Title: Into the Fire
Description: continued from Decisions Decisions

Marx - April 28, 2005 06:52 PM (GMT)
*This starts right after Harm goes to Hell in Decisions Decisions*

Harm didn't know what freaked him out more. The screams he could hear, the smell of the fire and brimstone, the smell of death...or the fact that he felt more at home then he had in a while. That last one probably scared him more than anything he'd see down here. Even using his memory of spells to come down here, it just felt natural, like he hadn't skipped a beat. But looking up, he began to have doubts, which was pretty funny considering he literally was at the point of no return. He just hoped that he'd be able to get back to see Cassie and Greta at least one last time.

But first thing's first. If he was able to find his daggers then he'd be able to reestablish his connections and deal with the consequences of it later. This was the exact spot where he'd thrown them, and so far there was no one here. Luck seemed to be on his side until he realized the daggers were nowhere to be found. Of course he didn't think it would have been that easy, what were the chances the daggers would have been there the months that he'd been without his powers. With a slight sigh, Will started his second plan. There should still be some demons scared enough of him to lead him to the right places, the trick was finding them.

Harm knew the surrounding areas pretty well. Not much had changed since he'd last been there. Despite his loss of powers, he wasn't completely helpless. The one thing he still had was his stealth, which was a good thing in this situation. As long as he stayed around the lower level demons they weren't bright enough to look up and even if they did see him he was able to take them out pretty quickly. Looking at his watch he saw that he'd been down there about an hour so far, and he still hadn't found any familiar looking demons.

Eventually he heard the voice of a demon who looked like a mix between a gremlin and a lawn gnome, bingo. Harm waited until the demon had finished the conversation and the other demon had walked away before he quickly jumped at the demon and picked him up, slamming him against the wall. "Hello Nivel. It's been a while." The demon's eyes went wide at first and then just as quickly his expression turned back to the confident smirk. "You don't scare Nivel anymore. Word is, you're powerless." Just great, even Hell isn't immune to gossip, but Harm had controlled Nivel before and he knew he could do it again as he drove his forearm into the demon's neck. "Then you have to ask yourself a question. Does me not having my connections make me less of a threat....or more of one. I have nothing to lose right now so either you're going to be useful or I find another pidgeon. Of course if that happens I can't very well leave you alive now can I?"

Harm's face showed that he wasn't just issuing a threat. In his mind he'd already lost what meant most to him, he really didn't have anything to lose. And the one thing about immortality is, that when you have it, it ironically makes you that much more scared of death. "Okay! Okay! Nivel will help you. Nivel promises." "Your promises mean jack to me, demon!" Harm growled as he began to once more resume his superior role with the demon. Nivel was one of those demons that was a little bit into everything which made him a very good ally and also kept him alive since obviously he wasn't the strongest of demons. "What do you want? Nivel will get it for you!" "That's more like it. Now, when I gave up my powers I used two daggers as a conduit and within them are my old connections. Have you seen the daggers?"

The little demon was finally released and instinctively rubbed his neck trying to breathe again. "Yes, of course. As soon as they were found, they became quite the pricey item, that they did." This was beginning to annoy Harm to no end. The daggers had not only been found but they'd been up for sale? Just great. "Where...are...they?"

"Looking for something?" Harm's eyes went wide as he heard the voice behind him, but before he could turn, an emence shadow formed over him and pain exploded through his entire body...seemed like the second plan was a flop as well. The last thing he could remember before he passed out was the smile on the face of Nivel as darkness embraced him.

Harm slowly found himself regaining consciousness and got off the floor wiping the blood from his mouth. "Just wait til I get my hands on that double crossing little-.." "You will do no such thing!" Harm didn't want to look to the voice. He knew who it was, there was only one being with a presense like that. Whose mere voice put so much fear into you that you didn't feel the slightest bit bad about running for it at the sight. Harm looked up into the one being's eyes that he had hoped his damnedest to avoid, into the eyes of Satan. "Hello Harm, we've been expecting you."

