Title: Inaccuarate Members list...
Atrophy Within - August 7, 2005 01:22 AM (GMT)
Since the date of July 1, 2005, approximately 51 new members have joined this forum. It is apperant we have not have activity to support the arrival of 51 new members. Many names in the members list have 0 post counts, meaning the member never bothered with the forum, or the member accounts were dismissed, and replaced by an account with a better name.
I was wondering if anyone was going to go through, and delete all the accounts perhaps, as some new members might have enjoyed using a name already taken for a dead account. If anything it would simple lessen or member number, and make it less apparent we have many member accounts which are made, yet never used. It doesn't matter, my point is very futal. I was simply asking if someone was ever going to weed out the dead accounts.
I would offer to do it, but I don't have the priveleges or ability to do such. I'm a perfectionist, and that had always bothered me when I first joined over 2 and a half years ago. :P
Feel free to throw stones at me for being so picky, and making it sound like a big deal, when all reality it is of no importance what so ever.

Whee, I cleared out all the unvalidated accounts and the ones where there are 0 posts and they joined over 60 days ago. That's all I'm messing with for now...

Arg, now it makes the forums seem smaller, going from 240 members, down to 200. *throws stones*
JammerLea - August 7, 2005 07:56 AM (GMT)
Not like they were doing us much good. XD
Remember! It's quality, not quantity that counts! <3

ima good member even if i have a habbit of disappearing every-so-often
ZeRoRaVeN - August 15, 2005 10:02 PM (GMT)
heh I disappeared for a week and I'm back now aren't I?
Anyway, some could be simply using it to read the board, yes I know it's almost certainly not possible. But there is that little possibility, should've emailed or PMed them...but that would've been too much work, so you should've made a nice announcement, and if none of the 0 posters posted, then their account is in the trash. But I know some forums who purposely inflate their user numbers and that is being deceptive.
JammerLea - August 15, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
All the accounts I deleted were never used. You have to verify your account through e-mail in order to access it, but they were never verified. A few... well, something like EIGHT of the accounts I deleted were all ONE person, but not one of them was ever verified. I don't think I have to worry about annoucing the deletment of accounts that were never actually touched.
ZeRoRaVeN - August 16, 2005 12:17 AM (GMT)
oohhh I see...but isn't there some option that automaticaly deletes unvalidated accounts after a period of time?

I'm using IPB 2.0 [unlimited trial] so it might not be present in 1.3
JammerLea - August 16, 2005 02:33 AM (GMT)
I don't remember seeing that, but then I'm still learning the controls of this board. In anycase, it doesn't really matter now.

i come around here and there

The invision board that the Zoids Portal uses is brand new. This board's code is out dated, so I doubt some stuff is automatic.
ZeRoRaVeN - September 22, 2005 11:29 PM (GMT)
Very new....geez I had a hard time finding mods for it..when I installed the forum
http://invisionize.com/ had under 5 skins...it only has 5 now...and now has only 59 mods...
What a conscidence..there's a new version of ipb...2.1.1..must upgrade...
What's with the month old bump?

*attacks and glomps* Meow???
I still think there is too many member accounts that go unused... But I suppose the more accounts, the more appealing the forum will be to a newb. After all, a board with only 50 memebrs is hardly attractive... :P

Isn't there something in the Admin control panel for that?

*presuming you're talking about some kind of unused account purge tool*
Meh not specificily I don't think...but you can probably use the extremely powerful and vertistile task manager to run a command and that should do it..and you can schedule it..but nobody wants to do that...alot of people end up coming back..and even then, for what point? Looking back on old topics then the name would appear as unregistered and what if someone else registeres as them and poses as them...talk about problems...
