Title: AMV production

Hetman - February 24, 2005 07:10 AM (GMT)
I feel like doing an AMV on Elfen Lied and release it after the rumored OVA comes out.

Does anyone know any programs used to make AMVs? Or some tips on AMV production? (using programs and such)

But its going to include a few spoilers or hints though. Trying to reduce that as much as possible though.

Windows Movie Maker, if you're using Windows XP.

If it's anything like my copy, save often. It crashed SO MANY TIMES on me...and it's got an amusing typo!

If you do have it, I found it easier to cut out the junk I didn't want in pieces that went together, then save that as clips and import them to work with. But you lose a bit of quality that way...

There was a bug in WMM that Microsoft sorted with an upgrade for WMM. The bug basically caused it to crash I think, when certain things occured with certain hardware e.t.c.

Hrm...I always install the Windows Update junk, but would that have been in that? If not, I should update it...

It is seperate as far as I know. The windows updates are usually just for windows. Why IE patches are included in windows updates is because IE is built into Windows.

Actually Movie Maker performs flawlessly... when Divx or other Avi codecs are not used/installed.

Also some DVD programs add .ax files to windows which cause problems.

When making my Videos I actually use 3~5 pieces of software. First I use Movie Maker 1 to create clips of the episodes (it does far better job than 2), I save the collections file then in (2) Movie Maker 2, I do the cutting and editing. Finally, I produce a dv avi source file. In MGI video wave (3) (which is where I make titles and fade effects) I take the DV avi file, dub in the audio file (deleting the old one) and produce an uncompressed AVI. From that I use (4) Windows Media Encoder to create WMV files, and I use a freeware VCD encoder to make MPG's of the videos. http://home.cogeco.ca/~avi2vcd/ Its an excellent program.

Aha...so DivX gives it fits? Next time I'll use all WMV clips to poke apart, I guess...

I love you.

BTW, the OVA is due out with the final Japanese DVD release, which is in April. I'm not sure if it will be fansubbed though. You sure you wanna' wait that long to release it?

@ Tilly, you could just decompress all your divx video, if you have the hard drive space. (note, ~5 minutes = 2 gigs)

I have around 5 gigs free. I could free up 8 or so deleting some stuff I also have on CD, but that's it...

Yeah, but it will depend. If they have any available good scenes, give me another 1-2 weeks after I received the OVA a.s.a.p

Alright, the AMV will be probably be about 3:37 long, thanks to the song I'm using. I'm just picking the scenes that I might think its approriate....