Marx - April 29, 2005 10:06 PM (GMT)
"Funny, I was doing my best to avoid you." Harm's taunt may have made it seem like he wasn't scared but he was terrified. Not so much for himself but now that Satan knew he was here, he wasn't going to be able to leave to help the others. This was Satan's domain, where he ruled absolutely. Harm's only chance of getting out of here alive was that Satan didn't know he was there and pardon the the pun, but that plan had obviously gone to Hell now. "Oh I know. But I knew it was only a matter of time before you came back to me. Looking for these I presume?" With that, Satan stood up causing the few demons around him to instantly bow, even Harm was tempted. But as he stood up he began to twirl two objects in his hand. You guessed it, the daggers. "Imagine my surprise when one of my minions came by these, discarded on the floor like they were nothing but common trash. Especially after all the work you went through for these connections."

All Harm could do was watch as Satan began to pace around him. Common sense would have said to run, but there was no point. He knew there was nowhere to run and no way to fight himself out of it. Even Satan knew that, which was probably the only reason Harm wasn't restrained in the slightest, it would have been redundant. "I didn't need them anymore." A loud crack was heard immediately following the statement that echoed through the throne room, as Harm was back handed onto the floor. "You will not speak unless I give you permission." Harm spat the blood out of his mouth and stood back up. "I don't work for you anymore." The smile Satan gave Harm scared him possibly more than the sudden blow. "But yet you came here. You came here to get back what you so foolishly gave up. You came here to get something that only I can give you, the only important thing...power."

"Power isn't the only important thing, 'Master'." Harm snapped back, emphasizing the word master. He knew that mocking Satan of all beings was just suicidal but to be honest he was dead anyway, he just hadn't been killed yet. "Don't lecture me. Love is merely a state of insanity that's acceptable up there. Look at what it's done to you, it's made you weak and stupid." Harm's eyes narrowed as he glared at his former master. "I'm strong enough not to join you again." Immediately Satan's hand was wrapped around Harm's neck stopping the air flow leaving him helplessly dangling in the air. "And that's where the stupid part comes in. You're pushing my patience, Harm. Don't think our connection will keep me from killing you." "We...have...no...connection!"

Harm bit his tongue as he abruptly hit the floor as Satan let go of him, unable to strangle and laugh insanely hard at the same time. "You fool! You really can't put the dots together can you? I know you're smarter than this." As Harm stood up, he looked into the black eyes of evil. An unknown fear began to bubble and gripe in his stomach, like something really bad was about to happen. "I don't even want to know what you're talking about." Satan was the lord of lies, he wasn't going to be taken in by them, so Harm simply turned around and started to walk away, not so much because he thought it would work, but he just wanted to be killed already. Enough of the mind games.

"Stop being so stupid! Do you honestly think its normal for someone to be such a natural at the occult? Do you think its normal for someone to open a portal to Hell through sheer force of will? What was the first thing you thought when you came here?!" Harm found himself stopping as the questions were asked. He'd admit that he'd wondered the answers to those questions many times over. Why him? "You don't even have to say anything. I know the answer. You felt at home here. You know that you don't belong up there, Harm. Your supposed friends know it too. Why do you think they made you feel so bad about coming here. They knew that you're evil, you were simply denying it because of her." Harm looked away. This is why he didn't want to talk to Satan, he may lie, but there's always truth behind it....it makes sense.

"I'm not an evil person..." Harm shouted..or at least he planned it to be a shout, it was barely above a whisper. "You don't sound too confident about that 'Will'. Let me fill in the blanks for you. It's as futile for you to be good as it is for you to try and sever our link." Harm's eyes went wide as he finally "put the dots together" and began to back away from Satan shaking his head. "I must say you've always intrigued me, Harm. I've had a couple of children, but you're the only one whose ever tried to...get in His good graces."

Marx - May 2, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
Harm hadn't realized how much he'd been backing up until he felt the wall against his back, and even that didn't stop him from trying to back up more. "You're lying...I'm not your son." It seemed like the more Harm's fear asserted itself the more the Prince of Darkness relished it. "Look at that, you're already telling lies, even if they are to yourself. The more you think about it the more it'll slowly make since. You may be in denial but you're not stupid." As Satan continued to talk he slowly walked closer and closer to Harm, relishing how his presense was making Harm more uncomfortable now than his initial fear.

