Title: Star Wars III
Description: embrace your inner geek
duke - May 15, 2005 02:05 PM (GMT)
Is anyone else excited for Star Wars III? I'm happy that wookies are finally back.
ZeRoRaVeN - May 15, 2005 02:12 PM (GMT)
I want to see it, its promising I like the clone soliders they look kinda cool...yay star wars!
König Warrior - May 15, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)
I have been waiting for this most out of the first 3 (as in the ones before the original trilogy).
I actually read the book of Episode III.. it was great, makes me want to see the movie more.
master666 - May 15, 2005 05:19 PM (GMT)
im going to go see it on saturday with some friends from school
SeraPhoenix - May 15, 2005 06:14 PM (GMT)
I can't wait to see it! It supposedly had really good reviews too. Hopefully I'll be able to see it during the weekend, I think it's already been sold out at most of the theaters near me for Thursday.
ZeRoRaVeN - May 15, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
Well we all know what's going to happen though, anaklin's going to go baddie and the deathie star...and so forth...but I'm going to watch it to see the graphics and see what turns him over (actualy I know, I read time magazine...)
Zelos - May 15, 2005 09:11 PM (GMT)
Supposedly?I want to see it bad as well for two reasons. It just plain looks awesome, and I can finally let myself buy the DS version of the game once I see it (Everyone says the DS version is the best)
Unabhängiger Wolf - May 16, 2005 02:34 AM (GMT)
JUST WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?!?!
Episode 1 was all right. Episode 2 sucked major ***. I have very low expectations for the third and finally last movie.
Zelos - May 16, 2005 02:40 AM (GMT)
Have you seen any trailers for it, heard any interviews about it, or read any reviews for it?
I'm guessing, you haven't...
Just go to the link I gave, and you'll see what the critics are thinking.
Unabhängiger Wolf - May 16, 2005 02:48 AM (GMT)
Ppft. Just because -some- people liked it doesn't mean -I- will. Reviews mean nothing. I said I have very low expectations for the movie. I never said I wouldn't watch it, ever. I just won't go see it at the theatres.
Phelan - May 16, 2005 03:44 AM (GMT)
I want to see it for one reason and one reason alone: The naval battles.
Lightsaber fights? Bah
Yoda? Bah
Wookies? Bah
I want to see two (or more) monolithic masses of metal that just happen to be armed to the teeth and have enough armor to make US army weep with the envy pound the heck out of one another.
Capitila - May 16, 2005 05:42 AM (GMT)
I didn't like Episode 2 the first time I saw it, but it was on TV last night. Was good. Natalie Portman. *drool*
Cant wait for Revenge of the Sith to come out, but it's going to be a couple of days after it comes out before I can see it. Cinemas are booked out most places for the first 3 days. Bah.
1337 trailer was funny, shame it was taken down. I've still got it here somewhere, but nowhere to host it. T_T

na·val ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nvl)
adj.
1. Of or relating to ships or shipping. See Synonyms at nautical.
2. Of or relating to a navy.
3. Having a navy: a great naval power.

Naval means water basicaly...those purty ships are star destroyers in space...not water...just a minor detail.....
Phelan - May 16, 2005 07:27 PM (GMT)
Fine, astro-naval battles. Happy now?
And it's plain from context what I meant.
Sky Dragon - May 16, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
I am SO looking forward to seeing that...for so many reasons:
1. The new Jedi Starfighters look awesome - halfway between Delta-7s (Ep2) and TIEs...
2. The Bigass Battle at the beginning, with Grievous's starship
3. The duel between the aforementioned General Grievous and Kenobi
4. Dooku goes bye-bye
5. Kenobi vs Skywalker
6. THE WOOKIES!! THERE'S AN ARMY OF THEM!! Wookies were underrepresented in Ep1 and Ep2
7. Implied gratuitous slaughter of
small children and Jedi Knights
...
Yes, I'm weird. But isn't anybody looking at this thread weird?

