Photoshop? That or GIMP, I'd guess, but almost no one uses GIMP.

I need to learn to do more dramatic shading, yes...

It's rather simple. You draw it out in black and white, scan it in, and use a photo editting program like Photoshop to manipulate the image and voila.

I mean sharper highlights/shadows. I've done that (drawn in black and white to start), and I still can't get them right.

Besides, shading with pure black and white isn't good except in the darkest/lightest spots.
