Yeah, feedback on my new sig & av? I personally like the simplicity, and as I said in the sig the inspiration came from MrGuy's banner. Avatar isn't great, I know.... Well I guess the simple ness is a break from my flashy banners :\

What you guys won't realize right away is that the right blade of the Bladey is missing. I am actually happy about how it turned out because there was only a small segment of the blade from the original image, so I did a simple little trick that makes it appear as the blade was never there from the beginning. No I didn't completely erase it; if you look closely you can still see some of its hinge, but I blended it in a cool-ish way that I'm proud of :P

Amazing, and you accomplished it without using a trippy background! The liger seems kinda... smallish on the right. Makes for ballance issues, but other than that, I like it.

Matching banner/av is nice. I would however remove the text on the avatar. Saying Blade is redundant, and "part of the deadly duo" doesn't fit well.

Meh, I opened this thread with intent that the gfx will be subject to change :P

I guess you're right about the text in the av...makes it look bad-ish, and I actually was thinking of doing something else with the text. I have an idea that I'll try out now. As for the "balance "issue, well...Liger does weight something in the tons XP

EDIT: I prefer to keep my name on the av, but I tried to make it not stand out this time....

Its good, the colors fit well together. But the Liger could have been a bigger....

Van's face is a bit bright, so its difficult to truely distinguish the face a bit, but meh. Its nifty I suppose. I'm not a fan of Blade Ligers.... :P

That was the point of the effect I aplpied - make Van stand out more. It darkened the dark areas and lightened the light areas. As for the Bladey, I liked the former one better but w/e...any Bladey is just fine with me :)

I never saw the former one you speak of, so I can't give an opinion in comparison. Its a cool av and sig, I just like color, and I'm picky. :P And your wild backgrouds are what I like when I look at your sets. hehe They are pretty.

Now that looks good. Got some contrast going on with the light face/dark image, and its size is more better (lol), less negative space behind the bladey.

The avatar also looks better.

Yeah I thought I'd divert attention to and fro the "Blade" by making it very faint. The person's attn is averted to Van, the focus of the image, and then back to the "Blade" as they wonder what it says. Artistic rather than flashy :)

And I was aiming for balance as you wanted, and there you have it.

You sound very much like a artist...overall I think its quite good...the background isn't really my kind of style...but its your preference. I don't know so much about the bright look in the avatar...

I'm not much of an artist to be honest. I did take 3 art classes (INtro to Art, Ceramics, Computer Art) so I do know a bit of artistic techniques and whatchamacallits. But I'm not an aspiring artist or gfx designer to be honest. At any rate, the theme of this set was simplicity....

Yea I noticed...it might look a little better if you showed more of Van's face in the avatar..yanno move him out a little bit towards the right...

That'd leave little space to add the text, and it's already as wide as it can be in dimension.

Oh and what more, I kinda like it the way it is because it adds a bit more..mysteriousness and highlights his expression.

I like it. The Blade Liger pic seems a bit too grainy for my taste, but I love Van's picture in your sig. It's a nice shot of him.

The background is fine, although the word "Blade" looks too blurry and smeared. Other than that, it's good.

Just that the blur, although intentional, doesn't really seem like a good idea to me.

Oh okay. Well you're right that it is a blur, but the blur actually creates a border-ish thingy and brings out the lights & darkens the darks. For example, I took the original layer of Van/Bladey, duplicated it, and blurred the bottom layer, which I also duplicated and desaturated (so it has two blurred layers, one of which is desaturated). Then I added blending changes to the two top layers; usually Overlay works but someotimes it doesn't look good. At any rate, that's about it...the top thing showing up is stlil just the regular unblurred layer....

Another update from that old sig & av set (the Blade Liger & Van one with white bg & those two blue lines).

Oh and one of the somewhat questionable words in there has been approved by Jammer.

EDIT: Changed it to a Zoid I like more than the KW.... I'll change it once more to the Zoid I wanted to begin with, but I need to get the pics for it first.