Yeppie...I'm happy now..
What's with the omgwookiesareplayingamajorroleinstarwarsIIImustseeitbecauseofthat attitude? Is it really? [didn't see trailer] But besides that Star Wars III will hopefully live up to the expectations.
Capitila - May 20, 2005 05:24 AM (GMT)
Well, I saw it last night in a late viewing, got there early and sat in line with some friends and the rest of of the Star Wars nerds. Putting my obsessions of Star Wars and Natalie Portman aside, I feel a little let down in some ways, but overall I enjoyed it. The script was a little bleh, visually it was excellent, and it all fit together nicely. Best of all - Ja-ja didn't speak.
I loved it, excellent. Not enough for Lucas to reclaim himself from Episode 1, mind you.
Vappa - May 20, 2005 08:54 AM (GMT)
I saw it last night. Personally? I love it and want to have its babies <333 It more than made up for the rubbish that was Phantom Menace, and the so-so that was Attack of the Clones. It's still not in the same league as the original trilogy, but it's much better than I and II.
Of course, Star Wars has never been about the acting or the dialogue. If it was, no one would like it. So yeah, there was some really bad (and hilarious!) dialogue in spots, but oh well. Who sees Star Wars for the dialogue? We're all here for the space battles and lightsaber duels.
Anakin vs Obi-Wan interspersed with Yoda vs Palpatine was the utter highlight of the film. SO MUCH LOVE. And all the small ways it tied into A New Hope at the end. There were some bits that bored me, but there always are.
To sum, 8.5/10. And I will see it again, and then once more. Hee~
Blade - May 21, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
Eh, I posted this Friday May 20th:
Well, it's been a while, but school's finally out for me, and I saw Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith just today (Friday May 20).
Okay so I think there might a couple of things here and there that might be very mild teasers, not sure myself, but I don't think there's much that's not in the trailers.... Well, I did put some things in gray that I might might be somewhat teaser-y.
All I have to say on that movie is....
GO SEE IT! NOW! DO IT! IT IS FREAKIN...AMAZING!
I mean it. There are several lightsaber fights in it, and they are fast as heck. I mean they move very quick. Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan fight...Yoda & Sidius fight, and you even get to see Mace Windu in some kick-butt action. There are many twists in this move, and it has a well-done complex plot.... But dang...it is just full of action!
Seriously, people, this movie has more than lived up to it's expectations for me. I had very high expectations of this movie and I wasn't the slightest bit disapoitned. I also hear that this movie got an A- Critic Rating, which is a very rare and great rating. If you like action movies, GO SEE THIS!
There is a ton of character development in this, and this movie really does tie in the entire saga.
Thing is....I'm probably gonna see this movie about 5 more times. I am not a huge Star Wars fan, but this movie was just ufll of action. That's what makes it so appealing. Also, as all of you know, Anakin turns into Vader in this movie. There is quite a bit of foreshadowing to Anakin's path to the Dark Side in this. Try to catch em ;)
I was really happy I got to see this movie so soon. I went to the theaters expecting to see the movie about half an hour to an hour after I arrived there due to the popularity of this, which would cause most all of the shows to be full, but I was lucky to get there just 10 minutes before a showtime and I got the ticket.... At any rate, yeah.....
Oh and if you're a sci-fi/action movie fan, go see this!
Capitila - May 22, 2005 04:45 AM (GMT)
Saw it again last night with another group of friends, probably shouldn't of. It was still good, and I got to see the Falcon, but I spotted some inaccuracies and didn't enjoy it as much.
Tilly - May 22, 2005 02:18 PM (GMT)
Is it worth seeing with someone who hasn't seem any of the newer ones when you yourself have only seen the first once ages ago (and not understood why everyone hated Jar-Jar Binks)?
I want to see a Star Wars movie in a theater, dangit. But not if I'm going to be completely confused.
Steve - May 22, 2005 04:37 PM (GMT)
Well... it's worth seeing, for the eye candy alone...
...Really, all you need to know for episode III is that Anakin's mother died, and he and Padme are in lurve... and that's 'bout it, I think.
Blade - May 22, 2005 04:50 PM (GMT)
Steve, you're so mistaken. There's a lot more character development than just that....
I'm gonna see it again some time later when the crowds die down. I got lucky getting into a showtime just 5 mins after I arrived at the thaters and getting a top seat, but that might not happen again....

The Millennium Falcon? I just saw it today and never saw the Falcon. Did I just miss it or what? What scene was it in?
Fg-Dark_Monk - May 23, 2005 01:57 AM (GMT)
Seeing a day before anyone else was great.
HaTcH - May 23, 2005 02:32 AM (GMT)
I just got back from seeing it.. O.O; wow. The CG was astounding, even, for someone who has refined taste for modern techie movies. I can't wait to see it again.
@ U-wolf: Even if you aren't into the whole Star Wars scene, you have to admit that the story holds true to everything via very deep architypes. It speaks to everyone some how... Whether it be Romance, Trajedy, OOO SPACE ALIENS!!!, Good vs Evil --> super heroes, inner stuggles. Star Wars has it all.

