Title: Old school board games..
Atrophy Within - February 18, 2005 03:09 AM (GMT)
Hi Ho Cherry-0
Candy Land
Sorry
Manopoly
Mouse Trap
Don't Wake Daddy
I miss those old games. I think I'm gonna go buy some tommarrow when I get paid... :D
Vega - February 18, 2005 04:14 AM (GMT)
ah yes...I remember those days well.
Monopoly is of course one of my favorites.
But what I really love is Risk!
my family still plays all the time. But it gets old when its always the same game over and over.
My brother uses what we call the "box" strategy. He puts all his armys in Austrailia where their is only one entrance and doesn't until eveyone else is weakened.
My mom was never to good at the game.
So it ends up as me vs. my dad. But my dad always manages to scare everyone else into attacking me instead of him.
Capitila - February 18, 2005 07:41 AM (GMT)
I hate board games.
They suck.
I could never win in The Game of Life, and I always ended up owing money to people in Monopoly.
Games of Monopoly always end in "*throws table* F*** this game! It's 4 in the morning grandma, YOU WIN!"

   Caps, you are silly... Grandma... 4am... lol
I didn't like Risk. One of my favs is Stratego.... Yeah baby... yeah
Vega - February 20, 2005 05:44 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, Statego rocks to.
One time I tricked my Dad by placeing my Flag right next to one of the entrances to my side of the map instead of near the rear.
Most people leave the Flag in the back row, probably surrounded by bombs.
I put some power peices in the back to keep him thinking that the Flag was there.
With him distracted I was free to disarm the bombs guarding his flag and win.
Sky Dragon - February 20, 2005 08:36 AM (GMT)
At Stratego, my fave thing to do is to put my flag in a corner, with two bombs.
Then, I spread out all my high-ranking pieces at random, and surround them by low-level pieces. So then my opponent always attacks a powerhouse with his weaker pieces, and meanwhile another of my more powerful pieces goes around attacking the otehr guys until it gets to the enemy flag. funfunfun.
At Monopoly, I always end up owning Park Place, sometimes the BoardWalk, a few times both.
HaTcH - February 20, 2005 01:29 PM (GMT)
I found this one game, sorta like a board game, called rummy-o, and is basically like playing the card game except with tiles and a couple different rules.
Then there was battleship, and talking battleship. I really liked the first one better.Monopoly is cut throat here.. OMG If we get a game going theres like shady deals, no mercy, you get to the point where its beneficial to sit in jail for your three turns....
Then theres the classic... Chess.. I <3 Chess. (even though I suck horribly at it)
Vega - February 22, 2005 06:12 AM (GMT)
Chess is great, I'm decent enough for casual players but if anyone really knows what they are doing I'm probably done for.
As for Monopoly games can get pretty intense at my house to. My stratagy is instead of going for the higher end places I go for the cheap stuff. The Purple and Light blue areas.
At only 50 bucks a house its real easy to get a hotel on each property in no time at all. By that point my opponents probably have just started with houses.
Malakym - February 22, 2005 06:26 AM (GMT)
Chess! the farther of all board games

Ok, it can be the "farther" of board games, but the FATHER of all board games has to be.... *drum roll* Guess Who???     I'm crazy...

Yup, yup and yup. Except I'm good in Chess, although I don't play much.
Connect 4 was good when I was a kid, then I discovered I could throw the discs and hurt people. :D
HooHa_Man - February 25, 2005 12:35 PM (GMT)
Oh yep :D I remeber all of those games...I miss them so.
But I still have one that's RULES above all else!
Axis & Allies
It's the greatest! You've got all of the nations from WWII and every territory and country is part of the game.
-Axis-
-Germany
-Japan
-Allies-
U.S.A.
Great Britian
U.S.S.R. Russia
I'm currently playing my Dad right now. And I'm winning and losing at the same time sorta. As the Axis, Germany has already conqured Great Britian :P and I'm working on beating the U.S.S.R. But in the Pacific, Japan is losing to the U.S. Navy and Air force. (I gotta expand into Russia/China more for funds!)
yuris back - March 2, 2005 05:23 AM (GMT)

*Falls over anime style*
....Sigh...yeah, you've probably never heard of it because it was made LONG before you were ever born.
Look it up yourself. If your a (good) strategist, you'd like it.
Have the cunningness of Rhomel!
The courage of Zukoff!
Experience like Montgomery's!
Strategy of Yamamoto!
And boldness of Patton.
Kirbymaster212 - March 9, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
CLUE! Im always the Mustard guy!
oh and Risk rules... use to bring it to school on our like free "your special" periods and what not and my friends and I would play... oh and Pokemon Monopoly! Wooooo!
Drk-X - March 9, 2005 06:27 AM (GMT)
Candy Land....why??? I dunno....I hate Candy Land..:P :P :P
For me, most likely Chess...
but then, since I'm aZn, that automatically classifies me as a gambling f0b and therefore, I'm more affiliated with card-games. (which is for the most part true...)
I have to make money somehow right?
Unabhängiger Wolf - March 19, 2005 04:20 AM (GMT)
OMG...nobody mentioned Scattergories. I played it at a b-day party many many years ago, and it was really fun. You have to be original in this game.
Battleship is awesome, as well as Clue.
Atrophy Within - March 19, 2005 04:33 AM (GMT)
Oh my god... Look who appeared. :D Hello Freelance. Glad to see you aren't gone for good.
And, Clue was a fun game. I wannt play Connect Four for some odd reason. I need to buy more board games. Like Crocidile Dentist.... lol even though tis not a board game..
Unabhängiger Wolf - March 19, 2005 05:06 AM (GMT)
*gag!*
You lie. There's no way someone here could actually be *choke* missing me. I remember the last time I was here. I was bashing everyone left and right. Ah, only Cap had the courage to stand up to me. Those were the days...
I must let you know right now that I do not hold any sort of loyalty to ZE. I did not come back because I missed this place. I did it to continue my evil ways as Supreme Ferret of my evil bandana-wearing anthro ferret army.
JammerLea - March 19, 2005 08:53 AM (GMT)
Oh noes! Beware the tyranny! It's hard for me to yell at Wolf for what she says. I know her too well. XD;
Board games, wow! I still have a bunch I think. Candyland, Chutes & Ladders, Sorry, Bonkers, The Game of Life (the old one, I don't like the new one), Mouse Trap. And the I think I still have an old Care Bears board game as well as a Sonic the Hedgehog one.
I remember wanting to play Mouse Trap when I was in Kindergarten, but the older kids at the babysitter's house wouldn't let me play. T_T I don't remember when I actually got mine.
Bonkers was a favorite with my friends. I can't even remember how it goes now though.
Some of my current friends and I love playing The Game of Life, because we uh... have our action figures play and make fun of stuff as to who they'd marry and then laugh at how many kids they get! Zell from Final Fantasy VIII needed two cars once for all his kids!!! o__o;
HaTcH - March 19, 2005 01:43 PM (GMT)
*wips out another classic*
TWISTER!!!
Theres a party going down theres people all around..hey! Twister... the Hot SPOT!! Twister the HOT SPOT!
I found that game under the couch not too long ago.. Too bad there was nobody there to play it with.
