Title: W00t!! E3 '2005 and Next Generation Consoles
Description: wow!!!

Drk-X - May 17, 2005 12:34 AM (GMT)
NOTE: If you can here from the SPAM forum...good job. You get a kewlzies point!!! :P

Okay, for the past few days, despite being sick, I've been looking over the information over the three next-gen consoles: X-Box 360, Playstation3, and the Revolution.

Frankly, I'm impressed with the Revolution the most.

Let's go over the information shall we?

X-Box 360
-About the size of the usual desktop computer
-Stands either vertically or horizontally
-Silver and White are the main color schemes
-Wireless controllers
-Controllers appear exactly the same as the old X-Box controllers
-Silver Subscription to X-Box Live is free and allows chat, downloads, updates, and access to demos
-Three models will be released: Hard Drive, no Hard Drive, and Hard Drive AND Router built in.
-Gold Subscription offers all that plus online multiplayer. Not free however...
-Higher Graphics Engine
-Can still play DVDs
-Backwards compatable
-To be released Q4 of 2005.
-Also, Halo3 is to come out the same day Ps3 does....doubt that'll actually happen but oh wellz.

Not really bad. Here's some things though:

-It's being released WAAAAAAY too early. Look at what happened to the Dreamcast. Releasing a console a year ahead is just ASKING for the other two to step up and send it straight to hell.
-The graphics don't look THAT much better than the normal X-Box...in fact, it looks the same except the video quality is higher than what our TVs probably give us.
-Don't really see much point in the model that comes with a router since most people already have em anyways.

So overall, it's just a slighly improved X-Box in my opinion except it's MUCH nicer looking, and there's the wireless controllers and Silver subscription for those who can't get Gold.

PlayStation 3:

Not much info here. Sony's been keeping it in the shadows.

-Backwards compatable with the PS1 and PS2
-Rumored to feature dual wield controllers (no bar in the middle, the controllers are made of two parts.)
-Can play DVD's
-Graphics Engine supposedly exceeds the X-Box 360
-Wifi base for the PSP.
-Uses Cell Processing Technology
-Release Date: Q2 2006.

That's all I know. Can't say much till I know more.

Pictures of the PS3: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3140590

Revolution:

-When laid horizontally, it's smaller than three DVD cases stacked on top of one another. That's one TINY system.
-Can be set up horizontally or vertically.
-Due to the success of the Wavebird, wireless controllers are now standardized and the battery life is said to be MUCH longer than before.
-Graphics engine said to match and possible exceed that of the X-Box 360.
-Extreme Backwards compatability with not only the GCN but with ALL past-gen Nintendo consoles. (NES, SNES, N64)
-Can play DVD's
-Uses 12 cm optical media discs.
-While there's no GBA connectibity, the DS can be used as a controller for certain games and there's DS connectivity.
-Acts as a DS WiFi Base.
-WiFi for itself RIGHT out of the box.
-Online Multiplayer and chat (possible free for both considering what's been done with the DS)
-To be released in Q3 2006

Nice!!!.....z0mFgZ....T0T4LLY T3H 4W3s0m3Z!!! :P

As for E3...I'm personally looking foward to only two games at the moment. (One of them is taking up too much of my attention.)

First off on my own personal list, we have Rockman.EXE 5 Twin Leaders...a.k.a. Megaman Battle Network 5 Double Team.

While I've already played, beaten, aced, and pretty much done EVERYTHING there is to do with both EXE5 Team of Colonel AND Team of Blues..(and it's STILL not out in the US yet)...this new combined third version proves VERY interesting.

Info:

-Different storyline to suit the involvement of both teams.
-New Bosses and chips to go with them (I'm REALLY hoping for Geminiman this time, he'll go well with the Pincer Liberate battles.)
-Customizable Teams for Liberate Missions. You can swap around to have up to 6 teammates, one of each specification (Leader, Defense, Reconaisance, Attack, Tactics, Support)
-Utilizes the microphone in order to allow vocal orders to be given to your navi.
-Utilizes touchscreen to send chips of your choice to Rockman if you don't want to wait for chips normally.
-Optionally, you can also battle "Operation Mode" style, just like from EXE4.5.
-Utilizes a new model of the Battle Chip Gate for Operation Mode Battle.
-Revamped Tactics commands for Operation Mode Battle.
-Bottom Screen acts as both 3D model of Rockman (which you can talk to or give battle chips to) and Rockman can pull up an overhead map of whichever area you're in. Also, tactics are planned here.
-All 24 Soul Unisons and Chaos Unisons are available as well as both versions of Forte Cross Rockman.
-The E-Reader can be used in the GBA slot in order to upload E-Reader modifiers.
-Liberation Missions are increased in difficulty due to increased amount of team members.

