Title: Gots me a Gamecube....
Description: Muahahaha
Atrophy Within - December 30, 2004 07:49 AM (GMT)
Yuppers... I just bought a Gamecube. What fun. It's so damn small. I thought it would be bigger, or, at least the commercials make it look bigger. Same for the damn big box. Meh, that just means it won't hit the ground so hard and break when I knock it over.
Anyways, I got me one of those mini controllers so I could play with a friend. As well, I bought Zoids Battle Legends, Red Faction II, Top Gun, and Reign of Fire to play. The Zoids game is more than I expected it to be... Sooo damn hard to beat.. Meh, I'm used to te PS controller. That mini controller is so damn small.
Anyone else have the pleasure of owning a Gamecube? If so, whata re some good games for me to get? I will already be getting the Spyro games and Price of Persia. Perhaps I'll get Soul Caliber II. Meh, what do all of you think??

Good thing I rarely need cheats. :D Though.... I could use a few for Zoids Battle Legends.
VegaObscuraTheKing - December 30, 2004 03:26 PM (GMT)
The Resident Evil (1 and 0---and 4 when it comes out, mostly) games will do.
Steve - December 30, 2004 03:45 PM (GMT)
Good move buying a Gamecube, Lycan. ^_^
ZBL is difficult to master, but once you get a hang of the controls, it's not so bad...
Drk-X - December 30, 2004 06:40 PM (GMT)
Definately get Soul Calibur 2 :P :P :P (Seung Mina!!!! ^_^)
and there's also SSBM, the Metroid Prime series, the LoZ series, and if you want...Starfox Legends which comes out soon...oh yeah...and Resident's Evil 4...
König Warrior - December 30, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
Welcome to the Gamecube owning life Lycan..
ZBL.. it seems hard to one who hasn't played it before.. like me when I started.. but it gets loads easier when you get used to it. ZBL however.. you shouldn't need cheats to beat.
Good games for Gamecube.. I'd say some older ones like Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes(which is new), I also liked Star Fox Adventures, though I am a fan of the whole Star Fox line(can't wait for the new one coming out Feb.14th!), I have beaten Star Fox Adventures 4 times though.. which is funny.. first time it took me a month (I wasn't playing constantly), other 3 times it took a week(I played about 2 hours a day.. plus I knew what to do this time).
I didn't get a lot of games but I got some good ones. I like all of the Sonic the Hedgehog games for gamecube myself.. but I don't know if they would interest you.. it depends on what kind of game you like (i.e. FPS, adventure, action, etc.) I also got Robotech: Battlecry.. it's nothing new.. but the only Robotech game for GC.. I thought it was decent.
Also I imported Freeloader and VS III.. which was mainly an improvment of ZBL.. harder actually.. but two difficulty levels.. the 4 battle modes were easiest.. and mission mode was tricky to get through, depending on the path you take. (there is only one mission mode in VS III.. but 20 missions.) I haven't played the zoids games in a while recently though, loss of interest.. but I was in the middle of going for S ranks to unlock ultra Z's and Liger Zero Falcon in VS III.
Enough of that.. there's my bit.