When they return from the space battle and Anikan goes with the politicians it's docked on a platform in the background.
I find Star Wars to be one of the best realms to really get into, the possibilities are endless, and there's the Extended Universe material to keep you interested. Rawks.
ZeRoRaVeN - May 24, 2005 12:26 AM (GMT)
T_T I haven't gotten around to see it....so busy....they say it kicked ***...besides I probably would have to order a half a day ahead otherwise It'll be sold out.....
How long is it anyway?

True, true...But the Tolkien Realms are even more fun to poke around with...I wrote a seventeen-chapter LOTR fanfiction last year, set some twenty years after the end of ROTK...It got deleted, but it rawked...
@ZR: A week early, more like...it's THAT huge.
I ain't seen it yet...will do it about a week or so from now.
My buddies Jeff and Dan agreed to get together with me and do Star Wars UberFest: We're gonna watch One and Two(my least fave), then go see Three, and then go back and watch Four, Five and Six(my fave). Not the new Special-Edition DVDs with the watered-down Han Solo and such...the ORIGINAL movies, on VHS...so Old-School.
And btw:
Carrie Fisher (in ROTJ) >>> Natalie Portman (in TPM and AOTC)
Now they need to do something about the lack of Ewoks in the prequels...jk :D
(Man, I spoiled myself silly about this movie - I read the freakin' script like, three months ago...)

Its 128 Minutes I think. (about 2 hours)
The wait was an hour on sunday's 7:00 showing in my area, completely packed still, and the theatre was playing the movie on 5 screens on an interval of 15 minutes apart.
Capitila - May 24, 2005 07:23 AM (GMT)
Went for 2 hours 20 minutes I thought..

It could have been just another space ship that happened to have th same design as the Falcon.

Very true...the YT-1300 was a very common transport, as it's got lots of room tohide stuff in, AND it's highly customizable...that makes it a favorite among smugglers, as we already knew.
It's a Correlian design, like the Tantive IV (Blockade Runner).
The updated version, the YT-2400, is the same thing, only sleeker, faster, and with more room to hide stuff. That was never in any of the movies, it's an EU thing. I don't like the YT-2400 as much, it's not as kewlzies.
Scottfab - May 27, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
I didnt see the Falcon...
is it true that there's actually alot more books than the movies that flesh out alot of before, middle, and after?
also, I was dissapointed about how suddenly Anakin went from "troubled kid" to "loyal sith". I dont want to ruin it for anybody, but it happens in the blink of an eye, and I'm dissapointed about that.
Capitila - May 28, 2005 04:53 AM (GMT)
Pretty sure it was the Millenium Falcon, google it, there's quite a few other people who believe they've seen it too.
The EU is actually quite large, the New Jedi Order is the newest I think. There's lots of comics, games and books out there, Clone Wars is considered EU too.

Scottfab - May 28, 2005 05:24 AM (GMT)
I couldve swore I read a star wars book once. Probably Jedi Acadamy. One of the students gets his arm chopped off.
Sky Dragon - June 8, 2005 04:22 PM (GMT)
Just saw it this past week...OMFG! IT IS AWESOME!!!
There's a cruel irony about it in that
Anakin became responsible for the very thing he so desperately wanted to avoid.
That is to say, Padme's death - His entire motivation here is his desperately wanting the power to defeat death, because of the premonitions that are obsessing him, showing Padme dying in childbirth. Yet at the end, when he starts choking her on Mustafar, and then drops her, he caused such damage (not physically, but emotionally and psychologically) that she lost the will to live. Therefore, he was directly responsibe for his wife's death
Loved the fight against Grievous, and the final Duel...they brought back "Duel of the Fates" from EpI for a little while. It was so freakin' FAST though, the final duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin? CRAZY! Loved what happened to Tyrannus(Dooku) too.
Hehehehe...OFF WITH HIS HEAD!
Also love how Windu was kicking Palpatine's sorry arse, right up until the point when Anakin (hereafter referred to as DAB, aka DarkAngstyBoy) showed up and sliced his arm off, allowing Sidious to zap him out the window.
Yes, it WAS the same kind of transport...Lemme look up the Falcon itself, see if it really was it. Of course, 99% of SW fanboys don't differentiate "Millenium Falcon" and "YT-1300", and I'm not sure if there's any way of really telling from the outside...Did you guys know that the "Millenium Falcon" was schizophrenic?
Whitewolf - August 5, 2005 01:06 AM (GMT)
I went to see it & saw a bunch the high school guys from school.
