| Make a shoutbox maybe? |
YEEEESSSSS!!!!! That would be fun... I vote for shout box... wee... *dances in hope they will start one*
Drk-X - May 9, 2005 05:31 AM (GMT)
Ack, we used to have one... but now, I think the SPAM forum is supposed to be our "shoutbox"....oh well.
Hetman - May 9, 2005 05:45 AM (GMT)
Only a selected amount of people go there anyway so there is no point. :\
Capitila - May 9, 2005 10:49 AM (GMT)
I like simple shout boxes, but it depends on what we use. Most of the free ones look like crap.
Mods, Admins?
Wolven Zero - May 9, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
There are a good few good free shout boxes. But sadly, they all require a proper copy of Invision Power Board as they run as a part of the IPB script. IF is not IPB, and cannot be tampered in the files, therefore we are restricted to outside hosted ones.

Meh, it doesn't have to look perfect... I just think it would be neat to have one. Make people alittle more active maybe? meh, I dunno, I just like the idea of a shout box... SO long as every memebr can sue it, and not use certain ones...
ZeRoRaVeN - May 9, 2005 09:36 PM (GMT)
Why not simple like link to a seperate page with one, too bad everyone might use each other's alias...
Drk-X - May 9, 2005 09:40 PM (GMT)
Err, for a free shoutbox... how bout using SayBox??? I use it in my blog and I'm perfectly happy with it.
http://saybox.co.uk/index.php?ref=DrkxYou can create accounts for it too. That takes care of the alias thing though guests won't be able to post.

A shout box would be easy to code, all we'd need to do is have a webserver that has php compatability. Anyone got any bites? I could probably write the code in a night or 2.

Yay, we are gonna have a shout box then?
*dances*
On a competely off topic note... Hatch, you have had that "&" avatar since I can remember, and I have yet to understand WHY you have it.... What is it ment for? Does it mean something? Or are you just obsessed with that symbol? o.0
:P
Hetman - May 10, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
& beats 'and'. Much cooler than 3 letters that form a word where you could have a & sign. Its amaziiing!!!11oneshiftq! Period.

...it makes him fly....why else would he have it???
And there's still the question of whether a webserver that has php compatibility and supports MySQL is available to us or not...
Wolven Zero - May 10, 2005 07:56 PM (GMT)
*coughs* Depending how secure the script is, I may be of some use for the hosting.
HaTcH - May 10, 2005 10:58 PM (GMT)
We dont need mysql at all. Anyway I have no idea how to use it, I would just make it with a text file.
As for the Ampersand thing, well would you rather I be the octothorpe '#' mod?
Hetman - May 12, 2005 01:53 PM (GMT)
When will this idea be implemented?
Drk-X - May 18, 2005 03:27 AM (GMT)
Anytime from now to a billion years :P
....you know it's true. :P
Capitila - May 18, 2005 05:49 AM (GMT)
I made a thread in Admin and Mod HQ, so we'll get a definite yes or no.. Hopefully.
Atrophy Within - June 6, 2005 07:08 AM (GMT)
Well, its been long enough to openly ask... Did it get a yes or no vote? Its been almost a month, or some wheres along that. Not that I think anyone would have a good reason to vote against it, but yeah... My own opinion I suppose.
Can someone clue us in? hehee
Capitila - June 6, 2005 10:03 AM (GMT)
Hatch said he'd be up for coding one for us after he finishes some school stuff, don't know his current situation on that though.
We also need a host with php, I was thinking Tilly or Steel or someone. Atgig.com will soon be having php and MySQL up (maybe..) so we could use their free 1gb of web space to host it. It's a few days late though, not sure what's happening with it.
