Title: Casting for the Teen Titans Cartoon
Description: Who do you want to see in the cartoon?
Robin - February 4, 2005 01:40 AM (GMT)
Well, to be honest I've never been much of a fan of the TEEN TITANS cartoon, but for the sake of giving us a new poll to keep us busy, I've choosen to dip into the animated universe.
So our latest query today is which Comic book Teen Titan character would you like to see on the small screen?
And as you can see, I've listed some character such as Wonder Girl and Kid Flash, but let it open so that you could choose between the orignal versions and the contemporary.
Now cast your vote before the flying monkey eat you!
Marx - February 4, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
This is probably biase, but I'd love to see SB on the Titans, it'd even make sense with Cyborg being the leader of Titans West.
Jason Todd - February 4, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
Iono I love the animated series. I just find it hilarious and funny and all that good stuff.
Producers said next season more heroes and more superhero groups will make an appearance. I'd also like to see Connor on the Series
I was gonna go with other sinec I'd like to see mebbe Danny Chase on the series but sided with SB
Robin - February 4, 2005 04:48 AM (GMT)
Eh, I love Superboy as much as the next fan, but frankly I'm not one who really wants him in the cartoon.
Mostly because this series revolves around the old Teen Titans group with the original Titans like Robin I (Dick Grayson), Speedy I (Roy Harper), and Aqualad I (Garth) and relationships like Robin and Stafire or Beast Boy and Terra.
With that in consideration, I think they should bring in the rest of the ORIGINAL Teen Titans Donna Troy Wonder Girl and/or Wally West Kid Flash just to round things off. Maybe do an episode with Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Speedy and Aqualad save the day.
If this had been a Teen Titans cartoon with Tim Drake, Bart Allen and Cassie Sandsmark, then I could say otherwise.
But since I can only choose one, I go with Donna Troy.
Shinobi - February 4, 2005 12:16 PM (GMT)
I've always enjoyed the speedster characters. Kinda like Plastic man, they dont really necissarily take themselves too seriously like SOME heroes.
Anyway though...they probly wont put in Kid Flash or Wonder girl because the Justice league...whatever they're calling themselves in the cartoon now...already has flash and wonder woman and people would think it a bit redundant...
Also i'm curious, Alan you've said that the characters in the cartoon are very diffrent from their characterization in the comic, I'm curious what villain is closest too their comic book counterpart?
Somehow I doubt its Brother Blood....although on a sort of funny sidenote when he first showed up on screen I thought it was Ra's Al Ghul.
Robin - February 4, 2005 01:54 PM (GMT)
Its isn't redudant Shinobi. They have Batman's partner who is more famous than Wonder Girl or Kid Flash and was already on several animated series with the JLU Batman. They have Green Arrow's partner and Aquaman's partners. I don't see why thye can't have Wonder Woman and Flash's partners. Its not like this cartoon is following the same continium of the JLU/Batman the Animated series.
Besides, its not like they go around showing their secret I.D.s right? They could easily show Wonder Girl or Kid Flash without hurting Flash's standings in the JLU. And honestly, Donna Troy and Wonder Woman would barely effect one another, especially if you look at the Post-Crisis Donna Troy.
And yeah, Brother Blood was just a Ra's Al Ghul copy with an overly humorus attitude. I think the only villain closest to his comic counterpart is Trigon. And that's because he barely talks. Slade isn't a super-villain over-lord looking for global domination, he's an assasin who dislikes the Titans to an extent. Brother Blood isn't some messed up Professor Xavier with a Ra's Al Ghul look and the HIVE isn't supposed to be a school, its supposed to be a cult. Now what's wrong with kids knowing about cults, I ask you?
John Stewart - February 4, 2005 03:14 PM (GMT)
I want Superboy and Kid Flash, but I voted for Superboy.
kidflash3 - February 4, 2005 03:35 PM (GMT)
Alan, didn't you mean Green ARROW'S" partner?
Robin - February 4, 2005 06:24 PM (GMT)
ummm... yeah... that's what I said. +_+
NutiketAiel - February 4, 2005 07:31 PM (GMT)
I voted for Kid Flash, by which I meant Wally.
Shinobi - February 4, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
I guess your right it would be a bit redundant. And it would be kool, since I figured out which era the team is from i've been waiting for when they whole of the original team is assembled.
Xtreme - February 4, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
I voted superboy, but i think flamebird would also fit in. But adding anyone else in would upset the gender balance, which throws off the cartoon. Not that im sexist thats just my opinoin.
