Title: Favorite movies

Silly Fox - March 2, 2005 12:58 AM (GMT)
What movies do you love to watch?

My favorites (not in order):
50 First Dates
Shaun of the Dead
Spiderman 1 & 2
Ice Age
The CannonBall Run
Old Yeller
The Music Man

I'm certain there's more I like...just can't think of them right now.

Vega - March 2, 2005 01:16 AM (GMT)
I can't really put my favorite movies into any real order...but one definatly rises above the rest to the #1 spot

Lord of the Rings - In my opinion one of the greatest films ever made. Aside from a few understandable changes (and one I just didn't like..*Cough*Arwen*Cough*) the movie also stays true to its literary heritage. The actors all do a superb job, the scenery is breath taking, the music is incredible, and don't even get me started on the action and storytelling. If you truely want to experience this movie make sure to watch the Return of the King Extended Edition, but be prepared for 4 hours of bliss.

Other movies I enjoy greatly:

Pirates of the Caribean - not many movies have been able to truely do Pirate stories justice..but this film is one of them. "The code is more what you call guidelines than actual rules"

Star Wars - the origional trilogy was a true masterpiece, hopefully ep. III will redeem the new trilogy

Assorted early Disney Films - Aladdin, Lion King, ect.

I'll add more when I think of them

Steve - March 2, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
I like Godzilla movies. Of the Godzilla movies I've seen thus far, these are my personal favourites:

Godzilla 2000
Godzilla vs Megaguirus
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (The Original 70's version)
GMK: Giant Monsters All Out Attack
Godzilla vs. Megalon (LookitmeI'mafandomrebelIlovethesecondworstGodzillamovieevermade!)
Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster

...And it's not a *true* Godzilla movie, but I enjoyed the 1998 American "Godzilla". (AKA: GINO: "Godzilla In Name Only.")

...The Land Before Time is another long time favourite, as are Jurassic Park and the Lost World... I'm also fond of the "Alien" series, ('cept for Ressurection 'cause it sucks balls), and I've recently become obsessed with "Alien vs. Predator."

I also enjoy South Park: The Movie... I used to enjoy "The Matrix", but got bored of it... aaaaaaandIthinkthat'sallfornow. I can't think of more at the moment.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD...DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF THE MOVIES IN THE QUOTED POST

So, so true...

-The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: #1 fantasy films ever, not up for debate. Even tho that's my opinion.
You didn't like Arwen? Meh, I'm indifferent. What I didn't like is what they did to Faramir. TOTALLY messed up his character...For some reason, Theoden makes me think "King Arthur", but Anduril just screams "EXCALIBUR" at you...meh.

-The Original Star Wars Trilogy: Haven't seen all three of them, sadly. I've seen "A New Hope", and I caught snatches of "Return of the Jedi" (Which was originally supposed to be "Revenge of the Jedi".Hence Episode III: Revenge of the Sith)

Speaking of which Ep3 IS supposed to be better than the prev. two sequels...It'll have to be pretty darn good to beat EpI tho, with its Ben Hur-inspired Race.
But yeah. Anakin kicks Obi-Wan's butt at one point. What I don't like is that Obi-Wan's hair is shorter than in EpII. Should be longer, IMO...and Anakin's got a "Luke-Skywalker" hairdo. Sounds like it's gonna rock tho. Apparently, Old, Pale and Ugly (aka Palpatine) gets to use a lightsaber this time 'round...red, of course.

(Palpatine)-"Lord Vader..."
(Vader)-"Yes, Master."
(Palpatine)-"RISE!"

AND THERE'S GONNA BE AN ARMY OF WOOKIES!!!!! HURRAY FOR WOOKIES!!! (Ewoks are like Chibi-Wookies anyway. Wookies are kewlzies)

-Pirates of the Carribean: Now that one was great. I had low expectations for prettyboy Bloom, but he did better than I expected. I despised Norrington, Johnny Depp was awesome, Geoffrey Rush was appropriately scary...
You almost pity the guy at the end tho...

-"I feel...cold."

