And here we go! The two people who actually held the Marvel and DC worlds together making the Amalgam universe at each other's throat..well...kinda...it being a different Spectre now all...who won't be Spectre technically for much longer if he even is now, haven't been keeping up with it, and Alan hasn't been posting his reviews. Shame Alan shame! *guilt trip guilt trip* lol Just kidding. As usual I actually don't know too much about either one and will wait to do my vote.

Robin - February 15, 2005 05:34 PM (GMT)
Specter would win.

After all this guy gets moe field time than the Tribunal. Hal's been a former GL, and his God's Wrath. He's faced alot of the big bads of the universe and beyond.

The Tribunal guy just sits there making judgements of people. He never goes out like Jordan does.

NutiketAiel - February 16, 2005 05:43 AM (GMT)
I disagree. Despite the fact that DC v. Marvel portrayed them as equal, I have always viewed Living Tribunal as the superior cosmic being in terms of shere power. Spectre is the spirit of vengeance and himself an agent of a higher power. The Living Tribunal IS a higher power in and of himself, with the power to enforce his judgements even on Eternity, or the mighty Infinity Gems.

I think a more appropriate DC opponent for Living Tribunal would be someone like the Monitor or Anti-Monitor (were they still alive).

Robin - February 16, 2005 06:02 AM (GMT)
Specter has taken down bigger opponents than Living Tribunal. And so has Hal Jordan. Together, its not even a contest.

Stepi01 - February 18, 2005 07:33 PM (GMT)
SPECTRE WILL WIN!!!!!!

Sorry for the shouting, but I cannot and willnot go against the Spectre. The guy, if he is allowed to act, will always kick butt.

Especially if the host is willing to allow Spectre to use his full power.

Don't forget, The Spectre was able to face off against all sorts of supervillains. Only one thing could stop him from winning, I think, and that is if Hal Jordan, the host, doesn't allow the full power to be used.

He'll still win.

NutiketAiel - February 25, 2005 02:50 PM (GMT)
Spectre is pretty tough, but he is not all powerful. Anti-Monitor took him. Even Paralax took him.

And I think the Living Trib is easily superior to Paralax and an equal to the Anti-Monitor.

Robin - February 25, 2005 05:25 PM (GMT)
Parallax doesn't count. All three personalities were having problems mesh at the time. Thats the problem with multi-personality creatures. One can be more powerful than the other, but should they not be insynch they have problems. They normaly were insych until the GL: REBIRTH

As for anit-monitor, Specter had been forced to go back in time to stop the Anti-Monitor from destroying the creation of history. He succedded but using that much power can weaken anyone.

The Living Tribunal can't defeat the power of his own creator.

NutiketAiel - February 25, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
??

How is the Spectre the Living Tribunal's creator?

Shinobi - February 25, 2005 10:07 PM (GMT)
I think he ment something else...not sure what though...

Robin - February 26, 2005 03:59 AM (GMT)
I mean the powers that be. Whatever entity it is that created Specter and Living Tribunal. Writers, gods, call them them what you want. But if the Living Tribural ever goes over board, who's to say a being like Specter won't be sent to take him down.

NutiketAiel - February 26, 2005 03:23 PM (GMT)
You could say the exact same thing in reverse, i.e. "If the Spectre ever got out of control, who's to say a being like the Living Tribunal wouldn't be dispatched to put him back in line?"

Robin - February 26, 2005 06:32 PM (GMT)
Because someone else would be used to capture the Specter and then he'd be taken before his boss The Powers that Be. Not the Tribuneral. That's not his jurisdiction. Tricky ain't it?

Marx - February 26, 2005 09:18 PM (GMT)
....
....
*smiles and nods*

NutiketAiel - February 26, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
*looks awound with a bewildered expression*

Does anybody else have any idea what Alan is getting at?

Robin - February 26, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
>Sigh< You make is so hard...

The Powers That Be are the only people the Specter reports to. God, Budda, who ever it is that runs everything in existance.

The Tribunal is another tool of the Powers that Be in order to keep the balance.

But considering the amount of free will and free range they give the Specter, they aren't going to want some second party to handle him if he goes rogue. Too messy. They will handle him themselves, by simply ripping the Specter spirit from his host body and throwing him into limbo.

NutiketAiel - February 26, 2005 10:12 PM (GMT)
Oh, I see what you mean now. And I agree, they would deal with Spectre directly, as they did his predecessor, Eclipso.

I don't think it has anything to do with which of them is more powerful, but at least I understand what you're trying to say.

Robin - February 26, 2005 10:43 PM (GMT)
Acutally it does. You see, the Tribunal has no free will. They only have their duty. Pass out judgement on the lesser beings and stand around looking dark and spooky, not doing anything else.

The Specter is the Wrath of the Powers that Be personified. Specter isgive the PTB's anger and revenge. But he is allowed to choose who and how he takes the PTB's vengence. He travels the world and looks for the big bads. The Tribunal waits for the big bads to be brought to him. And its only the BIGGEST of Bads he worries about. He has no field work to his name.

The fact that the Specter has free will gives him more power. He's able to decide how he wants to take down the foe and he so long as he doesn't tryto take control of the universe, he's not as limited as the Tribunal.

NutiketAiel - February 28, 2005 04:03 PM (GMT)
I admit that he is less limited in his general actions than the Spectre, but I don't think that maked him less powerful. If anything, that probably indicates that he is more powerful, since the "powers that be" felt the need to restrain him more.

Plus, the fact that he only deals with cosmic-level beings is an ADVANTAGE, not a disadvantage, since he is used to dealing with enemies of the Spectre's power level. Spectre, on the other hand, is used to dealing with entities he can destroy with a thought if he felt like it.

Robin - February 28, 2005 04:46 PM (GMT)
Specter deals with all kinds of entities, both cosmic and mortal.

The Powers didnt' restrain The Tribunal, Jim. They created him only for the purpose of judging those too powerful to judge. He has no other purpose than that. He's like a pen. You use it when needed and put it away. The Powers threw him together so they wouldn't have to handle everything themselves.

And the fact that Tribunal doesn't know anything outside of his duty is a major disadvantage, because he doesn't know how to handle anything else. Thats why he is rarely used. He doesn't do much.

The Specter on the other hand is in constant use. He's everywhere doing everything. He's faced Gods, Demons, and cosmic Powers.

NutiketAiel - February 28, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
Eh. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. Again.

Marx - February 28, 2005 06:57 PM (GMT)
And not a moment too soon! As Spectre has won because...of all the stuff...Alan was saying...yeah! Next one will be up soon, blah blah blah..
