...there's already an existing e3 thread genius...look for it. <_<

Keep all E3 and next-gen console discussion to that topic.

And while I'm at it, you're in the wrong board...

Keep all E3 and next-gen console discussion to that topic.

And while I'm at it, you're in the wrong board...

Yea... I could have done that but then it would have been in the depths of a thread.

König Warrior - May 19, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
And this too should be in gaming....

Moved...

Wolven Zero - May 19, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
The radio this morning got it totally wrong. They said it'd be 32x more powerful than the PS2... which would mean it'd be like, 500x32=1,6000mhz

duke - May 20, 2005 12:05 AM (GMT)
Oh man, don't forget about the games already announced:

Darksector
Devil May Cry 4
Tekken 6
Killzone 2 (I will NOT go into a huge flame war about whether that trailer was using an ingame engine)
and the most godly of them all: Metal Gear Solid 4 (one of the funniest trailers I've seen online since the last time I saw a Red Vs Blue episode)

Nothing else matters.

Dont buy!

>_< Macs...

Though those are some SWEET system stats...

Atrophy Within - May 20, 2005 08:15 AM (GMT)
Wow, Fuz is getting sassy... x.x

Hmm, I don't much care for it... I'm tired of buying systems, only to buy the new version,a dn then buy yet another... I want one damn system, no buy new ones... QUIT MAKING ME WASTE MY MONEY!!! @.@

I'll do just fine with my N-64 and Nintendo, thank you very much...

Raven - May 22, 2005 01:17 AM (GMT)
I don't understand what people are complaining about..
The Playstation 3 and Revolution are 12months off yet (and that's if they release on-time which c'mon isn't likely)

Also each console generation is superceeded every 5years. Nintendo set this standard since 1986 with the NES, and I don't see the tradition changing anytime soon.

No one will force you to upgrade, though honestly I think console prices were out of control this time. Except for Nintendo, which again seems to be likely this time too.

Zelos - May 22, 2005 03:55 AM (GMT)
I agree with you, Raven. Everyone is all complaining about the Revolution and how Nintendo doidn't show the controller (along with the actualy revolution) or actualy gameplay footage. What I don't get though, is why do they WANT to know everything about it a year before it comes out?! I am GLAD they didn't show more as if they did, I'd be crazy and out of my mind for the next year with anticipation. As it is, though, I am just interested enough to want to know more about it, but not enough that I go mad with the wait for it to come out.

On topic, I find the design of the PS3, awkward, to say the least. It is just to big, bulky, bulgy, and strange. More like a piece of alien technology then a game console (just as the 360 looks more like a stylish computer). And, like someone else said, the PS3's convexity and 360's concavity makes it seem as if Sony and Microsoft designed them together so you can stack the 360 on top of the PS3.

Does anyone know how much capacity a Blu-Ray disk can hold versus a standard DVD (such as the Revolution will be using) *Is oblivious to development on BR and HD-DVD disks*

Capitila - May 22, 2005 04:42 AM (GMT)
Dual-layered Blu-Ray holds up to 54GB.

I'm not too interested in the upcoming consoles; bring out some seamless Virtual Reality and then I'll be excited.

Zelos - May 22, 2005 05:04 AM (GMT)
O_O Damn, I knew they held a lot, but DL-BR can hold 54 GIGS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

That's just, huge...

Capitila - May 22, 2005 07:25 AM (GMT)
DL-BR? I've only heard it be referred to as BD-R, BD-ROM or BD-RE. But yeah, that's why I'm looking forward to seeing what game developers do with it, it's a hell of a lot of space. Couple of days ago they announced a 100GB Blu-ray prototype disk, but I don't think that will be used with the PS3.

Zelos - May 22, 2005 08:29 AM (GMT)
Well, you said dual-layered, and dual layered DVDs are referred to as DL-DVDs, so, I put two and two together and got DL-BR...

*Is still oblivious to BR and HD-DVD disks*

Capitila - May 22, 2005 09:56 AM (GMT)
Ah, fair enough. The only reason I know a bit about it is because I had to do an essay on the workings of things making use of EM, and chose holographic memory and Blu-ray.

