Title: Need some help...
Description: Which system shall I get?

Atrophy Within - December 16, 2004 03:58 AM (GMT)
Ok, I am debating in either getting a Game Cube, or Playstation 2. The Game Cube is $79, while the PS2 is $129.99 (These are refurbished, used ones). If I get the Game Cube instead, I can use the money I saved, $50, towards a few used games. The problem... Playstation 2 has WAY more fun games than the Game Cube. Red Faction, Ace Combat 4 and 5, Spyro, and a million others I like a hell of alot more than any Game Cube game. I like alot fo the old Playstation games too. I can play them on the PS2. If I get a Game Cube, my selection of games to play is much more limited, as well I don't know many games other than the Zoids game that would interest me asside from all the new games that are $50 a peice. Now, do note I DO like alot of Game Cube games, they just happen to be the newer ones which will cost me a pretty penny.

My main question is... Should I get the Game Cube and use the spare $50 to buy one game since thats all $50 will get me, even though the games I like more are on PS2.... Or, should I get the PS2 and spend more for the system and have to pay extra for games I need or like? In time I will have both systems, so, basically this is a what should I get first question. Any suggestions? Oh, and money isn't really a factor, I can afford both right now if I wanted, but yeah... Two new systems means alot of sleepless nights paying games. I was going to base what system I get on what one Price of Pursia, Warrior Within was on, but the damn thing is on all systems it seems... hehe.. Meh, I'm leaning towards the PS2 now that I ahd time to think about it before I made this edit, but yeah.... What do all of you think?

As much as I'd love to say GameCube (*waves his "Nintendo fanboy" sign*), it would appear that your tastes scream for the Playstation 2. Both are extremely cool. PS2 doesn't have Battle Legends though. I'd go by controllers, especially for Prince of Persia, but both the Gamecube and the PS2 have excellent controller set-ups. If you like Prince of Persia, go with the PS2. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time contains the original Prince of Persia also, so you'll have all three of the titles that go together in one system. ((Sands of Time picks up from Prince of Persia 1, and Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and The Flame ends up serving something of an alternate way of doing things.))

EDIT: Just learned something new. The original PoP is indeed on the GCN version. However, you need a GBA, Sands of Time for the GBA, and the cable to connect the GBA to the GCN. To boot, you have to find three hidden switches in the GBA version, which will then unlock PoP1 in the GCN version.

EDIT2: Wrong again. You can unlock it w/o the GBA. IT's just harder to do.

Nahhhhhhhh. Ps2 sucks, Im not just saying this because I have an Xbox, but because I have all 3, and Xbox is the best out of all of them. Gamecubes better though, and for a low price, you can get more games, and GCN has a ton of em. I recommend Metroid series, SSMB, Medal of Honor series, or PSO for an RPG. I also recommend not buying a used game, as half of the time they dont work :-D

That's an awesome RPG. I liked it so much, I actually played all the way to Ultimate level (so all the creatures changed their looks). Took a VERY long time to do that. Dark Falz Third Form on very hard is a pain in the arse (mainly the Grants attack).

As for which system to buy... well I like PS2 and Gamecube, but if you have more games you want for the Station pick that up. I'm picking one up this Christmas... mainly for Armored Core and Final Fantasy though.

Accualy, Game Stop, the place in which I buy used games, has a policy that says if the game doesn't work, they don't sell it. As well, the ones by me refuse to buy back any scratched games, however little the scratch may be.

Xbox... That was the bestest waste of time I ever sepnt at work to buy. I hate it... Don't ask why.

I might go with the PS2. I really want the Game Cube since I can play all the original nintendo games which were rerelaesed for the GBA, but all the added stuff to buy to make that work is... not worth it. I could buy the original Nintendo system and games for half the price.....

Game Cube has Zoids games unlike PS2 (though PS2 is releasing a JP Zoid game).

Need to know some GCN games that might interest you? Well, here's a list!

Gamecube games!
-Metroid Prime (FPA, First Person Adventure)
-Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker (Action Adventure)
-Super Smash Bros. Mellee (Fighting)
-Skies of Arcadia Legend (Turn Based RPG)
-Tales of Symphonia (Well, it's a realtime RPG, but controls somewhat like a fighting game. Do some reasearch on it first)
-Super Mario Sunshine (3D Platformer)
-Animal Crossing (Sort of its own genre, somewhat similar to Harvest Moon but without the farming, like ToS, research first)
-Zoids Battle Legends/VS2 (Action)
-Tony Hawk's Underground (Skateboarding, what else?)
-The Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures (Co-op 2D Action Adventure, however its single player mode is still awesome)

And there's more, but some people might consider them mediocre while most of the ones listed above generally everyone considers great (key words, most and generally, not every one likes them all)

Plus, a good amount of those are Players Choice, and others just normally cheap.

And, this is completely off topic, but I can't help myself :D

PC games
-Half-Life (FPS)

Buy it. Now. I command you to. It is now my favorite game (and I didn't even like FPSes previously)

ZELOS!! *glomps*

As you command.... :P

Naw, I already have Half-Life. Great game. I need a few of those Gamecube games you listed though. Yeah, I'll be buying more for sure.

if you are buying a game console don't settle for less, if u like the games on ps2 then get one, unfortunately some games are only available for one console, so yeah it'll be hard for you to pick! i have a borrowed ps2 and i think i'm gonna buy it off my friend that i borrowed it from, and maybe even a Xbox!

Kirbymaster212 - January 7, 2005 11:13 PM (GMT)
ok well I absolutly hate PS2 so... alas... my post will be a bit... "opinionated" at times...

anyway for me the game consle ratings are:

Gamecube
Xbox

....oh... there's another one... oh...

PS2....

yeah... PS2 is really for your turn based RPG type person... I dont like RPGs much... especially turn based....

so yeah I would go with gamecube... so many better games...