All that, and what we currently have in EXE5 is to be expected.

And now, what we REALLY care about...The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess. This game has been voted as the most awaited game of both 2004 and 2005 in E.G.M....seriously, it's held #1 in the top 10 hot list for a whole year now. Other than the new consoles, this has been considered the main event of E3 for a while.

What to expect:

-The game is indeed the sequel to The Wind Waker. This means it's the 4th game in the timeline (canon-wise) and goes before the original NES Zelda.
-You will have a horse like in Ocarina of Time.
-The game is in fact land-based
-The overworld is said to be VAST like an RPG. You will have to do lots of exploring to get EVERYTHING.
-Like Wind Waker, there is plenty to do in terms of non-linear/sidequest gameplay.
-You CAN hijack the boars that Bokoblins ride.
-Enemies that have been shown to appear so far include Wolfos, Stalfos, Lizalfos, Dinolfos, Armos, Bokoblins, Moblins, Keese, Darknuts, and Gohmas. Where's our good friend the Octorok??? Bleah, he's bound to appear somewhere.
-Weapons confirmed so far are the Bow (probably named the Hero's Bow again), Fire Arrows, Sword (duhr), Shield (double duhr), and Bombs. (Well, these weapons are in EVERY Zelda game...but it's not my fault there aren't enough screens :( :( :( )
-There will be time change, something present in the last three 3D Zelda games.
-There's rumoured to be weather change as well. Although I dunno how it'll work, the two N64 games did incorporate the Song of Storms and rainy weather into the game so who knows.

Sounds awesome eh?

I'm putting my cookie (cookies!) on xbox 360, I've seen some reviews and they seem to be impressed. Its supposed to double as a media hub and supposedly have HDTV quality video games (yea right) of course there are price hikes in games. The xbox is supposed to also have 3 3-something ghz processers...I think

PS3 is supposed to use cell technology and be the most powerful console but so far Sony is not saying much.

Bleah, I've found the X-Brick 360 to be a huge dissapointment as compared to what has been expected.

-It's still a fatarse system
-Wireless was totally not original, and no longer unique either.
-You STILL have to pay for online multiplayer. The updates are important, but everything else on the silver X-Brick Live subscription can also be done normally on the internet, like I'm doing right now. (z0mfgz!!! l33t!!! 34t d4t M1cr0sftz!!!111!!!)
-The graphics aren't THAT much better.
-Despite the higher power processors, there's still gonna be loading times due to the bigger games. After all, that's the reason why we have a new console eh???

Zelos - May 17, 2005 03:25 AM (GMT)
First, links!

XBox 360 pics, specs, and misc info
PS3 Pics and specs
Revolution info

In case you don't know what all the specs for the 360 and PS3 mean, just know this, when the 360's specs were first revealed, they were regarded as god like among PC enthusiasts. The PS3 is several times more powerful then the 360. I hear that the PS3 has about 1/3 the power of the most powerful super computer in the world.

Not much has been announced for the Revolution, and really all that has been confirmed is what is in that link.

Oh, and there is a good chance that Nintendo WILL NOT show the Revolution at their press conference tomorrow. Shame. Only time will tell though; nobody was expecting the Zelda trailer last year, either.

By the end of the week, I'll be able to compile a super long list of info on all three systems, I bet.

EDIT: Oh, this has nothing to do with E3, but, Pokemon XD: Dark Winds Dark Lugia. It appears to be based off Colosseum, but as along as they fix the graphics glitches and has a better story, I'm happy. Hardly anything is known about it yet, though... Dark Lugia is awsome...

Drk-X - May 17, 2005 03:38 AM (GMT)
Hmm, say the PS3 info, and I'd have to say it's prety impressive. I'm still going with the Revolution.

Oh yeah, I used to bring my Gamecube to school and it wasn't too hard...with the size of the Revolution, it'll be a breeze. I'll tell my teachers it's a book :P :P :P

Anyways, back to E3. It'll be held in Los Angeles starting May 17th, 2005 (w00t!!! only 6 hours awayz if I drive.....and about 60 hours if I ride a bike!!!! z0mFgz!!!! E3 Here I come!!!)

...open only to the press and gaming-related persons of course......ebil public haters...:(

Someone's gonna have a REALLY hard time holding me back from running through here:

Those are some nice looking stairs...I wanna paint my stairs like that.

