Title: What is your biggest pet peeve ?

DefaultPeanut - March 16, 2005 08:28 AM (GMT)
Just say what your biggest pet peeve is.

Mine would be ppl who just sit or stand 'round with their mouthes hanging open. That and slow drivers.

Atrophy Within - March 16, 2005 09:07 AM (GMT)
People who feel the need to tell me how bad smoking is when I already know, and could care less what it does to me.

People who chew with their mouth open.

zeroreborn - March 17, 2005 12:14 PM (GMT)
^^^^^^what she said people need to mind there own damned buisness, let us kill ourselfes in peace....

Mirai-LD - March 17, 2005 07:35 PM (GMT)
Prejudice based assumptions, alcohol, druggies and smokers on the back fence at our school, and drink driving, those're what I hate the most. But recently I've added two new ones to my list. People who uses text language when talking to me and those who has no net ettiquette in general.

Just because we can't see you doesn't mean you can not be polite...=_=

Yes, and incase you haven't realised, I never only have one biggest something...XD;

JammerLea - March 17, 2005 07:35 PM (GMT)
PEOPLE WHO DON'T USE THEIR TURN SIGNALS!! ALSIDFsal;kdufh

People who get right up on my mini-van's tail while driving, ESPECIALLY the stupid people in little cars! If a deer runs out in front of me WHAT DO THEY THINK WILL HAPPEN?!? I have more mass! Their weenie little cars will get pulvarized!

Yeah, I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to driving.

awww *hugz* you should have seen the rant I made a long time ago on homophobes and how most of them are hypocrites in the way they talk. Oh wellz, I think I have it somewhere on another forum. ^_^

My Pet Peeve...when I clearly state in my sig not to IM, PM, or shout in my blog about avatar/sig requests especially during this time where I've been sick a lot...yet people do it anyways and even have the nerve to give me orders...ack...

Atrophy Within - March 18, 2005 07:28 PM (GMT)
Oh my GOD!!! I just realised you had hella in your sig... I remember when I first started really posting on ZE and you used that word so much.. I just wanted to shake the hell out of you. lol

Too bad Blade is gone, you could always send them to harasse him... hehe

After one I have, in tone with Jammer's... People who rid you on the road when it is obvious you can't go any faster than you are. Like when I am driving a semi and I'm going 70mph... *friends owns a shippig company he lets me work for on occasion*

How the hell am I supposed to go faster when I'm a 20 ton truck and trailer? My GOD!!!

JammerLea - March 18, 2005 09:21 PM (GMT)
OMG I feel sorry for the people who drive big rigs. So many people getting right behind them... I try to keep a good distance between semis and myself. What is the recommended distance? Making sure that one can see one of the side mirrors...

And then there are the people who suddenly merge right in front of you and you're like, "AHHH!!" I usually try to make sure that I can see both headlights of a vehicle before merging in front of 'em.

Once someone tried merging into my lane before they were past me! I was the only vehicle around too! How could they not see me?!? Good thing I don't panic, I could've gotten pushed off the road. @_@

Atrophy Within - March 18, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
Accually, the rigs have air brakes, they stop, not on a dime, but they stop damn good for being over 20 tons. And, a car behind them, would only have 15ft to stop at 70mph or so, AFTER they even notice the truck stopping.. Sooooo... In conclusion... Keep at least 30 or MORE feet back. Try not to stay behind them at all.

If you are in a car and you hit the back end of the truck, the rear of the trailer is high enough to rip off the cylinder heads of the engine and casue a major explosion. Thats what usually happens when someone rear ends a semi.

So yeah... hehe Stay away from semis at all costs... Very rarely do the drivers even get hurt in accidents that kill people I cars.

JammerLea - March 18, 2005 09:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I only stay behind 'em if I'm waiting for cars to pass me, or if my exit is close by.

Man, one summer I was working for my best friend's mom, and I accidently slept in. When I got to this one road, I just saw police cars dispersing. Apparently some idiot in an SUV tried passing on the road and ran head-on into a semi. SUV driver died, I can't remember if the semi driver was injured, but I know he survived.

I think I saw that SUV being transported later that day too. It looked like an accordian or something. Gah. Impatience kills, people! Truthfully I wish there was NO passing on that road, it's so dangerous. I had to slow down on it once because I was afraid someone passing was gonna run head-on into me. SICK >_<

Man, do I have any non-driving pet peeves? Haha! I really dislike hearing the word "gay" as an insult.

