Title: Darth Vader Quote (Episode 3 spoilers)
Marx - May 21, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
Kinda bored at the moment, so bored I'll probably post in Once and Future King which I haven't done in a whiiiiiiile. Mostly because I forgot about the story but I digress. For those who have seen Episode 3, you must know the quote I'm talking about, since the movie came out like 2 days ago, even my memory's not that bad. :P Personally me and 2 other people openly admitted to laughing at the "NOOOOOOOOO!" quote just because it sounded so goofy with James Earl Jones's voice. And yeah I know this isn't technically a spoiler but there's most likely going to be spoilers in this thread anyway so there was fair warning, go ahead and let em fly :D
robinandcora - May 21, 2005 08:53 PM (GMT)
not sure what your talking about, but i probaly would have laughed as well.(want to see movie, but can't)
Robin - May 21, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
It was hilarious! Not to mention all those 'romantic scenes' with Anikan and Padme. God, I've never seen less chemistry between two actors, unless they were in two seperate movies.
But at least it was better than the Episodes 1 & 2.
Marx - May 21, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
See, I don't completely blame the actors, just because the dialogue seemed sooo unnatural. In almost every other part all was good but when they were together it just sounded like they were reading from cue cards or something. And I totally agree it was better than 1 and 2.
Robin - May 21, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
True, but even with the worse dialogue, actors can still convey romantic chemistry (i.e. Val Kilimer and Nicole Kidman in Batman Forever). But I swear, some of that dialogue was like out of a really bad fan fic. lol. Its kinda sad when Yoda had some of the best dialogue.
Marx - May 21, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
He so did! lol And the professionals say that they don't read the fanfics. Lies, it's all lies! They just apparently only remember the bad ones...

ok, in England you have to book at the cinemas if you want to see this movie. I called up and the next free performance was at 10 pm!! I booked it of course :D
Why am i telling you this? because every single seat was taken in the place and I was the ONLY one who laughed! Out of like, at least 200 people!! I found it so funny i almost couldn't breathe, maily becasue i was covering my mouth to not bug the other people.
No one i know likes star wars!! My dad only kinda likes it and only took me to stop me singing the Empire song "Dun Dun Dun, Dun du Dun, Dun du Dun" and "Dad....You are my Father"
Oh! and at the Cinema was....Darth Vader, a random Stormtrooper, Bobba Fett and Yoda! real ones! and i have a picture with them!! W00T!!
May the Force be with you...
Marx - May 22, 2005 09:18 PM (GMT)
lol I think I was the only one who laughed when I saw it too. But it wasn't really that crowded ironically enough, just scattered people for the most part. Everyone laughed at the Yoda throwing the strormtroopers part though. He soo rooocks! And only my family really likes Star Wars, probably going to end up seeing it again with one of them.
Robin - May 22, 2005 09:23 PM (GMT)
Oh, I was laughing my ass off when Vader said 'NOOO!'
And hell ya Yoda Rocks! He's the only thing that made Episode 2 worth seeing. He's my favorite Jedi.
I'm planning to see the movie again tuesday, with my friend Jessica. We both agreed that we'd see seperately, so that we'd be able to watch it with our full attention, but then we're going to see it again so that we can make our own commentary about the movie without the fear of being lynched by over-weight, costume wearing uber-star Wars fans who would kill anyone for talking.
atlantis - May 22, 2005 09:31 PM (GMT)
You know, I think My favorite Jedi is Obi-Wan, Simply becasue we KNOW Yoda roxx and is teh Jedi Master, yet Obi-Wan has honour and humility, He told Anikin he was a better Jedi than himself but when it came down to it he took Sithboy out.
I nearly saw it again saturday but i didn;t have enough blackmail material on my friend, she refused point blank.
Marx - May 22, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
That line was a spoof waiting to happen. Its just a matter of time lol. And I agree, the only thing I can even really remember about Episode 2 is that Anakin's arm and Yoda kickin ass. And how many people can fight you and then fit into really small pipes to get away? None...except maybe Mighty Mouse but he isn't as cool and there's no awesome backwards talk.