Er... I'm not sure I'm reading both of your posts right but speed is irrelevant unless comparing processors of the exact same architecture. The PS3 and 360 may have impressive numbers but they're still nothing when compared to most PCs. Hell, I bet the PC I'm on right now has more power then both of them.

What is impressive though is that they fit that much power into a console. In that regard, they are in fact quite godly. The price tag for both of them is a little much though. I was planning to get all three systems when they launch but I guess that isn't going to be the case any longer.

If Halo 3 is released the same day as PS3 (awesome marketing move) it's going to severely kill Sony. They'll bounce back but it will most surely be a heavy hit. I personally see Xbox getting the advantage because of its early release? PS2 anyone? That was released early when compared to the other two and as such kicked major arse.

Also, the only game that I really saw that had to do with the 360 was the new Dead Or Alive, which has already been confirmed to be using Xbox specs IIRC.

As for right now I'm looking forward to the 360 and PS3 with equal entusiasm with the Revolution trailing behind. Kind of sad too since I got the Gamecube first.

Capitila - May 17, 2005 11:50 AM (GMT)
I'm most looking forward to PS3 having Blu-ray, interesting to see what game developers do with it, and how it affects competition. 54GB disk. *drool*

Raven - May 17, 2005 01:29 PM (GMT)
MrGuy, even top-end PCs can't process as many Floating-Point Operations (FLOPs) as the X-Box 360 can. As FLOPs are used for Physics and 3D World positioning, etc.. the more you can push the more realistic the world can be.

While the number of Pixel Operations the graphics card can push determins the graphics quality.

On first look.. the Playstation 3 certainly does look extremely powerful.
Yet Sony's claim that it is capable of out-performing the X-Box 360 is only a half truth.

The X-Box 360 is capable of pushing 1 TeraFlop, which means around 1,000,000,000 Floating-Point Calculations per second.

The Playstation 3 is only really capable of 218 GigaFlop (218,000,000 Operations). This is roughly what a Pentium 4 3.2GHz or Athlon64 3000+ is capable of.

If we tip the scales we see that the Graphics Processors however, seem to tell a different story. Unfortunately Sony aren't forthcomming with the information about thier processing capabilities with the GPU.

We know that it alone is capable of 1.8 TeraFlops.. however while this is impressive, the 360 GPU is capable of calculating 48 Seperate Shaders at once.

What this means (and what was projected) is that the X-Box 360 will run quickly using very small shaders but alot of them. Much like how Half-Life 2 works with it's Material System.

The PS3 on the other hand will be able to produce some hugely complex almost cinematic quality shaders... like for example real-time fluids. (Sony were quick to show off the demo of this)

However given that the PS3's power effectively is derived from it's Graphics Processor, which will be available on PCs sometime in Summer 2006. It does mean that the PS3 effective isn't going to be that much more powerful than next years high-end desktops.

The X-Box 360 however is capable of calculating physics so quickly as to allow for a new generation of physics and interaction.
There was a demo they were showing off where metal rather than smashing to peices bent and crumpled under pressue and heat.

The PS3 will be able to do this via the Graphics Processor's Vertex Shaders, however this means that it will not be able to be *as* easily integrated or complex. As Shaders do not yet posses the depth of C++/C# with which to program.

On a personal note, I think the PS3 looks like a BetaMax tapedeck. BLECK! Horrible, as is the controller.
I'm looking forward the Nintendo Revolution though.

It's also good to know that all three consoles are backward compatible.

Zelos - May 17, 2005 02:46 PM (GMT)
THIS JUST IN!!!!! POSSIBLE NINTENDO REVOLUTION PICTURES!

Link to the article!

These have not been confirmed by Nintendo as far as I know, but there appears there's a very good chance they're real.

If they are real, then, THE REVOLUTION IS FREAKING AWESOME! It's so small! It looks thiner then 3 DVD cases even! And it's BLACK!

*Commences drooling*

Oh, and I have better stairs then those :P

'Twas an exaggeration to demonstrate my point. My processor and RAM may be top of the line but my graphics card is severely lacking (which sucks, as it hurts my Doom 3 performance). The point was that comparing consoles to computers is a futile effort. The consoles may have awesome graphic potential right now, but by next year at the latest PCs will have all this crap plus a bag of chips.

Nintendo's new console does indeed look aesthetically pleasing... but what about the controller? Are they going to put a touch screen in as rumored (disgusting idea, I refuse to buy the console then)? Hopefully they'll keep something like the Gamecube layout.