Trowa - May 23, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
Look at this way if you buy a PS3 and you are playing multtplayer and get use the controller as a boomrang and hit your friend in the head lol.

I was watching E3 and the footage I liked the most was the Killzone thingy looked cool.

Raven - May 23, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)
yeah, but if it's as low-quality as the PS2's original controller it'll probably shatter on impact :P

I have gone thru over 20 ones this way so far... I get them for free... so no biggie.

Trowa - May 23, 2005 10:01 PM (GMT)
I had to fix 1 of my controllers because of my friends brother throwing down when he lost at GT3.

ZeRoRaVeN - May 23, 2005 10:18 PM (GMT)
Well then its not the controller's fault since one of your friends throw it, usualy when you throw something you throw it HARD....simply be more careful with your controllers....

Raven - May 23, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
heh.. well i've gone through 6-7 controllers because of button bashing games like Soul Calibre and Tekken.

one time accidentially dropped one it fell down the stars and literally shatters on the floor, yet the PSOne and PS2-Slim controller have survived longer.. heck we got our PSOne right before the PS2 came out and it's lasted so long :)

most of the other consoles we have (got an N64, GC, and XB atm) never had problems with the controllers. it isn't how they're treated so much, more the fact it's just low-quality pre-fabrication.

I wouldn't mind so much if it ment they cost less, but when I can get a GC Official controller for £15 and a PS2 Official controller for £26 it kinda irks me a bit. (don't like buying unofficial hardware, i'm kinda fussy about that)

ZeRoRaVeN - May 23, 2005 10:32 PM (GMT)
Buying unoffical hardware could actualy be better and more withstanding (I hope) why waste money buying offical ones when you might be able to go though only 1 unoffical one or well a few...saves time an' money...

What's that money sign again? What currency is that? Is it euros or something...?

Raven - May 24, 2005 02:09 AM (GMT)
: eye-twitches : .. € is the euro sign, £ is the pound sign.
Well, I've grown up in the days of the old consoles.. where Quality is found within the official hardware.

For Nintendo and Microsoft this is still true. It's only Sony that it isn't.
But then while the longevity does extend with the unofficial hardware, to be honest I can't stand some of those 3rd party Analog Sticks and D-Pads.

Sky Dragon - May 29, 2005 07:54 PM (GMT)
I love the PS3...DEFINITELY cooler than the new X-Brick.
Although the Nintendo "Revolution" looks cool...

(Love how "PLAYSTATION 3" is written on the ide of the console in the same font used for the Titles of the Spider-Man movies and all related merchandise)

Oh. My. GOD.

DUDE! Not to insult you or anything, but I strongly suggest using a spell-checker/grammar-checker...or else learning to type.

And OF COURSE the PS3's gonna be better than the PS2. Have you EVER heard of any example, barring Windows OS, in which ANY upgraded version of a product was worse than the original? I have never.
As for myself, I've had a PS2 since it came out, and NEVER had any problems with it.

Zelos - June 10, 2005 03:51 PM (GMT)
He looks like someone from GameFAQs somehow got loose on here. From experiance, don't even try to tell them about spelling and grammar, they don't listen.

Um, Windows XP is far better then any previous versions of Windows...

As I see it more, I'm starting to not find the PS3's design to be so bad. It's still not great, but it is pretty neat looking. At the same time, the more I see the 360 the more plain I think it looks. It just doesn't have much to attract me. Also, at the same time, the more I see the Revolution, the more I think it is the best looking console in the world :D

Michael - June 11, 2005 08:13 AM (GMT)
lol well im waiting 4 Windows long horn

eh, screw it. get mac osx tiger.

Zelos - June 12, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
But can Macs play all the games Windows can? Nope. And if you don't care for those games, get Linux :D

Besides, it's kind of pointless to buy a Mac with a Power PC Processor now since next year ones with Intel processors will be coming out...

Capitila - June 12, 2005 04:39 AM (GMT)
But you can say that for all technologies. There'll always be something better coming out. I like to think you should buy when you need it, not according to the next generation of products.

Scottfab - June 12, 2005 07:21 AM (GMT)
exactly, PPC isnt dead yet. The large tower Power Macs wont get replaced for over 2 years. Really, only the laptop crowd should wait.
