How many of you like Anime. I mean actualy read the manga, watch it, not some yugioh or pokemon crap, (there's a term for that: posers), and not like "oh I like Zoids, I'm a Anime fan".

And about the chienese comics choice, sometimes when I read manga at school ignorant people come up to me and say things like "why do you like that chienese comic stuff so much"..and so on.

I always use the life is a illusion choice in all the polls I make (not only this forum, actualy this is like my first poll here. Don't you ever wonder if life was all in your head, like none of the other people actualy exists and that their responses are simply things your brain makes up but you're not aware of it? Or if the Matrix is really true, that we're all just minds living in a imaginary worlds and one day...one day we will wake up.

I like anime. I don't sleep with manga, but I do read it. I'd like to point out that Yu-Gi-Oh is NOT crap. Yu-Gi-Oh as most Americans know it has been severely kiddified, as have many other animes. And the Yu-Gi-Oh manga has a much darker, more mature feel to it than the anime. If you're going to put something down, at least back it up.

I was refering to the American yugioh because that's what everyone mostly read/watched, and FYI I have read the "darker" yugioh, (in my shonen jump) it however is almsot completely different from the series we know. It's mostly about yugi except his "other" challendges and plays games, oh did I mention you get alot more violence, but I don't like it because there're little storyline, he simply goes around life using violent games to solve his problem.

I love anime and manga. Though, I really only just started reading manga..I've read one or two things from on-line before but I've gotten more into it now.

EDIT: Way to go, Mav. My point exactly. Read te original Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, watch the original series. Much more mature. I mean, numerous characters were almost killed in the original series. And a bunch of the male cast (Yugi, Joey, Tristan, Gramps, Rex Raptor...) are frikkin' PERVERTS!!! It's funny as hell.
And Bakura did essentially rip Pegasus' eye out. even if it wasn't a real eye.

...I used to watch Pokemon and Digimon, but I got bored with Digimon, and fed up with Pokemon's repitition and terrible animation.

I usually prefer american animation over Japanese animation... 'tis much smoother. Hell, even in really, really well animated anime, (Like "Spirited away, for example,) it still has that jerky-ness in it... and I prefer the variation among art style in american animation. Anime doesn't have enough variation in it... it all looks inherently similar. There's variations within it, but it's still the same style.

I find it hilarious that calling anime "cartoons" and manga "comics" pisses some people off. WTF Look in a dictionary, the definitions are fine. XD But "manga" IS easier to write than "Japanese comics".

It's funny that you say that. XD I mean, you're right in a way, a lot of anime/manga follows a general style, and variations get lost within it when viewed by people who aren't familiar with it. I draw anime-ish, cuz it's fun and expressive, and I just recently found my "style". Though I've had a couple people say it looks like a combination between American and Japanese styles. Wha? XD Okay, I'm done with my pointless points. *runs*

Well it's mostly so we can seperate the American cartoons from Anime for *cough* reasons *cough* while I might not exactly call Anime cartoons (but noneless if I do, I wil have to die in a even more horrible death than Tilly will) they kinda are (I didn't call anime cartoons) I think people and me (yep I don't know myself) want to kind of get a seperate identiy for Anime, I mean Anime is very much different from cartoons/comics, and then again not.

Depending on how you look at it, all anime follows a kind of style, of course lot's don't, like the theme it's based on. Like (DO NOT BUY IT!!!!) Gravitation, it's about *whisper* gay men *ahem* (my friend tricked me into buying it, I should've been more cauctious when she said she liked yaoi)....anyway I'm done ranting....

I saw the first volume of Gravitation thanks to a couple of my friends. I really didn't like it. Not because of the yaoi content, but because I absolutely hated their idea of a romantic relationship. I don't even think that relationship would be good for a heterosexual couple! It just annoys me to no end!

I recently saw "Here is Greenwood", which has some male/male implications (it's hard to follow unless you're familiar with the manga, which I am not), but it didn't bother me there. o_0