Robin - May 22, 2005 09:38 PM (GMT)
Well Mighty Mouse and the Atom...
But Obi-Wan is cool, no question, but a pocket size jedi is just too nifty.

((Spoilers))
K, just saw it... I guess I didn't like it enough or something cuz the force or the powers that be or whatever decided it would be fun to throw a deer in front of my car on the way home. But yeah, here's my question... did Lucas kinda over-do Mace Windu's powers just cuz it's Samuel L. (one of the only decent actors) in the film or to give the only black jedi a blaze of glory finish or was palpatine toying with him to turn Anakin?
Robin - May 29, 2005 07:23 PM (GMT)
A deer... That's... not a perverbal comment is it?
No Lucas wrote Mace Windu as a jedi only second to Yoda so his powers were appropriate. He was supposed to be one of the prime leaders of the Jedi counicl because of his skills and abilities. It had nothing to do with race and Palpatine would have died had Anikian not showed up.
STOMP - May 29, 2005 11:54 PM (GMT)
Nahhh we hit a deer... sucked.
See i think palpatine was only losing cuz he knew anakin would show up. Mace is the man but palpatine tore through those other four jedi (one of which was my fav) and they were all masters. Anakin never would've turned if Windu hadn't decided he wanted to kill Palpatine... the dark side basically controlled everything during this entire trilogy even the jedi's decisions.
Robin - May 30, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
There were only three other jedi with Mace. And none of them where his level of skill. And Windu was right. They had no choice. If they didn't kill him, they wouldn't have been able to beat him politically. Anikian's arrival only gave Palpatine the edge he needed.
The Dark Side didn't control Windu's decision. It controlled Anikians betrayal.
STOMP - May 30, 2005 01:41 AM (GMT)
There aint one answer man. That's the beauty with Star Wars... everyone can have theories... most of em aren't wrong. Noone but Lucas knows how deep Palpatine's control over everyone really ran. I do know Sam Jackson talked to Lucas about how Windu was gonna die. He wanted the blaze of glory and I liked how it turned out. Honestly that was one of the best scenes in the movie.
Falcon - May 30, 2005 07:46 PM (GMT)
Saw star wars last week and loved it....more than the last two anyways. Also got the reference and laughed so hard even my mom(who already knows I can be a bit weird) was giving me strange looks. I'm amazed I'm the only one who caught it. Everyone in my family are large Star Wars fans (Cept' for my sister who say she doesn't understand why its so great about it...infidel.) I heard somewhere that the guy who played anakin is gay and my aunt apparently saw an online video of it, so maybe thats why there was hardly any chemistry between him and Padme.....or just bad acting~shurugs~
Jakazul - June 16, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
I'm braced for impact. I just voted that 'cause I though it was pointless, but not at all funny and I haven't seen Scary Movie.
Anyway, the best "noooo" line was The Emporor's when he's at the window ledge and he's like groaning it out. That was funny and SO stupid.
It's the worst voice I've heard in a movie except possibly Christian Bale's "I'm Batman". I got used to his voice, but that line annoyed me.
Marx - June 17, 2005 01:44 PM (GMT)
......
*ties Jake up, makes my secretary force feed him popcorn while I force him to watch Scary Movie 1&2, but 3's optional*
And I don't think I've heard the "I'm Batman" line yet.
Jakazul - June 17, 2005 07:28 PM (GMT)
Well you might not've. I went to the midnight showing of Batman Begins. We got advance tickets like two weeks early so that we could make it to the first showing, but I don't think the "I'm Batman" line is on any of the previews. It makes sense that it would sound weird though, it's one of the few parts that's similar to the other movies. lol Val Kilmer had the best Batman voice, but Bale's by FAR the best actor of them all.
And thankyou for making me watch Scary Movie, but all this popcorn's making my mouth water. Does your secretary have slurpage?