"While it could always be said that humanity is inherently evil, you didn't think it was normal to feel that inherently evil did you? Don't you remember the look on your mother's face when she saw me that time in your room? Even she wasn't expecting you to find me so fast...though technically I did find you first. You think that I'd send Buzz for just anyone, he was my highest ranking recruiter..." Harm began to tune Satan out after that, his mind was just too crowded for any more information. No wonder no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get completely rid of his darkness...part of him was complete evil...the very definition of it. The Death Realm Limbo was the best he could hope for, if Evil really was his father its no wonder he couldn't get into Heaven if his life depended on it.

"You know, you're far from my first child. I've had many from time to time. Be their mothers human, demon, angel, alien, every species in between I've tried them all. And they all fail me. Its like a clock ticking and ticking before they try to overthrow me, which of course doesn't work and I'm forced to kill them. But I try again and again. Why? Many reasons I guess, though one I've always love is the giving of birth. It's extremely rare that they survive it, including the immortals, Trigon ain't got nuthin on me, the babies usually kill them from the inside out. But of course as you know you were different, you just drove her insane. I could tell then you'd be one of my favorites." "Shut up! Just shut up...I don't want to know anymore.." Harm had had enough, whoever said ignorance was bliss hit the nail on the head. Of course there was the possibility that this was all a lie to drive Harm evil and join him...Satan's lies do make sense afterall...but he knew it was true, he didn't know how, but he just knew.

His mind was like a magnetic puzzle. Now that the magnet had been turned on, all the pieces were coming back together, everything was making sense. But Harm wished it hadn't, he really wished he would have listened to Robin and Shinobi and not come down here. He just wanted to make sure he had the power to protect Cassie and Greta. "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here." The quote echoed in Harm's mind and really drove home the fact that he was in Hell, he wasn't going to escape this time. He slowly slid to the floor. "Whatever you're going to do just do it. You broke me. You won. I don't care anymore." Satan's smile only grew as he looked down at Harm. "Oh come now, you don't honestly think I'm just going to kill you do you? You betrayed me, Harm. You tried to cast me out. You must be thinking I'm the other Guy if you think I'm just going to let that go and give you a quick death. As I said, you're not the first child to try and betray me, I've even made a special section of Hell for you brats."

The ground below Harm suddenly crumbled as he fell into the fire. And when Satan said he made it specifically for his children he mean it, the intensity of the flames was specifically designed to break through anyone's fears while of course physically burning them. But of course usually when people come here it's only their souls, in Harm's case the flames had to burn through his body to get to burning his soul. The only thing going through his mind being the quote "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here."

Marx - May 3, 2005 10:52 PM (GMT)
You know how they say that when you're in pain that time seems to be stretched out longer. If you're being tortured for 10 minutes it seems like an hour and the lot? Well consider being tortured in a place specifically designed to cause as much pain as possible. And you're left there for 2 years. Got the image in your head? Sucks right? Well that's what Harm's going through, giving up all hope, he was tortured nonstop for 2 years, not that he knew how long it was, as I said when you're tortured time seems to be stretched out.

But he did realize one thing that wouldn't let him give up completely. If he gave up on everything that would mean that he lost all faith in Cassie and Greta, not to mention Duo, Tim, and countless others that Will had somehow befriended in his second life. He couldn't let that happen, after all they'd been through he couldn't just let it all be for nothing. While he didn't have Cassie's "Wonder Girl" chain on him, he had it in his heart, where he still clung on to it. He refused to abandon all hope regardless of how hopeless the situation seemed. Will was only a spirit at the moment since his body was destroyed within the first couple of seconds that he was thrown into the fire, but he knew he'd find a way out even if it took a lifetime. He'd get back to Cassie and the others somehow.