Atrophy Within - March 18, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
lol... I hear ya.

I have another one i could list...

Makeup commercials. They make it seem like you will be SOOO hot if you wear it. I wear it sometime, my profile pic shows me with some lip stick, but people who CAKE on powder and stuff. Its just ugly. And it makes my skin break out when I DO wear it.

Meh, I prefer not wearing it at all. Not wearing any in my AV and I think I look just fine... I can't imagine how attractive purple eyelids looks... LOL

Those commercials are annoying. "Put powder on your face and break out! You'll look so damn sexy! NARF!!!" o.0

zeroreborn - March 18, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
I've got lots of pet peeves*coughmostaredrkxcough*and the rest i cant realy remmeber....*goes back to mah cigar*ohhh wait I know PC democrats!!

Drk-X - March 18, 2005 11:09 PM (GMT)
^ ...

Ack, I don't have any pet peeves when it comes to driving a car myself........only cause I don't drive :P :P :P

*either runs or rides a bike*

HaTcH - March 20, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
I hate it when people who are smoking and you tell them how many awful chemicals are in the cigarettes, either give you the cold shoulder or don't care.

My second pet peeve is when people tell me things I already know...

I can see an argument spawining here so the reason I can say this without being hypocritical is that I don't think people who know something know absolutely everything I know about it.. And perhaps if they did would take my advice!

Probably right along with that is beer commercials... Like the ones that tell you how much better life is with it... I mean.. I get on an empty beach, sunny warm day, with the hottest girl, holding hands... I can throw my 200 dollar phone into the ocean, my 150 dollar pager aside... but life is not the best WITHOUT THAT ICE COLD CORONA....

F'in drugs... I could swear up a storm about how cigarettes alcohol and pot destroyed so many lives I know...

Atrophy Within - March 20, 2005 03:58 PM (GMT)
LOL.... The Snickers commerical about becoming famous from a random series of events caused by eating Snickers is even more far fetched... lol

I just wanna say something about your comment on how smokers ignore you when you say how bad smoking is for them or what cigarettes contain.

I smoke. I don't like it when people come up to me and start taking to me. I don't know them, therefor I don't want to hear them talk to me, or have to take the time to listen to them. MOST smokers, already know the dangers of smoking, or what is in the cigs they smoke. So, having some stranger tell me what I already know, is annoying, and stupid. I know what it ahs in it, and I know what it does o my health, but by me obviously continuing to smoke anyways, shows my lack of concern. It is annoying for peopel to feel the need to comment, and it shows how stupid they are to think I don't know what cigs do to me or contain. Its real stupid, along the lines of ignorance and nievism (sp?).

So, in a way, you contradicted yourself in saying you hate smokers who ignore what you say, yet you hate people telling you what you already know. And thats EXACTLY what telling a smoker what is in cigs is... Telling them what they already know.

And, don't say "Well why do you smoke in the first place if you already know why its bad" because, frankly thats no ones business but the person who smokes.

And I'm not arguing.. hehe... Just pointing out something I felt like pointing out. Not encissarily for YOU to note, or even think twise on, but for anyone else who reads this and agrees with you or feels the same.

On a humorous note... Telling a smoker whats in a cig, or how bad it is is like goign up to a 400lbs man and saying "You know, that will just make you fatter, do you ahve any idea how many calories are in that cluster of 15 burgers you have there?"

 lol.... Was looking for a comparison, and that popped in my head. hehehe...

And again, I'm just noting what I said ebcause some people who read this may not understant smokers... And I just don't like being labelled in the way I have been for smoking. Eating fatty foods raises your cholestoral and increases your risk for ehart attack by 50%. Thus, I'm do no more ahrm than eating alot of bad food and getting fat. And, 60% of Americans are overweight. So, smoking isn't the biggest concern these days. Even though i agree, it is bad for your health, and has no positive side effects. I just really like to smoke. Something I enjoy for some unknown reason. lol.

