Title: Comment option on sites
Capitila - January 19, 2005 05:45 AM (GMT)
Well I'm fiddling around with some site stuff, and I'd like to get the option for people to post comments on updates. Very similar to what Duo had on ZE, I remember there was a link on the main site to the program thing, but seeing as though the update is going on (?) it's not there.
Anyone know of any scripts, or the name of what Duo was using?

there's Fusion News which was used on ZE but everyone I know who's been using Fusion News have switched to Cute News..including me XD

Gah, thank you very much, exactly what I was looking for.

Almost everyone, I still use Fusion News, what's the difference? It seems to have the same features..*reads* hmm it does sound a bit better. But then I lose all my news and cutenews doesn't look as mature as Fusion.

congrats...that passes as the stupidest thing i ever heard in my life...
NEVER judge a program by it's name...by that you're also saying CuteFTP and CutePHP are also crap...even though I find them to be some of the most useful scripts out there...
CuteNews has a hella lot more features and is hella more customizable...also Fusion News tends to be buggy every once in a while but CuteNews has always been reliable for me...Also...you have much better control of the comments system....the ranking system for posters is very handy...

*points* I took at look at cutenews and it's ok, and I wasn't judging by it's name, I was judging by the screenshots  (which to a degree is the same thing), started my other site (
ZoidsGenesis.com) using cutenews, it's ok but I found the readme files lacking, it didn't say I had to make the file a php file (the home page), whereas fusion used the .shtml, but it's ok...I guess....

I'd be careful about registering domains with likely long-ago trademarked names in them...and the "maybe we could work out a deal" thing won't cut it if they decide to smite you for domain name squatting, as it were.
I'm just saying...

Yeah, Microsoft got a couple of domains which included 'Microsoft' and 'msn' shut down, threatening legal action. Wouldn't be surprised if Tomy or Hasbro did the same for a series they own. "We could work out a deal" is a little hopeful, I doubt they'd try and buy it off you, they could just get you shut down and register it themselves.
But then again, maybe they don't care. The NC0 site was www.zoidbattles.com or something, I think.

zoidsbattle, I think. Either way, yeah. That used to be a problem for companies, but now they've pretty much got the right to smite like that, or at least the swarms of lawyers. Especially with how you got it after hearing about the series and it's not just a case of fansite overlap...

O.o not good, very bad, ok everyone wipe the domain ZoidsGenesis.com from your minds! Now! *uses highly advanced mind wiping technology to erase ZoidsGenesis.com from everyone* ok! If nobody knows it exists, then it doesn't.
I tried to be nice, that way if they do sue me, they'll go easy on me. But seriously though, I'm just a teenager, my parents have no idea I have web hosting (I'm serious), and I can't be forced into a lawsuit or legal complications. I guess if Hasbro or Tomy starts emailing me I'll quickly hand it over and leave, I'll even let them have the domain for free as long as I don't get dragged into anything.

and why did you bump a 20 day old thread???
ZeRoRaVeN - February 25, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
I was looking though the forum's topics, I was bored.....
Drk-X - February 25, 2005 05:10 PM (GMT)
old topics aren't meant to be bumped...this isn't the spam forum so the rules do apply here...
HaTcH - February 25, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)
Ok shh you too.
If its necessary to post in a 20 day old topic, whats the harm? Really, there hasn't been action outside of the spam fourm anyway.