I personally like the looks of PS3 the best so far though (besides the fugly controller). It also has a ton of sweet launch games. Can anyone say new GTA and Devil May Cry 4? Plus a new Killzone, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, and Gran Turismo are confirmed.

Also, the claims for the new Revolution have been pretty sub par. Xbox 360 is supposedly 10 to 13 times more powerful then the first Brick while PS3 is 35 times more powerful then the PS2 (obviously Sony's exaggerating a tad). Nintendo currently is saying the Revolution will be 2 to 3 times as powerful... yeah... ;)

K-62 - May 17, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
The names just get worst and worst. ;)

I hate the PS3 controler it looks like a banana, a very expesive banana. And the font they used remines me of Spider Man.

The Xbox 360(worst name ever next too Nintendo Revolution) controller looks like my bed.

König Warrior - May 17, 2005 09:42 PM (GMT)
Guys, go to IGN.com! They have a full coverage of Revolution, including new info that is real.

Also IGN has those Revolution pics that Zelos shows, meaning this thing might be the real one.

Drk-X - May 17, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
Bleah, I like the fact that if I were to stick a book cover onto the Revolution, I could pass it off as a literature book and bring it to school. :P :P :P

And when you think about it, the PS3 controller looks rather uncomfortable to me. I tried holding a banana like that for a while with my thumbs up as if I were playing and my wrists felt strange afterwards.

And I don't think the Revolution needs to be so much more powerful than the Gamecube. Nintendo has always been good at making the best out of very little (which I believe can be best demonstrated with the size of the Gamecube, Revolution, and DS)

..And for those of you who don't know, there's a new trailer for the Legend of Zelda 2k5 game. And the official name has been confirmed to be "The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess. Neat eh?

*searches for link*

Check back in a bit also for some info on the GameBoy Micro.

EDIT: It's funny that E3 is the only time I find IGN useful...*is a member there.*

not much info on the Revolution, and they're still curiously using the Revolution codename. I've never known a product ever to ship with it's codename as the final name.

The N64 cut it close being called the Ultra 64 right up until almost release.

Still the information they provided is exactly all I cared about.
While Sony and Microsoft are boasting about thier performance capabilities and showing off amazing new graphics.

Nintendo focused on how thier new wave of games and consoles are changing how we play games as a whole. In the end this is most of the reason I've always had an Nintendo console since launch.

Not because it's the only thing to get Mario on, but because the games developed for these consoles are made for everyone. Minority gamers don't need to worry about never being catered for because Nintendo games constantly are pushing the envelope on excellent gameplay combined with graphics that fit the form of thier games perfectly.

:) I for one am very very excited to hear that it isn't just backwardly compatible with the last generation... but EVERY Generation of Nintendo. The games will be fully downloadable to the console through it's WiFi Broadband.

There has been no word on the specifications of the new Nintendo Console.. but remember despite their last console being touted as 'extremely inferior' to the X-Box in power terms. Resident Evil 4 due out at the end of the year for both PS2 and X-Box quite frankly don't look even half as good as the GameCube version.

Nintendo have been and will continue to produce systems and games for the masses to enjoy rather than keeping specific genre's with overwhelming graphics.

Almost every game shown for the PS3 and X-Box 360 looks great.
If your a sport, fps, or racing fan.

Nintendo showcased 60games due out in FY06 (July 05 - June 06) for the GameCube that covered every genre you could think of.. realistically speaking only the X-Box 360 will be out before the next E3.

Yet rumour is that Nintendo will unviel the Revolution properly on Thursday. :)

Drk-X - May 17, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)

As a console, the new X-Brick does not appeal to me at all...so for me it's a tossup between PS3 and Revolution...probably gonna be the former, as I have neither a GC nor games for it.
Although b4 that happens, I hope to see ZOIDS PS2 Games...I know there's like 2 out in Japan right now...

König Warrior - May 17, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
Actually Nintendo DS was the codename for that... so there you go...

The super backward compatibility, downloading games from Nintendo's past, so true.

On Gamespot.com, you can watch the video of the Nintendo E3 press conference, where they show off and tell on new stuff for the DS, the GBMicro, new games for Gamecube, and most importantly, Iwata shows of the Revolution prototype (same as those pictures).

Iwata says the final version of Revolution is supposed to be even smaller than that, and they haven't decided on the final color.

The Press Conference video is 59 minutes.. but I thought it was worth it when it ended.

Drk-X - May 17, 2005 11:03 PM (GMT)
Zoids Infinity games won't be appearing at E3....

