The titans had come after her and Will had almost been killed, and she’d almost killed Robin because he didn’t love her. She’d known it was denial all along.

The first time was a little different but not by much. This was when Darkside had taken her as a protégé and her father, possessed by the spirit of Billy had committed suicide in front of her. They didn’t talk about things like that much though. It was a couple of lifetimes ago for the both of them.

“I guess….we go that way?” She indicated a structure that looked fairly familiar. “And try to stay alive.”

Marx - March 25, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
"Don't worry Gretel, I will." Will said with a slight smirk. He knew why they were doing they're best to make jokes. They were scared witless, logically this was a stupid idea and they knew it. But they weren't thinking with they're heads. They're mom was the only family they had left. The last strand they had of they're old lives, before the death, before the various manipulations. She represented their humanity, they couldn't just leave her...here.

Will's mind continued to drift...to the past, to the possible future. All the while he was focussing on everything. Every flame, every sound, he didn't want any surprises. As they reached the structure, Will looked and he saw that there were 2 Parademons guarding the doors. There were only two that he could see and they could easily be taken down, but there's never only two of them. If they can go without a total free for all that would be the way to go. It wasn't like they could call for backup.

"She's in there?" Will whispered to Greta, hoping her unique powers would provide some additional insight. If he were by himself his only course of action would have been to..."interrogate" the two until he found out what he needed. But with his sister here hopefully he wouldn't need to. She could even smoke-jump them inside if need be. The point was to get who they came for and get out as quickly and quietly as possible. Of course, it's never quick and quiet, but he could hope.

atlantis - April 4, 2005 03:37 PM (GMT)
Looking across to where Will had indicated she tried to look for her mom's soul. It was s omething she'd been developing since she found being in Falcons presance completely threw her out, elated when Tim was coming to see her, feeling better when her friends were near. She'd been too worried to know what she'd feel if she read Will so she hadn't just yet. She couldn't take anything from them, like thoughts or anything, but it worked as a locater of sorts. It was a skill that was coming very slowly and didn't work when she tried it most of the time.

She closed her eyes and tried to reach out with her mind or soul or connection, whatever it was that let her do these things but got nothing. Reopening her eyes and looking at her brother she gave a small smile, the look in her eyes letting him know that she'd failed that way. "Wait here." Before he could comment she was gone, smokejumping to different parts of the stronghold, making sure to keep herself hidden from the patroling guards.

A few minutes later she was back. "I found her!"

Marx - April 6, 2005 09:32 PM (GMT)
Will watched as Greta searched for they're mom in the building with her growing new ability. As he looked at her he thought about it. This was the first time he could think of where it had been just them on a mission together. He hadn't realized it but despite how much a loner he made himself out to be, he'd grown accustomed to being in a team in the year or so that he'd been with the Titans. But Cassie notwithstanding there wasn't anyone he'd rather have at his side than Greta, though in his mind she was his little sister. The one who he'd chase around the house after she'd call him "Twinkie", the one he always felt he had to protect from the world. He sometimes forgot just how powerful she was.

"Wait here."

Will's eyes went wide as he realized that Greta was about to smoke-jump out. "Greta wai-.." But it was too late, she was already gone. Just great, he knew she could handle herself but that didn't mean that he wasn't going to worry. Being super powered on Apokalips is about as rare as "innocent" guys in jail, there's tons, she could still be hurt. Especially if they ran into Darkseid which he was sincerely hoping wouldn't happen, even when he had his powers Darkseid wiped the floor with him.

"I found her!"

Will quickly turned and gave a relieved nod as Greta returned. Giving her a smile that almost said 'Good job.', Will took her hand and prepared for the smoke-jump.
