Title: I finally got PS 7 & ImageReady!
Description: Legit, too!

Blade - December 18, 2004 01:37 AM (GMT)
Yeah the thread title says it all, and I decided to take ImageReady out for a spin by modifying an already popular image.

You've all seen the above image. Well I took ImageReady out for a test drive and here's what I made:

It took me about 5 mins because of some layer re-ordering. I was hpoing that I could use it as an AIM Icon, but the file size couldn't be shrunk down due to the amount of frames in it. What do you think? I've used ImageReady before to make a 5 second Spiderman clip, but this i the first thing I've down on my own ImageReady.

By the way...I disclaim authority over the original; the second one was a modification so it's technically not mine.

WHAT DO YOU WANT A FRICKEN COOKIE! IT SUCKS!

Lol jk nice transitions you could try getting rid of half the transition frames that usally works

Blade - December 18, 2004 09:01 PM (GMT)
If I did then it wouldn't look as smoothly flowing.

Tilly - December 19, 2004 12:29 AM (GMT)
Did you optimize it? Dunno what it is in ImageReady, but Animation Shop and GIMP both will ditch unchanged pixels, and with some poking that can *really* take down the size of animations.

Blade - December 19, 2004 01:34 AM (GMT)
Yes I saved Optimized As but I doubt it did much to the file size. I had far too many frames, so it was rather impossible to shrink it to less than 8 KB.

K-62 - December 28, 2004 03:33 AM (GMT)
Clap, clap, clap. Skillful.
How did you get such a smooth animation? I know you probaly use alot of frames, but I can never get something to flow that smoothly. I usually use 50-100+ frames. Please, share.

Blade - December 28, 2004 04:46 PM (GMT)
Thank you for the compliments, K-62. It wasn't that hard actually. I just duplicated a layer of each of the frames (3 total was what it started with) and changed opacities to 75, 50, 25 at every frame which had a .2 second delay. And then I just added extra frames at the end so it'd smoothly flow back to the first part instead of jumping to it.

Sad thing is when I optimized it, those dots showed up during each transition. I'll save an un-optimized version and show you the thing without any dots.

EDIT: An updated one..just slightly less grainy.

there's a much easier way to do that.

Create three frames, each one with one of the images visible and the other two hidden (first frame will have only image1 visible, the other two hidden, 2nd frame has 2nd image...etc..)

highlight the 2nd frame and click on tween in the lil side menu...pick as many frames as you want...no matter what, you'll get a very smooth transition

here's what i got with some Rockman images using only 4 frames in-between...it's small but still bigger than the AIM icon size plus it's only 80K...if you did the same with the AIM icon it should be about 40K or so using only 3 frames

To do what?

And wtf is "tween" on the "lil side menu"?

tadaz...

tweening is a tool that helps you create transition frames..it works for fading, moving, color changing, etc...the most important tool in animation IMO

Blade - December 28, 2004 11:05 PM (GMT)
Ah I see, it worked out but the problem is it didn't stop those grains from getting away. Thanks for the tutorial tho :)

K-62 - December 28, 2004 11:26 PM (GMT)
I couldnt get the tween to work but here's one I just did.

As you cn see its not that smooth.

About ten frames.

Blade - December 28, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
The lack of smoothness on that one is only due to there being only two inconsistent frames. If there was an image of a transformation in between those two,t hen you could get it nice and smooth.

K-62 - December 29, 2004 02:01 AM (GMT)
I finally made a perfect one. I'm using it as my avatar. Thanks for the tips.

The Zombie - January 6, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
Guess me and Fuzz ae the only ones who know how to use the tween to its best extent...

Blade - January 6, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
It probably isn't the "best extent" as you call it. You haven't used ImageReady all your life.... Until you have, you can't say you know how to use it to the best extent.

The Zombie - January 6, 2005 11:43 PM (GMT)
Thats not the way I meant it... <_<

Blade - January 6, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
Well that's what you clearly implied.

At any rate, we're starting to spam in this thread so let's put an end to it from...now.

The Zombie - January 7, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
Well, I speak in riddles sometimes...

Yes, no more canned meat.

Capitila - January 15, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
Heh, makes me want to make some more little animations.. They're pretty good, but I rather things that don't just go from one picture to another. To each his own, though.

I used a couple of tweening techniques in Flash MX to make some animations, though I don't think GIMP has the ability to do it, and I haven't downloaded GAP (GIMP animation program).

Congrats on getting PS 7, Blade. My cousin has it and I had a play around on it, just before the computer died on me.

Blade - January 16, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
Thanks Caps.

I want to get Flash ;_;

I don't have that much use for it though since I don't make many websites now :P

Hetman - January 16, 2005 01:52 AM (GMT)
You have Flash MX, Caps? Real deal or crack or burnt?

Capitila - January 16, 2005 09:13 AM (GMT)
Eh, have you ever known me to buy a program before?
I downloaded the trial, which expired, and I can't be bothered finding a crack. Also have it at school, so I don't use it all too much.
I'd like to find someone who has it so they can burn it for me, but no luck as of yet.

I do... also comes along with Dreamweaver MX and Director 8.5, but your too far away. :P

Capitila - January 16, 2005 10:09 AM (GMT)
Gah, no I'm not! lol

Hetman - January 16, 2005 10:15 AM (GMT)
Well.... I'm not walking all the way to your house. :D

Blade - January 19, 2005 01:49 AM (GMT)
OOC: Meh, I can just imagine Hetman walking with a big staff crossing the Outback....

no no no...it's much more fun to ride in the pouch of a Kangaroo ^_^...right???

*runsbeforeheisbeaten*

Hetman - January 19, 2005 09:19 AM (GMT)
You idiots. Its called 'taking the train to the city' but I can't be bothered... I live in the suburbian areas of Sydney.

DrkX, you said a kangaroo eh? Yeah, it would be pretty useful to kick both your asses with. :D

Drk-X - January 20, 2005 12:28 AM (GMT)
not if i sic my army of penguins on it first....w00t...

*sets up barricade of stuffed penguins*

lolz, anyways..........

Blade - January 20, 2005 01:11 AM (GMT)
*shovel2urcrotch*
Take that, Fuzzy. That's for spamming.

Now I have a question...anyone know how I can get rid of that grain-y effect that I get when it moves from frame to frame?

Drk-X - January 20, 2005 04:41 AM (GMT)
how unoriginal...

*sidestepsnon-existantshovel*

only i have a shovel...

and use more frames.....or save to a higher quality...

The Zombie - January 25, 2005 06:33 PM (GMT)
Um, I think you can do it with the tween option. I'm not sure... I haven't used it in a while...