Knowing Nintendo, there will be MANY colors for the Revolution besides black with a bit of blue. I'd be pretty happy if they released an atomic see through version like with the N64. (Lolz, I love the color choices I've made for Nintendo consoles in the past. Limited Ice Blue for the GB Pocket, Limited Atomic Blue for the GBC, Default black for N64, and Indigo for the GCN.....ack, I sound so weird when I say this.)

What I wonder is when Nintendo will release the WiFi adaptors for the DS. I love how it's promised to be free. Of course, I'm already very happy with the long range wireless connectivity.

Wait? What? RE4 is coming out for XBox as well? Last I heard it was only coming out for the PS2. Despite my love of the XBox, I kind of wanted GC to keep RE4 all to itself. IMO, it was the Gamecube equivelent of Halo 2 and GTA.

On the topic of the new Zelda game, it does look mad cool. Not too keen on the idea of Link being rode on when he's a wolf but it's still kind of cool. I think it's also kind of cool how this game is based off another work known as Ladyhawke. It seems to be shaping up as a retelling of that story.

Drk-X - May 17, 2005 11:43 PM (GMT)
Here we go. The new Legend of Zelda Trailer.

http://www.1up.com/do/download?cId=2019488

Also, you can find other DS trailers as well.

EDIt: w00ps...wrong trailer...

Information so far on the storyline:

In the Tauro Village outside of the new Hyrule (remember the ending of Wind Waker???) Link is summoned to the Hyrule Summit. However, Hyrule is now covered by an area known as the Twilight Realm. When Link enters the Twilight Realm for the first time, he is transformed into a wolf. A mysterious female figure named Midna (yes, that's the girl's name for those who thought she was Zelda/Tetra) meets up with him and with her magic, Link and Midna set off to free the land of Hyrule from the Twilight Realm.

As you can see, animals play a huge part in this game.

There are rumors out there that like Link to the Past and Four Sword's Adventure, there will be an alternate world (Twilight Realm). In this case, it would be a world without life (hence, it's colorless.) This would be where Link transforms into his Wolf form of course. (Lolz, I like how he's a wolf this time although the bunny in LttP was funny.)

Ganondorf is most likely not the villain in this game...he's supposed to stay sealed until the first Legend of Zelda game occurs in the timeline.

And the Ocarina of Time music is back...Yayz!!! (Zelda's Lullaby was played during the trailer) ^_^

Did anyone notice that Midna's cloak bears the symbol of the Sheikah??? (the same symbol found on Gossip Stones in OoT and MM) When in the Twilight Realm, Midna takes the form of an imp of some sort.) Her magic allows Link to see ghosts and invisible spirit enemies (which is why the Twilight Realm is considered lifeless...everyone's a ghost.) Also, she can help Link in battle in the real world too. She's basically Navi/Tatl/King of Red Lions

The Boomerang is revamped once again!!! :) Not only does it target multiple enemies but it has a special tornado ability as well.

There appears to be voice acting unless the words on screen were not included for the sake of the trailer. (z0mfgz!!! Maybe Link might speak in this game...)

The goal of the game of course, is to save the Twilight Princess, who is trapped in the Twilight Realm.

So far, we've seen two bosses....the hooded fire demon that resembles the Balrag from The Fellowship of the Ring, and a large dragon.

And while Princess Zelda has not yet shown herself, many believe she is the hawk found in the Twilight Realm.

Did I mention the music for the game is totally awesome? And the new L-targetting system (demonstrated by Wolf-Link) and Link in different clothing looks interesting.

K-62 - May 18, 2005 12:04 AM (GMT)
There are some games like Zelda and Pirtes that I want, but other than that the next-gen of consoles are a let down to me. When will they learn to stick with what works and inprove on what works.

•When Link travels to the darkened land of Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and must scour the land with the help of a mysterious being named Midna.

•Ride into battle against troops of foul creatures, using an incredible horseback combat system, then take on massive bosses that must be seen to be believed.

•Many puzzles stand between Link and the fulfillment of his quest, so players must sharpen their wits as they hunt for weapons and items.

•Characters include Link, Zelda, Midna and many others, both new and old.

Link, a young man raised as a wrangler in a rural village, is ordered by the mayor to attend the Hyrule Summit. He sets off, oblivious to the dark fate that has descended upon the kingdom. When he enters the Twilight Realm that has covered Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and is captured. A mysterious figure named Midna helps him break free, and with the aid of her magic, they set off to free the land from the shadows.

Link must explore the vast land of Hyrule and uncover the mystery behind its plunge into darkness. As he does, he’ll have to enlist the aid of friendly folk, solve puzzles and battle his way through dangerous dungeons. In the Twilight Realm, he’ll have to use his wolf abilities and Midna’s magic to bring light to the land.