Unknown to Will his torture was both an annoyance as well as entertainment for Satan. Not that Will was so important that his father chose to only pay attention to him, but he was checked on from time to time to see if he'd completely given up. But even though Harm had yet to give in to despair, his screams were enough to keep Satan happy. Harm seemed to think that because he was Satan's son that he wouldn't get the same treatment as anyone else who crossed his path. Which to an extent was true, his children got it a lot worse, since they instinctually had a link to Hell you had to go that extra mile to really make sure that they got the point. But he'd begun to be bored of Harm's pained screams and wanted a bit of variation.

"Wakey wakey." Will's spiritual body crashed suddenly to the floor as his eyes gradually began to make sense of everything again. But it didn't take him long, especially when he saw his father. After all that pain and knowing who was behind it, his first impulse was of course to tear Satan so many new ones he'd look like swiss cheese, but he was able to regain his composure. If he attacked now, he'd just be sent right back into the lake. "Wow, I thought I'd have to bring you back up two or three more times before I'd be able to get a conversation out of you. Good boy." At this point, Will didn't know if he wasn't attacking because he knew that it'd be futile or because he was shaking so much. For not having actual skin or nerves his spiritual body could sure show pain.

"W-what can I say? I'm a q-quick...learner." From Satan's point of view he had totally made the right decision. Harm was still defiant after all of this, what could possibly be funnier? He was broken and just wouldn't admit it to himself. "What? Did you just take me out of there so you could laugh at me?" Oddly enough Satan had been trying to stiffle his humorous expression to this point but couldn't any longer. "Well, yes I did actually. I could always throw you back in there in you prefer. If I'm anything, I'm generous." Will couldn't stand up any longer and finally fell to the floor. "Sure Dad, you're just a...bundle of kindness..." But Will stopped midsentence as he saw the way Satan was looking at him, something finally triggered in his mind.

"You're terrified of me..." Satan raised one of his eyebrows as he looked down at Will who was still almost unable to stand. "I think you finally snapped Harm. With a wave of my hand you can go back down there and don't come back. You're just like the others, your ego overrides your common sense." By this time Will was slowly making his way back to his feet. "No no. That's what you want me to think. That you're in complete and absolute control. And for the longest time I actually thought that. But your eyes gave it away, you try to hide it, but you know I have the power to overthrow you. That's why you want me to be down there, you said it yourself, I'm exceptional." Now it was time for Will to start invading Satan's personal space as he continued to inch closer and closer.

"You really think that don't you? I fear no one, you pale imitation!" "Wow...seems like I struck a nerve there, Dad. Now whose in denial." Will couldn't believe this was actually working, maybe he really was more like Satan than he'd want to admit. He couldn't remember a time when he lied this much, but when he looked at his father he thought, how would he outsmart himself. Seems like Will isn't the only one with an ego problem. "Admit it, you know that if you gave me even the smallest bit of your power, in time I'd do what the others couldn't and take you out." Will said as he trademark smirk returned for the first time since he'd been in Hell.

"And what do I get out of this if I give you anything?" "The satisfaction of proving me wrong. But of course we both know that's not going to happen." Satan then matched Will's smirk as once again shadows loomed over them. The smirk gradually faded from Will's face as he turned around to see what was behind him.

Marx - May 5, 2005 04:03 AM (GMT)
Will found himself backing up as he saw the multiple forms staring down at him with an eerie familiarity. "I'm sure you know your other four former sponsors, Harm. They've come to know you pretty well afterall." Which they should, after supplying Harm's powers as long as they did. While Will was doing his best to at least appear confident, he had to admit that being surrounded by all 5 of the beings who supplied his original power was a little intimidating. He'd met Proew before, but this was his first time seeing Gneyre, Shogt, and Noitaerc face to face. But it was also good, in the sense that if his former sponsors were there then chances are he was about to get his abilities back. There was a chance he'd get out of here alive.

"My son here seems to be under the impression that with just a fraction of my power he'd be able to overtake my throne." Immediately the other four demons began to laugh as they looked down at Will. Normally Will's ego wouldn't have allowed them to laugh at him but he couldnt really blame them. To them he was simply another of children of Satan that would soon be killed by father. But honestly, Will could care less about who controls Hell, it was Hellfire that he wanted to take down. As long as Cassie and Greta were with him, he knew he'd be able to fight off any darkness that came with regaining his powers. But he'd need to save them first. While he didn't know how long he'd been in Hell, he could only hope that the time difference between the two realities would come into play and that it wasn't already too late.