-I liked Aladdin. Hated the second one, sorta liked the third.
-I kinda liked The Lion King...hated the sequel...My English teacher scarred my brain. She said "Lion King is like Hamlet with a happy ending." Haven't read Hamlet, but don't like Shakespeare. Sorry.

The First Matrix was good.
"Reloaded" was okay. But there are 5 things that killed it.
1. That ridiculous-looking overcoat-thing Neo's wearing...WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BLACK LEATHER TRENCHCOAT?
2. Excessive random use of slow-motion at unexpected moments
3. The entire "Superman flying to save Lois Lane from certain death" thing (sub in "Neo" and "Trinity" here) and the whole reach-into-her-stomach-and-miraculously-pull-out-the-bullet-and-save-her-life thing was positively stupid.
4. Where the **** is Tank? He was COOL!!!
5. The entire "rave/sex" scene was ridiculous.

Haven't seen "Revolutions", don't want to.

MORE SPOILERS

I can accept the fact that PJ included more of Arwen to draw in more female audience members and to flesh out the romantic sub-plot between Aragorn and her. I probably would of done something similar if I was making the movie.

The thing I didn't like though was the fact that this Elven princess is on a scouting mission with nine of the most dangerous beings in Middle Earth are riding around. Sorry, but I just can't see that happening.

I couldn't help but pity Capt. Barbossa either. I was hoping he would at least get a bite of his apple, be able to enjoy life for one last time.

As for Star Wars ep. III.....I've read the script. It didn't include dialog but I know whats going to happen. And I think I can safely say it will be far superior to both episodes I and II.

STAR WARS SPOILER ALERT

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Anakin goes nuts and kills a bunch of kids. It will be like his slaughter of the sand people, you don't see it but you know it happens. Difference is we aren't talking the often barbaric sand people....these are young jedi children, the same ones we saw in ep.II

Sky Dragon - March 3, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
Oookay...Considering Vader is solely responsible for the mass murder of what was essentially the entire Jedi Order, with the exception maybe three, plus his kids, that's believeable (sp?)...

If you've read the script, two questions:

-Where did you get it?
-Does Padme die? Fanboys all over the net are saying they have to kill Padme in Ep3, but will they?

Answer by PM, plz.

The Matrix (Reloaded wasn't that great, and Revolutions just SUCKED)

I am SOOO Glade to see someone else disliked the others. I LOVED the Matrix, but the second and third both got worse as they went on. Second was ok, I like those twins things, and it had some pretty cool parts, but the third enetertained me only by lasting long enough for me to take a good nap.

Nice to see I'm not the only one here who thinks they weren't that great... I see too many people obsessing over those movies...

FoxofNight - March 7, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
Eh...I never really did care for the Matrix series. I liked the spiffy effects the first time, but after twelve-bajillion times, it sorta got boring. I liked the Ghosts, though, they have spiffitay hair. :3 I want hair like that so bad. I prefer "The Matrix Has You" series over the movies any old day.
Anyhoo, onto the list.

In no particular order:
Donnie Darko
My Neighbor Totoro
Any Monty Python movie
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas
Ferngully (only the first one, though)
Hook
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Steven King's IT

Argh, there's more, I know it, I just can't remember all of them.

Panzer522 - March 7, 2005 03:23 AM (GMT)
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (loved it, absolutely loved it)
Jurassic Park I, II (III was too short for my taste, at least it had a Spinosaurus)
LoTR trilogy (this seems to be a popular answer)
Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back
Shaun of the Dead ("Dude, she is sooo drunk" "*Zombie growl*")

All I think can of for now...

And the Starwars movies and such... and Mimic... yeah...

duke - March 9, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)

*Idly adds "Godzilla vs Megaguirus" to his list*

Schatten - March 17, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
At the Moment I only have two.

Sixth Sense, I watched this when I was visiting relatives one winter. I fell in love with that Movie. Since things really didn't start to come together till the end. Plus I have a thing for Thriller/Horror movies.

The Kid- Okay it's a Pantomine film that's before my time. It's just so amusing though with Chaplin's floppy shoed duck walk, and scenes where their just all running around from the cop. Though the Angels were the best part in my opinion.

Freezeman.exe - March 24, 2005 03:03 AM (GMT)