Besides his trusty sword and shield, Link will use his bow and arrows, fight while on horseback and use a wealth of other items, both new and old.

So far, we know there's the Sword, Shield, Bow, Magic Arrows, Boomerang, Bombs, and of course, Wolf-Link's natural arnaments. As for speculation:

-Hookshot: This has always been around. Let's put a "definately" for this one.
-Hammer: Magic Hammer, Megaton Hammer, Skull Hammer, the hammer arnament has made it's place into the Zelda games as well. Let's put a "maybe" for this one.
-Musical Instrument: I'm very sure we'll get something for this catergory.
-Empty Bottles: Duhr!!!
-Mirror Shield: Well, a LOT of the games have it, except for the first game, which had the Magic Shield instead, and AoL, which was a completely different game in terms of style as well as a few others. Let's put a "99%" for this one.
-Power Bracelet: Every game had it in some form or another with a few exceptions. Let's put a "Most likely" for this one.

Zelos - May 18, 2005 03:10 AM (GMT)
Grah, I was watching Nintendo's press conference (the non-live direct feed from IGN, I was in school during it) and I only had about ten minutes left when the feed was dropped. And, because it's a direct feed, I can't just go back to the part I missed! So now here I am, siting through the first 40 minutes just to see the end of the conference (I've already seen the Zelda trailer, but not the trailer before that with the bunch of Mario games among others. I also want to see the crowd's reaction to the trailer.)

I would have more to say, but as it is, my brain is overloading. I will leave with one final message,

REVOLUTION WILL PWN ALL!

P.S. That wasn't the final message. I just wanted to say, this download service of old games will lower the price of the orignals on Ebay quite dramatically. Now only collecters and people who don't get the Revolution will want them in cartridge form any more.

Drk-X - May 18, 2005 03:29 AM (GMT)
Of course, we all know that someone's gonna figure out how to make the downloads for the Revolution free. Either that or they'll become downloadable on P2P programs..... I kinda find this sad as it'll hurt Nintendo's sales. :(

Zelos - May 18, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
Not necesarily, the classic games are probably more of an extra source of money, they're probably aiming to get most of their money through revolution game sales. I'm guessing the classic games will be no more then $15, and that high would only be for the high profile N64 titles. Besides, there are already emulators for everything all over the place...

And, argh. It did it again. Tomorrow I'll have to look around for another version of the conference, I suppose I could always try Gamespot's feed. At least I'd have a different angle on things then. IGN's video person really isn't that good, he was always looking at the wrong thing...

Drk-X - May 18, 2005 03:50 AM (GMT)
Try getting the video off Nintendo's site. I believe they have a video up for download as well. *checks*

König Warrior - May 18, 2005 04:10 AM (GMT)
I watched it on Gamespot, had no problems, I suggest that.

Drk-X - May 18, 2005 04:38 AM (GMT)
At the moment, I suddenly feel like taking a PS3 controller and chucking it like a boomerang to see if it'll fly back. :P :P :P

Raven - May 18, 2005 11:10 PM (GMT)
Nintendo didn't say anything about the back library of games actually costing anything.

They said that thier Online Services would be free, and no hidden or monthly fees. They also said thier entire library of 2 million games will be downloadable and playable.

I would guess that GameCube, GBA and DS games will probably be charged, but there is a chance thier previous generation games will be free. Kinda like a 'Thank you' to the fans. :-)
Alright well that's more of a dream, but still being able to play all my favourite old games (and Final Fantasies :D) will be cool.

Yeah there is an X-Box version of RE4 comming. I think it's Capcom's way of sticking 2 fingers up at the PS2 Community for threatening to boycott thier games unless RE4 was released on the PS2.

What annoyed me about that most is that the PS2 owners have the exclusive Outbreak games. Maybe not AS awesome as RE4 but still, pisses me off that we have to share one of the best games to date.

Oh.. and the Codename for Nintendo DS was Generation. Though the DS wasn't actually announced until it had it's release name, which made more sense to people. Double-Screen, which was later shortened to DS.

Well at any-rate Nintendo seems to be pushing to continue thier previous mandate. This really fills my heart with joy (being a huge Nintendoid heh) that they truely want to provide more evolutionary and inventive games for the future.

Killzone 2, Call to Arms, Unreal 3 all look beatiful and all.. but at the end of the day there are just far too many FPS games. I just love how Nintendo's companies take a game.. and add a new dimension and twist to make it enjoyable.