Suicide's not so much a rant, yet still a rant is now officially over.... You may come out from hiding in your closets and basements. Thank you for your time and FEAR!!!! :D

Steve - March 20, 2005 06:35 PM (GMT)
*Reads Lycan's rant thingy*

Tara agrees with that smoking rant thing whole-heartedly. Odd how characters take on little lives of their own like that... 'tis like having someone living in your head... :P

My pet peeves? Writers block is at the top of my list. I also hate flies... and I hate how LONG it takes Amazon.ca to ship stuff... I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MY NC/0 DVDS FOR CHRISTMAS, DAMMIT! NOT EASTER! THE HELL!!?!

HaTcH - March 20, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
Well SF, theres one other thing about the whole situation... I do not smoke. And I do not enjoy being exposed to it. Thus its only natural to p off smokers when they are so ignorant to other people. For example, the scum in the back of the school bus who just can't wait to have that smoke... For one they are under age, for 2, they are breaking the law smoking in public transportation, and 3 they should not have tobacco products on school grounds in the first place.

Do you know that the age of experimentation went from 16-21 years of age to 10-13 years old. How does it make you feel, even being a smoker, seeing elementary and junior high school kids smokin up? What is so attractive about cancer and early death? Go down to the hospital and check out the cancer patients... Is your life that bad to just throw away? Gees.. Get. Help.

As for people who smoke legally, I respect them, its their choice and its not against the law, so long as they aren't bothering me or them old ladies on the corner... But when they like to try and be tough or cool by smoking it just sickens me. I wish PA would adopt the new york law of no smoking in restaraunts.

I was also contradictory on purpose, just to stirr up some conversation.

Atrophy Within - March 20, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
*glomps HaTch* I love that... Thats a great point, about the kids. Pisses me off when people smoke for vanity or popularity points. Screw them. I don't like that, its just stupid and a waste of many years of your life. Smoking just to look cool. Who cares if you are jusing going to die at age 35 with lung cancer.

I have accepted my death as coming sooner from smoking. I have no concerns about it, and I understand what my choice will elad to. I also VERY much respect the fact you have nothing against those who DO smoke LEGALLY!

And yes smoking in dinners and the like, should not be allwoed, or at least, since I usually get thrown outside to smoke in teh cold, make it so the smoke on teh smokers side accually DOESN'T go tot eh non smoking section. DAMN MAN! Why even bother sperating it when it just floats tot eh non smoking section. that pisses me fof because non smokers then get pissed at me. And you know what, i don't like being yelled at.

I wish peopel would get a gip on reallity and solve this with a LOGICAL and accually useful solution. And frankly, peopel are so stupid these days, I would ratehr go outside to smoke, than watch teh idiots find ways to solve it. lol

And lol to you wanting to stur conversation... hehe

zeroreborn - March 20, 2005 09:03 PM (GMT)
oh...well i dont smoke cigs so dat dosnt count for me :)

Schatten - March 20, 2005 09:08 PM (GMT)
When they Put the Music they play at SkatLand East on a Program and let it run through. Wouldn't bother me so much if they didn't fill it with the Hit-List crap that I've heard 70 times already.

People who flame fanfiction for the content. Helloo?! It's called Fan Fiction for a Reason. In other words it dosen't have to be true to the orginal Book/Movie/Show ect.

You smoke something that is completely illegal and another pet peez of mine... My friends waste a good amount of their income for a 10 minute joy ride that gets the arrested down the road, or in jail. I would rather just get drunk legally. buzz lasts longer, and I don't get adicted to it. Plus is a hell of alot cheaper...

zeroreborn - March 20, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
It's not my fault the US needs to adopted the ways of Holland!
edit: ****...if there buzz only lasts 10 min they realy need to stop with the week stuff...I can get an gram for $5 that lasts atleast 2 hours...

Atrophy Within - March 20, 2005 09:22 PM (GMT)
*smacks you* Sush before you get yelled at.... thats alittle too much drug content in a sentence to be allowed... LOL...

And... the radio is a good pet peez... Considering, like Schatten said about music, they play the same damn song ever damn 15 minutes... Tis annoying. I ahve over 3,000 songs on my computer that I play on random... So, you NEVER hear the same song more often that once every 3 days... LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!

JammerLea - March 21, 2005 12:24 AM (GMT)
Yes, no need to go into detailed illegal drug discussions. I really don't want to know how much money people waste on that stuff.

Pot is another pet peeve of mine solely because when I lived in dorms the guys below my room would smoke it, and the smell would come up into our apartment. I hate that smell, it's so unattractive. But the worst part of it was that when we went down to complain about it to them, they were like, "We're not smoking anything."