PS Note that there is one titan for each high school Clique
Jock:Cyborg
Class Clown:Beast Boy
Cheerleader:Starfire
Goth:Raven
Popular guy:Robin
Terra doesnt reall fit though.
PPS: Was the Brother Blood epesode on Cartoon Network or WB?
Marx - February 4, 2005 09:49 PM (GMT)
It's been on both I believe, aired on CN first then WB.
Robin - February 4, 2005 11:36 PM (GMT)
I said it ISN'T redudant Shinobi.
And Terra did fit into the group, She was the girl next door, who turned into a catty b&tch.
I disagree withthat about gender balance Xtreme. Look at the Titans East group. Bumblee is the only girl, with Speedy Aqualad Manos and Minos.
In the comics, the team changes all the time. The only problem that would occure in the cartoon is too many characters it would get too crowded. That's why they have guest stars.
Shinobi - February 5, 2005 05:51 AM (GMT)
Yes I know. That was a typo on my part. Shame for not figuring that out Robin. Shame.
Robin - February 5, 2005 05:58 AM (GMT)
Or shame on your for your typo Justin. Shame on you. Or maybe you just read what you wanted to read... Selective memory hm?
Shinobi - February 5, 2005 05:59 AM (GMT)
Uhm...uh...uhm...*shifty eyes* w-well...this has been another thrilling conversation..but...uhm...*runs*
Jakazul - February 5, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
Robin is not the popular guy. He's the loner.
I DON'T CARE WHAT THE CREATORS SAY! FORGET THE CREATORS! HE. IS. A. LONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm good now.
Jakazul - February 5, 2005 06:37 AM (GMT)
Oh! And I voted Superboy.
I'd like to see Wondy or Imp too tho. NOT Kid Flash. Impulse. Once again: THE CRATORS KNOW NOTHING. THE CHARACTERS ARE OURS. OURS!!!!!!
Robin - February 5, 2005 06:39 AM (GMT)
Not true Jake. The Tim Drake Robin is a loner. The Dick Grayson Robin which the cartoon obviously is, was a solical character. Mister Popular is you will.
Jakazul - February 5, 2005 07:15 AM (GMT)
*shudders and twitches*
N...no... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're right of course, but I can't believe you! I CAN'T!!!!
Robin - February 5, 2005 07:24 AM (GMT)
Not saying ya have to, but you know how it is.... :D
Xtreme - February 5, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
WHAT DO YOU MEAN NOT ENOUGH STRAIGHT JACKETS! WE NEED ONE FOR jackuzal NOW! (jk) Its okay, hes better. Just had a little reality crisis.
I think Superboy would be a good charecter. A superboy/Robin rivalry would be interesting, but i think Kid Flash would infrige too much on BBs territory. BTW: Beast Boy got his powers from a Green Monkey bite. Wierd, huh. But then again, look at spiderman. lol
Robin - February 5, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
It depends on which Kid Flash your talking about. If you mean the Bart Allen Flash, he might infringe on Beast Boy, but again we're talking about him as a Guest Star. Not a permanent character.
And Beast Boy didn't get his powers from a monkey bite. He was infected with a virus by the monkey bite and his parents injected him witha serum that mutated the virus into his powers.
And like I said, I think a Superboy/Robin rivaly would be better with Tim Drake as oppose to Dick Grayson.
One thing that would be fun would be Donna Troy and Starfire fighting over Robin.
Shinobi - February 5, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
Still technically he got his powers from a monkey bite. Also heard that originally no matter what form he took his face stayed the same at one time. Btw, they say he can turn into ANY animal he can invision right? So that would include animals that dont exist on earth?
And that would be funny.
As well, Dick Grayson does as I tell him!
*Ahem*.
...i've really gotta stop ticking off the batclan.
Nightwing: Indeed.
The power of the editor! *erases Dick Grayson* bwahahahahahaha!
Robin - February 5, 2005 09:26 PM (GMT)
*The editor who erased Nightwing is fired and burned alive by the Phoenix and Nightwing is returned in a specially issue of Nightwing as he, the Bat-Clan and Superman kicks Shinobi's butt again and again and again. It becomes the best selling DCU book ever made because everyone loves to watch Shinobi get his butt kicked. They even make a monthly series of Shinobi getting his butt kicked. Biggest seller since DC's creation. All it shows is Shinobi getting brutally attacked by everyone character in the DCU*
Don't screw with my favorite Characters Justin *Phoenix flames errupt from Alan* Or do we need to repeat of every other one of your defeats? Cause, I'd be more than happy to oblige.