But for now, he had to play along. "I don't care what any of you think. When it comes down to it there's only one way to find out isn't there?" Satan looked over to the other demons and let out a slight chuckle as he held out his hand. "Indeed there is." If Will had hair he'd feel it standing on end. He'd been to Hell enough to know when Satan was about to absorb someone's soul. 'Okay, maybe he'd jumped the gun just a bit' Will thought to himself, he should have known better than to think Satan would take a chance on losing his control. His worries became especially evident as everything went quickly went black.

Slowly opening his eyes, Will looked around slightly confused. If Satan had absorbed his soul, he'd be more or less done for. But he felt just fine, better than fine, even the pain of his torture was gone. Everything seemed oddly okay...until he actually stood up. For one, he knew that he was tall but he wasn't that tall. His skin wasn't dark blue before either... It then hit Will what had just happened, Satan hadn't taken his soul, he'd taken... "They had begun to annoy me anyway. I don't deal well with failure, especially if you're as powerful as they were. So you wanted a body and they had ones that they weren't using correctly. Two birds." Will couldn't even begin to hide his surprise. Sure he wanted his demonic connections back but this was just...wrong. Of course it eventually occured to Will that his current body was made from multiple demons, which made him a demon now.

"Welcome back to the land of the living. I hope you enjoy your new shell, you lose it and I'll make a point of not giving you another one. That is what you wanted wasn't it?" Satan said with an evil smirk as looked up at his son who now looked even more at home in Hell's surroundings. Not only was he huge and dark blue, but he had black spikes coming out from almost every joint, his eyes were now black and red signifying his demonic energies. The first thought to come to Will's mind was to panic, he didn't want this. It was bad enough he felt the darkness within him again even stronger than before, but...there was no way Cassie would give him the time of day now. If anything she'd kill him on sight...he was a monster now. Though unknown to Will the more desperate he got to have his old form back, he inadvertently activated what he had of Noitaerc's powers and began to shrink. Before he knew what was happening, he realized that he looked like a human teenager once more.

"Would you look at that. Your first step. Though that form takes a lot of energy as you can see, I doubt you'll be able to stay that way long." Satan wasn't lying about that, he'd taken that form by instinct but staying that way was quite the painful task. It felt like trying to force a telephone book into a tennis ball. Though what Will didn't realize was that while everything had changed, his eyes stayed the same creepy red and black as before. Like the previous time his powers were apparently still centered in his eyes so they were the one part he couldn't change.

"Attack, train, form an army. Whatever you feel the need to do, it won't make any difference to me. But when you come back and try your hand at my rule, don't think that I won't put you down like I did your other brothers and sisters. I'll simply have another one and move on." With that, the doors to the room opened and Satan reclaimed his position on his throne. Harm was tring his best to hide his frustration, Satan knew that he didn't want to be a demon, it was simply his way of getting even with Will while granting the request at the same time. And he couldn't even call his father on it because he'd been given a way out...whether he liked it or not...he had to take it. Without a word, Harm left the throne room and looked around once more amazed at how seeing it through the otherworldy eyes really did make a difference...it was beautiful. "One last thing before you go.. You do realize you've sealed your fate. You'll have to serve under me, rule, or die so you'll never make it in His good graces now. So there's only one way you'll ever be with your little girlfriend."

Satan's laugh only reminded Harm of Hellfire's as he left. He came down here for the power to keep psychos from attacking the ones he loves. And now he has it in spades, but as he'd been warned about, it came at a price...his humanity. If there was ever a time where the phrase "Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it." would be more true, Will hadn't experienced it yet. He turned back to look at the quote above Satan's throne room, the one he'd used before. "Abandon hope, all ye who enter here." Harm let out a sigh as he willed the shadows to him and let them engulf his body, he still had a job to do.