Do you already have an Xbox? Why would you buy a gamecube rather then an xbox? Xbox owns it..I know to, i got all of em.
Zelos - December 30, 2004 09:37 PM (GMT)
Defiantly get Metroid Prime! It's a must. The sequel, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, is also awesome (Playing it right now), but it's better to start with the first, plus it's cheaper.
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is also good, don't pay attention to what people say about it being too easy, the sailing boring, or the graphics ugly. It is easier then Ocarina of Time and other Zelda games, but that in no way means it's bad. The sailing CAN be boring, but that's no reason to hate it. And people who say the graphics are ugly have either never seen it in person, or hate cell shading and cartoons.
Tales of Symphonia is a great RPG, with a good length (quite long if you want to do EVERYTHING in the game, somewhere around 40 hours just to beat the main storyline, with an extra 20-30 or so for sidequests. Plus getting everything requires mulitple playthroughs...), and an awesome battle system (I can't explain it that well, just now it's NOT turn based. Just research it some to see for yourself). The plot is somewhat cliched at the beginning, but gets better. And, don't forget it has Zelos in it!
Skies of Arcadia Legends is another great RPG. It IS turnbased, but its battle system is still good, and the ship battles are awesome (also turn based). It also has a cliched plot, but near the end it gets really good. Plus it has Ramirez! (And A Zelos too, but not the good one...)
And I have more, but since I'm getting tired of describing everything, here's a list,
-Animal Crossing
-Baten Kaitos
-Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door
-Mario Kart Double Dash!!
-Super Smash Bros Melee
-Super Mario Sunshine
-----------------
EDIT: And that's an opnion, |8|)219. For you, maybe it does. But there's really only two or three games I'd want for XBox (And, no, I DO NOT want Halo/2) while I have 15+ for Gamecube and love them all (All the games I listed I have. plus a few more).
As far as I see it,
Gamecube- Some RPGs, most with unique battle systems. Mario. Zelda. Uniqueness (Look, I made a word!). Fantasy graphics, inlcuding cell shading.
Playstation 2- Lots of turn based RPGs, including Final Fantasy. Platforming. A little of a lot of things.
XBox- First Person shooters, including Halo/2. Heavy action. Pretty much no Japanese RPGs, with a few Western ones (Fable, Morrowind, and to an extent KOTOR). Realistic graphics.
And Gamecube fits me the best, though a PS2 would be nice.
|8|)219 - December 30, 2004 09:43 PM (GMT)
The graphics in zelda do suck..I have it, beat it..Don't buy it, a new Zelda should be coming out..
Zelos - December 30, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
Read my edit, which I will now edit again...
|8|)219 - December 30, 2004 10:38 PM (GMT)
Ahh yes, your edit..What happens to be it's purpose?
König Warrior - December 30, 2004 10:59 PM (GMT)
The new Zelda looks really cool. Link's all grown up.. which means more action probably, also some equine fighting.

That you prefer the games of XBox (and its more realistic, "better" graphics) while other people like the games of Gamecube more.
I just don't see why some people just can't accept that all consoles have their own strengths, weaknesses, and some are better suited for certain people then others. Just because YOU like XBox and realistic graphics more, doesn't mean everyone will. I think Windwaker's graphics are great, because I LIKE and PREFER cell shading over realistic (Not that realistic is bad, I am excited about the new Legend of Zelda).
Different people have different opinions, don't try to force them on people.
Fg-Dark_Monk - December 31, 2004 03:58 AM (GMT)
I have one.
Mini controller?! Whats that?

...just because you happen to be an Xbox fanboy doesnt mean that we have to be either...It's an opinion...if you don't like GCN, keep it to yourself...if people just stated every single opinion they had, I can guarantee that this would be the most unfriendliest board ever...which I doubt anyone here wants...
anyways...
ahh yes, LoZ 2005...yes there will be a lot of horseback fighting and from the trailer, the scenery looks beautiful and the world map is VERY vast...Wind Waker's overworld was already gigantic compared to Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past but this new game has an even more vast area...the fields stretch on, and the forests go very deep...I'm sure that people who play the new Zelda game will abuse any form of warping *coughwarpsongscough* :P :P :P :P :P
does anyone want to see the trailer btw? I'd be more than happy to upload it for you guys to see it....

Hey dont be an *******..im not a fanboy. I was advised not to talk to you by someone of the mods because you are a **** head, so, please do not quote or talk to my post, and therefore peace will be kept on the forums..Thank you.
VegaObscuraTheKing - December 31, 2004 05:35 PM (GMT)
woah woah woah, calm the **** down.
|8|)219, if said person wanted a GAMECUBE let 'em get it. I'm thinking about getting a cheap-used one for RE 4.
Fuzion...be tolerant of ^'s opinion...the right is ^'s. (see Free Speech). If one wants to be a fanboy, let one. If one is ********, however, feel free to smite one down. XD
*points to me* I had Xbox since it came out. I love it. I had a Gamecube, but had barely any games for it...you see.