They reinvented Zelda, Starfox, Metroid, as well as introduce some new characters like Billy Hatcher and Osmar with his Pikmin friends. As well as seeing some classic friends back in bigger and better adventures to date, even moving out on thier own.

It's why I love Nintendo so much.. it's never a dull moment with the Big-N, and the interactivity between the consoles just makes games feel more alive. Playing Crystal Chronicles or Zelda Four Swords with GBAs as the controllers and having the LCD showing you extra details specific to you. Just takes the whole gaming experience to a new level with a new dimension.

I'll be getting an X-Box 360, purely because of the Rareware games. It also is backwardly compatible with a limited library which hopefully will include Fable and Tomb Raider Legends.

I'll also be getting the Revolution because quite frankly, my living room will feel incomplete without it.

That said the PS3.. I dunno maybe after it's been out a while. It's big, ugly, and will cost $400. most likely knowing Sony just swap out the $ for a £ rather than calculate the REAL value.
I've never liked Playstation, and only own one to play Final Fantasy.. look forward to FFXII, but for now I'm happy keeping my PS2.

Graphics do look amazing and having the nvidia gpu does REALLY make me want it, but still.. doesn't justify the cost in a years time. or why my Sony WEGA Widescreen will appear to have 3 legs on the stand ;)

Zelos - May 18, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
Sure, they didn't say anything about a cost, but it would be pretty stupid to just give all those games away for free, especially ones such as Super Mario 64. If you can get it for free on your Revolution, why would you get it on the DS? Same goes for any other remakes/ports, such as the Classic NES series. I'm expecting a nominal charge, but I honestly don't care (I'll have a job by the time it's released). As soon as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 3, Earthbound, Super Metroid, and Super Mario RPG are available through it, I'm buying them all.

They didn't say anything about buying GCN, GBA, or DS games through it. First of all, the DS wouldn't even work (touch screen controllers will most likely NOT happen, now, gyroscopic seems fairly likely at this point with the Aries rumors flying about... Which I believe...), they'd be losing sales on GBA games, and backwords compatibility with GCN is achieved through physically shoving the disk into the system and playing it that way.

I thought the DS' codename was Nitro? The model number for anything officialy related to the DS even begins with NTR...

Oh, and the PS3's USD price converted from that possible Yen price point is more like $465 :P

Drk-X - May 18, 2005 11:36 PM (GMT)
...that's another thing I like about theoh Revolution. Knowing Nintendo, the Revolution will probably be MUCH cheaper than the 360 and PS3...

and if not, there's always Santa ^_^

*writes to Santa*

Zelos - May 19, 2005 03:57 AM (GMT)
I was rewatching the Revolution unveiling part (you can scroll through Gamespot's version of the Press Conference) and I noticed Iwata said "purchased" reagrding the classic games. So, I guess that settles it. There will be some price for them.

Drk-X - May 19, 2005 05:48 AM (GMT)
Well, knowing Nintendo, it can't be very expensive. ^_^

*bumped*

Quoted from a friend of mine who is attending E3 and is a staff member of Planet Megaman. (and doesn't live too far from me.)

Here's some info on the two new Sonic Games. Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Rush.

Shadow the Hedgehog.

QUOTE ("JosukeMidori")
Plays alot like SOnic A. 2 , Shadow is naturally your main man, In every stage, you will see two characters, Sonic, and an alien-like creature named "Doom Eye" Both of these will assist you. Sonic wants you to clear the stage defeating all the "Black Arms"(The alien creatures) where as Doom Eye would like you to harm the human GUN agents trying to destroy them, there is also a 3rd option, as in not listening to either of them and just searching for the chaos emerald.

The opening movie shows a group of Black arms being defeated by Sonic, Sonic is wounded.

All the SA2 skills are still around, the "Light Dash", the "Sumersault" and a new skill,. the wall kick, Shadow will run on the wall if you homing attack the wall. He can also grind and fight bare handed.

You are rewarded with a new weapon when you defeat an enemy, there are human weapons(Guns) and alien weapons(Lazers, and such) that you collect by pressing "B" on a weapon, it also has a set ammo you.

It's a fun new take on the SOnic style , But sonic playing second banana seems kinda alienating(he can't even use weapons like Shadow) Other characters like Knuckles and Tails aren't seen so far.

And here's what he has to say after playing the Sonic Rush demo.

QUOTE
This is a new Sonic game for the DS. The two screens are used to double the height of any given stage. There is also a new character who is unnamed, seems to be a female cat who is a mystical type character. No sign of Tails or KNuckles or any of them

There is also Sonic Gem Collection, which includes

"Sonic R"
"Sonic The Fighters"
and several Game Gear titles.

