Light! And laser beams everywhere! Don't know too much about Dr. Light II(I know, big surprise right?) know a little about Cyclops from the movies, cartoons, etc. But I'll at least assume this will be a decent brawl, as usual I'll wait to cast my vote until I hear more on the characters. So vote! Vote your hearts out!

Shinobi - May 17, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, I really dont like cyclops so he's already got a point against him in my book but i'll wait to see just how this works out. I dont know anything about light II but i do know that cyclops could punch a hole through a mountain with his blasts...

Robin - May 17, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
Well first off I don't like Cyclops. In fact, I absolutely hate the character, which is funny, since he used to be my favorite X-Man. But then of course, I blame X-writer Morrision, who turned Cyclops from a semi-well adjusted, brave, stronge and intellegent hero, into a wussy, pathetic, lying ass who cheated on the love of his life (who he spent over 40 years chasing after) with the school slut. And this is the SECOND wife that he's cheated on, mind you.

But going for a more logical stand point, I still vote for Doctor Light II. While she isn't what you would call an A-list hero, her abilities are far more versitile than Cyclops. She has all the ability of Doctor Light I, which includes light manipulation, light absorstion and so on.

Cyclops on the other hand only has his optic concussive blast, that cannot be control. And while it is a force beam, and not lazer, it does appear as a solid-light construct that Doctor Light can manipulate against Cyclops.

And of course if Cyclops loses his visor, he's for all intents an purposes blind.

And the whole blows a hole through a mountain thing never made all that much sense to me. If he can do that, then how come it takes so much ever to blast a hole through a sentiel or Wolverine's non-adamantium bodypart.

Though of course 5 years ago, I would have voted for Cyclops because of his skill as a tactician. But again, after Morrision's run in NEW X-MEN, Cyclops isn't as good as he used to be. The X-Men don't trust him as much as they used to (he cheated on Jean Grey, for a form villain Emma), and he goes through so many male-PMS mood swings, he just doens't have the same edge he used to. During the last few years the only competent strategists have been Xavier, Jean Grey and Emma Frost and Archangel. Scott just stood around whinning about how he still loved Jean, but was busy having psychic-sex with Emma Frost.

To make a long story short, Cyclops is a wussy little man whore, and Doctor Light II, while still a low-level hero, could beat him. Cyclops has become just that pathetic.

Shinobi - May 17, 2005 09:33 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, I see. Well that seals the deal over here.

NutiketAiel - May 18, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
I voted for Dr. Light. Her powers are much more versatile, and she was created specifically by one of the most powerful entities ever to exist in the DCU (the Monitor) to help combat the worst Crisis in the history of the DCU.

I kind of like Cyclops as a character, but Dr. Light is more powerful and, I think, more intelligent.

Robin - May 18, 2005 05:21 AM (GMT)
After Morrison's run on X-Men, G'nort was more intellegent than Cyclops.

NutiketAiel - May 18, 2005 04:04 PM (GMT)
G'nort is smarter than somebody? Wow... that's pretty amazing...

Robin - May 18, 2005 10:42 PM (GMT)
No, that just shows what happens when good characters fall into the hands of bad writters.

NutiketAiel - May 18, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
Or maybe G'nort has been taking correspondance courses or something.

Robin - May 18, 2005 11:37 PM (GMT)
Somehow I doubt dead people have a lot of time to take college classes through the mail.

NutiketAiel - May 19, 2005 12:26 AM (GMT)
G'nort's dead? When did that happen?

Robin - May 19, 2005 12:29 AM (GMT)
Way back in the day. He was brought back from hell during a SUPER-BUDDIES storyline, but he's just been a mindless beast.

NutiketAiel - May 19, 2005 12:33 AM (GMT)
What? Did I miss a super-buddies story? He was fine in the first one (Formerly Known as Justice League) and hasn't yet appeared in the second one (I can't believe it's not the justice league) unless I missed an issue or something...

Robin - May 19, 2005 12:36 AM (GMT)
G'nort died at some point. He's going to be brought back in the new Super-buddies story as some kind of Godzilla monster.

NutiketAiel - May 19, 2005 12:50 AM (GMT)
Oh... my... :huh:2

Robin - May 19, 2005 06:44 AM (GMT)
Makes me wonder if G'nort is going to get a ring again since the GL corp has been re-built. (I swear they've regressed the entire GL thing back to the old days.)

NutiketAiel - May 19, 2005 03:50 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't call it a regression. I thought the "old days" were infinitely better than the stories I've read about Kyle.

Robin - May 19, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
I'd disagree with that, and yeah it is regression. They've more or less disgarded alot of the character and story developements of the past few years, and put just about everyone back as square one.

Hal Jordan is free of all past responsibility, he's the ultimate GL and has nothing to regret and he's a pilot again working with Carol Danver on an airfield. John Stewart is walking, with a power ring doing the GL thing. Guy Gardner is no longer the semi-mature alien-hybrid resturant owner who has learned from his mistakes, but instead the completely immature human Green Lantern who pisses everyone off again. Kilowog is alive and I'm not at all certain when he stopped being dead. The Guardians who were resurrected by Kyle in the form of young children have suddenly and unexpectedly aged about 50 years or more so that they look just like they did before Hal went all Liza Minelli on them. The GL rings look like they have the yellow weakness again. The GL corp is returning to full force. I think the only thing different is Kyle and the fact they have a couple of female guardians.

NutiketAiel - May 19, 2005 06:21 PM (GMT)
Killowog was revived in a story called "Legacy: The Last Will and Testament of Hal Jordan" or something like that a few years ago.

Robin - May 19, 2005 07:38 PM (GMT)
Not really. Killowog's soul was transformed into a guardian of the Central Battery and at the end it was returned into the battery to rest in peace.

STOMP - May 21, 2005 03:49 AM (GMT)
Yes its regression. But to be honest I dont mind it all that much. Hal Jordon always was the ultimate GL. Stewart hasn't been a really cool character since his creation in the 70s when he was basically a black panther with a GL ring. Making Guy Gardner a normal GL again is annoying but I think his role should have never changed from a wisecracking, assinine, womanizing, horrible haircut quazi-hero. Killowog's return was awful. But at least they didn't bring back the squirrel. And I can't say I care too much about Kyle... never have. Can someone explain to me the status of the Spectre now though? I have only flipped through Rebirth 5&6 and havent seen the new miniseries with him in it. Is the Spectre at all related to HJ anymore or is it some random entity again?

Robin - May 21, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
The Specter has merged with a new host (who that is, I don't know) and has made a deal with Eclipso to destroy magic. That's all I know for certain right now.

Marx - May 31, 2005 04:29 PM (GMT)
And so Dr. Light II and Cyclops faced off and were pretty even until Dr. Light II flashed Cyclops...in both ways, distracting him enough to blast him into next week and laugh as he falls unconscious saying "Take that you wussy little man whore."
