Title: World of Warcraft

Illidan - November 9, 2004 05:50 AM (GMT)
It's greatly depressing me. The only game, heck, the only real thing I enjoy except for some RPG battles / browing the internet is Warcraft 3. Warcraft 3 is already dieing / dead and will lose an inordinate amount of players compared to the gaming community at large to WoW. (Same type of gamers, by and large, same universe, etc. etc.)

If you assume 50$ for game, 30$x2 for expansion packs, the total cost of playing WoW over only 3 years (I'll have played Warcraft 3 for that long, I think) is :

Paying month by month: $650
Paying in six-month increments: $578

For two years

Month by month: $470
6 month increments: $422

Compared to the.. oh, $70 I paid for Warcraft 3 and the expansion pack. I mean, I know they're producing new content, but..

650$ is around how much my computer cost 3 years ago, and I'm still using it, and it can play the Doom 3 demo, Unreal Tournament 2004 demo.

I don't know whether this is a rant, or a whine, or the deranged product of a hopeless mind. Maybe someone will have words of wisdom for me.