I only remotely like the X-box for it's range of online play. Thats the only thing good about it. Graphics match the Gamecube and PS2 easily. Not many games are strickly for X-box, though there ARE a few. AND!!! Gameboy Advanced has alot of old nintendo games for it that are exact in the playing. Gamecube has an adaptor to play those games on the tv without using a nintendo. Thats par for me liking it so much. Buying all the components, along with the games and GBA is a pain, but it's well worth it.
Gamecube also wil have an adaptor for Super Nintendo games as well soon if not already.
PS2 has the best game range, but like I said, it has less features.
In the end, PS2 is known for it's great range of games and graphics, X-box is known for it's amazing online play and versitility, and Gamecube is known for it's usefulness and ability to play different game formats (Gameboy, Super Nintendo and Nintendo)
And, you guys seem to think I know the abbreviations of these games youa re listing. LoZ?? Meh, I'm aimming for Starfox, Price of Purshia, both of them, and maybe a few Resident Evils. They are all cheap since I have an employee discount at Meijers which already has cheap prices. Thanks to that Madcat company that makes cheap controlers and memory cards, I saved over $30 to go towards more games.
*reads posts* Typos.... Meh, oh well.

that would stand for "Legend of Zelda" a great series...

I actually highly doubt that....mainly with the fact that most SNES games have been ported to GBA...of course there are still a few that are must-have and haven't been ported such as Tales of Phantasia, ChronoTrigger, Super Mario RPG, and some of the FF games...
the other reason being that SNES games are no longer made...
*example*
kid: "yayz!!! I just spent $50 on an SNES adaptor when I coulda bought an old SNES console off ebay for much less...too bad no games are coming out for it and no one sells em except on ebay and the good games are really hard to find"
~meanwhile, his neighbor sits in front of his computer using "R'andom O'blivious M'oo-cows" (<=crappy acronym) for free....~
yeah...

Same. I personally own both X-Brick and Gamecube (I got X-Brick instead of PS2). I can also safely say that each of them have their strong points. A few years ago, I would have never thought of getting a Brick, but once I actually did I learned that it was quite the good system.
It seems that people can respect certain systems more when they actually own them. Kind of sad though because not everyone owns every new console and as such, there is much hate between the fanboys of each console.
I still need a PS2 though... Xenosaga (all), Final Fantasy (X and X-2), Armored Core. That's 100+ hours of gameplay right there.
But if you got a Gamecube, I suggest the Resident Evil series (particually REmake and RE 0). Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 and 2 are also quite good, but it's also for the Brick (and they have better online play). Cubivore is good for those weird moments. Same with Animal Crossing. Skys of Arcadia was also a VERY nice RPG, but it had little replay value if you beat the four large beasts. I have yet to play Tales of Symphonia or Baten Kaitos though (probably won't get Kaitos).

w00t GAMECUBE > PS2
anyway... game suggestions (rummages through game drawer)
Well, we've got: gah... good old animal crossing... very addicting at first... until a younger sibling gets addicted to it and deletes your town >.<
Then we have The Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker. It was a pretty good game, kinda old now, you might wanna wait till the new one comes out...
Then we of course of the Sonic games... great games... I would go with Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Its the best one. Great story line and gameplay. Then you could always try Sonic Heroes.
Then we have Super Smash Bros.: Melee... the BEST party game ever on the Gamecube... very fun... unfortunatly mine doesnt work right now...
We also have games like:
The Metroid Prime games (get both... you know you want to!)
Godzilla: Destroy all Monster Melee (but if you have Xbox you might just want Godzilla: Save the Earth)
Custom Robo (AWESOME GAME... best story line ever!!!!!!!!!!1111one2111eleventyonedysixty1agasixhowdidaoneImeansixgetthere!11!!!!111exclamation point!!!!111!!!)
and of course: KIRBY AIR RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aardwulf - January 8, 2005 12:35 AM (GMT)
My sister and her boyfriend have an Xbox, and I was really impessed with the graphics - particularly on Dead or Alive 3 (I think? not sure on the number), which is beautiful. I'm not real hot to trot on buying one myself, just because I've got enough games for my GC and PS2 to last me a while. (I just finished Kingdom Hearts a couple weeks ago...like, two years after I got it. I play slooooow.)
Anyhoo, Lycan. I don't have a lot of GC games, but I recommend
Beyond Good and Evil (the review is for the Xbox version, but it's available for GC too) and
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. In the case of the latter, game with characters going insane=TEH KEWLZIES.