And techinically Gar didn't got a virus from the monkey bit. He got his powers from the serum that mutated the virus. He can turn into any type of animal on earth or otherwise. They've shown him do it more than one time before.
Shinobi - February 6, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
*Groping batgirl while being pummeled senseless* W...o...r...t...h....i...t....
And I thought as much.
Robin - February 6, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
You sick... And you wonder why your character can't get a girlfriend.
*Batgirl's eyes grow wide and she rips off Shinobi's... lower member and stuffs it down his own throat She looks over at Batman and the others*
"He deserved it."
"Deserved what?" they all ask in unision. "We didn't see you do anything. He was always like that."
And the beating continues.
And too finish everthing off, the Phoenix wipes all of Shinobi's perverted memories of every touching girl much less Batgirl And everytime he heards the word Parlsy, longitude and boobie, he begins to wet himself and vomit uncontrollably.
kidflash3 - February 7, 2005 03:53 PM (GMT)
also, they may fuse the personalities of the two kid flashes, Wally's knack for fun and Bart's knowlege, they also might make him have a crush on raven because raven made him believe that she liked him.
Marx - February 7, 2005 04:22 PM (GMT)
That's actually a good point. Since they apparently merged the Robins, though as Alan pointed out Dick seems to be the more dominant one, if they did use Wonder Girl or Kid Flash they probably would incorporate both of them into one.
Robin - February 8, 2005 05:15 AM (GMT)
I wouldn't be suprised. Though actually I'd see Kid Flash having Bart's sense of fun and Wally's aggressive nature. With the exception of the Justice League Cartoon, Flash was never as... happy go lucky in the comics. He had a sense of fun, but he was known for a short temper.
They've already got Robin and Cyborg's smarts. Besides, Bart isn't known for his smarts. He's a genius yeah, but when you think of Bart Allen you think hyper-active super-speed boy.
kidflash3 - February 8, 2005 11:06 PM (GMT)
you have a point sir, they could also introduce Rose and have them have a Terra/Beast boy relationship.
Robin - February 8, 2005 11:23 PM (GMT)
Doubt that would happen. Rose is Slade's daughter and this show refuses to show any kind of family relationship. That would mean Rose would get stuck on the backburner.
Maybe it they introduced Revanger, but Rose herself would very unlikely.
kidflash3 - February 9, 2005 04:52 PM (GMT)
actually, yeah you are right, they never use the secret identites on that show (except for Deathstroke the Terminators'they used his own name.)
Robin - February 9, 2005 05:22 PM (GMT)
Kinda. You see only the comic fans are aware the name 'Slade' is his real first name. People who only watch the cartoon probably think Slade is his code name.
The reason they don't call him Deathstroke, is apparently the writters think its to 'adult' a name.
Shinobi - February 9, 2005 08:31 PM (GMT)
Wait, I read someplace that Deathstroke at one time was leader of the titans...if this is true is it possible that they may do this in the cartoon?...actually y'know...that second question is kinda stupid...they arent gonna let him lead them...although i'm also curious...did anything close to what happened in 'apprentice' happen in the comics?
Robin - February 9, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
Slade was never EVER the leader of the Teen Titans. He DID work with them at one point during a time when he was trying to re-connect with Jericho and Rose, but he later returned to the life of a Mercenary. He was an ally for a bit, but never leader. That duty was always Dick, Donna, Roy or Vic.
And no, the events of Apprentice NEVER occured in the comic. Slade spent all his time trying to kill the Titans in revenge for the loss of his son. He never wanted to train Robin. He had Weatherbee and his own kids to worry about.
John Stewart - February 16, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)
Deathstroke should of been or should a Teen Titan for a little then turn on the Titans like he did in the Teen Titans comic. \m/
Robin - February 16, 2005 05:59 PM (GMT)
No way. That's a horrid idea. In the cartoon he's even MORE of a psychotic killer super-villain than in the comics. In the comic's, Deathstroke's reason for being a villain was based on getting paid for it. In the cartoon he wants to rule the earth.
The Titans would never trust him and he'd never stoop to joining them. Besides, when Slade joined the Titans, they were now adults. The were called THE NEW TITANS. Not the TEEN TITANS. Slade isn't a teen. And any ways, he's already betrayed them through Terra. You don't actually think they'd trust the real him, do you?
kidflash3 - February 17, 2005 04:14 PM (GMT)
also he has a very wierd voice in the cartoon.