And these were the RA's. >_<

As far as cigarettes are concerned, I really don't care for the smell, but as long as people are following the regulations as to where they can smoke them, I don't care. Though I'm sure I've gotten more than enough second hand smoke from when I was younger.

I have an original character who has a major pet peeve with alcohol, but he has his reasons. XD

zeroreborn - March 21, 2005 12:40 AM (GMT)
lol what are you talking about jammer weed has a great smell too it!!

JammerLea - March 21, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
...I'd rather smell a skunk for an entire day than smell weed for any part of a day.

HaTcH - March 21, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
I whole heartedly agree Jammer! And legalizing pot would be like... omg such a horrible idea.. Could you imagine people like zeroreborn walking down you street perpetually stoned?

o.o; scary

zeroreborn - March 21, 2005 01:46 AM (GMT)
hey!!....less people would smoke weed if you legalize it its like underage drinking...when your underage, drinking is like a sport/challange its not as fun when you can get it whenever you want...

HaTcH - March 21, 2005 02:00 AM (GMT)
No way... If it was legal, there would be lots more people who were originally afraid of being unlawful. I ask you the question, completely optional to answer, but if it was legalised, would you honestly be one of the first people lining up at the 7/11 to get a pack of joints?

zeroreborn - March 21, 2005 02:01 AM (GMT)
lol...its a proven fact tho!!!

HaTcH - March 21, 2005 02:07 AM (GMT)
That has to be the lightest defense on the pro-weed side.

And the medicinal approach? That has been prooven to be BS, that is it does nothing for cancer, is perhaps more harmful than cigaretts does jack squat for glocoma... Got any good reasons why weed should be legal?

(and "because it gets me high dude" is not a proper defense)

zeroreborn - March 21, 2005 02:35 AM (GMT)
how about it being a way out for the weak, instead of cutting(maybe!), since they dont seem to beable to stand the pain they feal, weither phsycial or emotional.
edit:wtf my avatar is gone...

JammerLea - March 21, 2005 05:05 AM (GMT)
No, see, that's where someone really needs to get psychological help. And that's a whole nother pet peeve/rant of mine AS someone who suffers from depression.

Wallowing in misery or what not will NOT do any good in the long run. People can cut themselves and use drugs as an escape, but none of that will actually solve any problems. Turning your life around from that emotional/physical pain is something that a person has to work for themselves, it's not just going to happen. Cutting, drugs, getting drunk as a means of escape... though probably the easiest, those are some of the worst ways to deal with problems.

Mirai-LD - March 21, 2005 05:22 AM (GMT)
I agree 100% with Jammer.... And if weed becomes legal in New Zealand, I'd be the first to move out, no questions asked.

Drugs is a ridiculous approach to get rid of pain, same goes with alcohol. Poisoning your body will not make the pain disappear...>.>

Tilly - March 21, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
What about people in chronic pain from something terminal? If it helps them feel better and they aren't smoking it around other people, why's it matter?

As for making it completely legal, I'm divided. It would depend on how it was regulated. But either way, I want to know why it's all illegal and cigarettes aren't.

Well, aside from the tobacco companies having powerful lobbies...

That's a pet peeve of mine, actually, mostly when it's used to excuse people being horribly OOC for no good reason. Then they're not the characters any more, they're just original characters that have like...snatched their bodies.

Body-snatching isn't nice.

Schatten - March 21, 2005 10:41 PM (GMT)
You've got a point. But I was more directing to when their fics with AU's and Shouju-Ai and Shounen-Ai content.

zeroreborn - March 21, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
well since everyone seems to be so anti-weed I'ma shut up since all of you seems to be lacking in an open mind!

Drk-X - March 21, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
I agree with you on the "you shutting up" part but not on the "us not having an open mind" part...give me 3 examples of how you can support this and maybe I'll change my mind...

Have fun finding 3 examples that don't exist...

Medicinal use may be one thing, but in more of, well... "a way out for the weak," I don't see people using it just to escape reality and forget the world to be a good thing. At least that's the idea that set me off. I know more than enough people who have depression, some of whom have not dealt with it well, and that scares me. Their judgement is already warped as it is, and adding drugs that can be mind-altering worries me.

There's a big difference between physical and emotional pain.

zeroreborn - March 21, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
ok jammer how do you think I use weed?