I played as Fang the Sniper(His name wasn't changed to "Nack the weasle" but Amy has an AKA as "Rosy the Rascal"(?) Fang is cheap

There is one level on the demo "Leaf Forest Zone" The boss doesn't even seem to be Eggman...(But it is a robot)

SOnic is the only character in the demo, it's a platformer, but you can use the Homing attack and a new action which is un named(I dub it "Sonic Blast")

Blaze isn't even in the video

Nice.....

lucky him...he got to play the Zelda demo. Also, from what I hear, Lord Phoenix of Planet-Megaman and himself were on TV playing Halo on G4's coverage of E3.

and.....more E3 goodness from another friend of mine.

Here we go...Advance Wars Double Strike.

QUOTE ("ViewtifulStarman")
Ooh, look!
Starman can make E3 topics too!

Didn't go to E3 like Josu or anything like that, but I've been able to get some information for Advance Wars: Double Strike for anyone who's interested and hasn't gotten it themselves yet (or, we can just discuss it instead XD).

Here's the new info that's been revealed from E3.

All of the COs from Advance Wars 2 except for Sturm are returning. (That includes Nell and Hachi)

There's a total of 9 new COs not counting any secret characters that might appear.
Two new Orange Star COs
Four new black Hole COs
One new CO each for Green Earth, Blue Moon and Yellow Comet

In addition to buying alternate colors, you can now also buy alternate outfits for your COs.

You can have up to 8 player wireless battles now using the tag team system, and apparently only one copy of the game.

Coming out in August...

And finally....updated info on Rockman.EXE 5 Twin Leaders... a.k.a. Megaman Battle Network 5 Double Team...

-Utilizes the microphone in order to allow vocal orders and cheers to be given to your navi.
-Voice Acting is in the game...straight from the anime.
-Tag Team Liberation Battles. Up to three navis can work to liberate a panel or combat a Darkloid in one turn.
-You can have two other navis accompany you on the net outside of battle.
-Chip Library includes all chips from EXE3, EXE3Black, EXE4, EXE4.5, and EXE5.

All I can say is...holy crap, think of all the new combos I can perform with such a large library of chips. In EXE4 and EXE5, I was able to deal 6080 dmg with Full Synchro, 2 Area Steals, Sanctuary, Double Point, Holy Dream, Atk+30, and 2 Atk+10's. With so many more chips....omgz!!!

RandomMeteor from EXE3 and MeteorEarth from EXE5...both of them in one folder = godly

PlasmaBall3 + MagnetSoul = VERY VERY VERY VERY Godly.

SandStage + GyroSoul = OMFG I think I'm gonna have a heart attack!!! XD XD XD

Fumikomizan + Blues Soul = wtf??? Four steps I guess???

Meteor Earth + Heat+30 + Napalm Soul = Yayz!!! The return of power ups!!!

And assuming the navis from those two games appear somehow (I wonder how the SP versions would work???)

Flashman + IceStage + Magnet Soul = pwn4ge!!!

Oh yeah, 4.5 is also included so also expect the Final Gun chip, Starman, StarmanSP, and StarmanDS as well. Totally awesome ^_^

With such a large library...time to make godly comboes ^_^

I'd also like to mention a few more things.

Along with being able to make customized teams in Liberate Missions, you can also now perform TagTeam Battles. That's right. Up to three members can liberate a single panel at once. Although this may seem rather useless in clearing paths as it wastes turns on a single panel (unless you're one of those players who cannot win a virus battle in three turns...<_<) it's excellent against DarkVirus fights and Darkloid fights as while you have less overall turns (whether you have 3tag team at once or 2tag team at once, they still get shoved into three turns of the custom gauge.)...there are many benefits:

-You're less likely to die as the combined HP in those three turns if higher
-COMBOES!!!! What we REALLY care about. All the navis have different abilities of course. If you were to combine their abilities through switching, you could create one hell of a fight.

Examples:

Let's say we have a tag team of Rockman and NapalmMan for the turn. Have Rockman activate Tomahawk Soul in the beginning of the battle....you're given a grassy field at soul unison initiation, tag with Napalm and let hell loose with his golden chip, Napalm Bomb.

OR you could take advantage of Elemental chip charges.

Also, I believe that Gyroman can also bring tagged teammates along over dark panels as they simply grab and hang from his skids while he flies as a helicopter. I dunno if Shadowman will have a similar ability. This is VERY handy in performing the Gyroman/Medi Twin Liberation combo.
