Title: Need people's opinions...

Zelos - July 26, 2004 02:53 AM (GMT)
Okay, I was looking through the skin forums in InvisionFree support and found three skins which I really like, I don't know which to use, so I'll let you all choose.

The first two are basiaclly the same, though ones a red version and the other blue. They were made by the member "firefox"

Professional Red
Professional Blue

The next one is a silver themed skin made by the member "Boles Roor" (Who also made another cool skin I'm using for that other board I mentioned, if I ever get started)

Smooth Silver

So, go ahead and vote on which you prefer. Whichever people like most, I will use. And ignore the banners at the top of them, we will have a different one (though I might not be able to make it...)

König Warrior - July 26, 2004 02:55 AM (GMT)
I voted Smooth Silver, it looks the coolest, Professional Blue was ok too though.

Tilly - July 26, 2004 03:12 AM (GMT)
I don't like the red one...and the animation on the silver one drives me nuts. The blue one's okay, but I like the current one more, default as it is.

König Warrior - July 26, 2004 03:13 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I'd like to add that I actually like this current skin fine, I just picked the skin I liked best out of the three, but I would be fine with this.

Zelos - July 26, 2004 03:28 AM (GMT)
Tiily, the animation on the Silver one is the forum banner I believe, those are just preview forums that people posted along with the code. If I gave the code for the skin it wouldn't help people decide :)

Tilly - July 26, 2004 03:36 AM (GMT)
I know...but wouldn't that be on the forums, then?

HaTcH - July 26, 2004 03:41 AM (GMT)
I picked Smooth silver, the angley top thing though that has to be changed, you can edit files right? Question, is that made by thing at the top of it on the skin But pro blue was good.

Zelos - July 26, 2004 03:45 AM (GMT)
Tiily/Hatch: No, you can change the forum banner, as well as any other image you want on InvisionFree. It's not as restricting as you guys are acting like. I can change almost anything, heck, if I didn't mind about the board being deleted, I might be able to remove that ad at the top!

Hatch: Yes, the Made by is part of the skin, I could try removing it from the CSS (which I have NO experiance with...) but he deserves credit for the skin anyways.

JammerLea - July 26, 2004 03:47 AM (GMT)
I don't care for red, the blue is rather plain, the silver is just...so cool it's cold. x_o I think I like the default best for now.

HaTcH - July 26, 2004 03:50 AM (GMT)
I doubt theres a title in the css file, css doesn't work that way.
Well I would not remove the signature, Id move it to the bottom of the board. It doesn't quite fit there at the top.

Zelos - July 26, 2004 03:52 AM (GMT)
Actually, on my other (test) boards, I used a skin by this guy and once removed the Made by thing. I put it back though as I felt kind of guilty for modifying the skin, that's just the way I am.

EDIT: Ahh, I see what he did, this is the Made by part on a different skin by him,

CODE
</style><center>Skin Name By <b>Boles Roor</b> of the <b><a href="http://xtremedesignzer.net" target="_blank">Xtremedesignz</a></b>.</center><style type='text/css'></style>

He closed the Style sheet first before adding the Made by part.

Silverliger - July 26, 2004 03:55 AM (GMT)
I like how it is right know. I'm still trying to get use to it and getting around the forum.

HaTcH - July 26, 2004 03:59 AM (GMT)
actually that code looks extrememly cheesy, probably computer generated.. all style information is contained in one stylesheet. Thats the neatest way.

(just check the code at any file at the union)

Zelos - July 26, 2004 04:05 AM (GMT)
May be so, but does it matter? Anyways, well, I shall make my decison tomorrow on the skin based off votes and members comments.

Sephiroth - July 26, 2004 04:06 AM (GMT)
Silver and default are fine with me, blue is OK but it looks weird to me, and i just dont like the color red o.o.

Wolf Kokoro - July 26, 2004 04:10 AM (GMT)
Any color is fine with me. Just as long as it's not yellow! x_x I like blue better because it's my favorite color.

Colodie - July 26, 2004 04:11 AM (GMT)
I like the default the best. Professional Blue and Red stand out a bit to much, while the silver seems to blend in with the background.

Capitila - July 26, 2004 06:46 AM (GMT)
I don't really like any of them... Default is fine with me.

Although I think it looks more proffesional with a more custom skin, none of those really appeal to me.

Laerza - July 26, 2004 09:21 AM (GMT)
Smooth Silver.Either that or the default. Both look nice.

Why isn't there any purple?

Shadow Tigress - July 26, 2004 01:10 PM (GMT)
I like the default as well, just let it stay the way as it is now. The red, didn't look right. The blue, a little better but no cigar. The silver...made my head hurt just by looking at it...I just woke up so that could be the reason why...early morning web surfing...meh. x_X

Zinou - July 26, 2004 04:41 PM (GMT)
The silver is too cramped, and the red is fugly. The blue is OK, so I voted it. But I can live with the default skin.

Zelos - July 26, 2004 04:46 PM (GMT)
You guys have no sense of style, I think the silver one would work great for ZE, as when I think of ZE I immagine gray and silver. And I don't see how it's cramped, you've got to realize that that preivew forum has only one forum anyways, so of course it would look cramped.

I just think that the boards look kind of plain with just the default skin. There's nothing to make it stand out, to seperate it from the flood of other generic boards out there.

Well, I guess I should get back to work on the RPG, I'm currently working on the member only forums with the other ones done but hidden, and lacking rules as of now.

*agrees with Zelos*

Kirbymaster212 - July 26, 2004 05:38 PM (GMT)
default, sivler, or blue. The silver did look kind of... metaly... so that would kinda go with zoids o.O i think...

Unabhängiger Wolf - July 26, 2004 08:37 PM (GMT)
I personallly think all three skins look hideous in their own way. As much as I love the colour blue, the default skin is perfectly fine. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Wolven Zero - July 30, 2004 08:28 PM (GMT)
I have to agree with Freelance Wolf. However, if I recall correctly, IF allows multiple skins to be used on the same board, just like IPB does.

But that would result in too much code fiddling for like the news box.

I chose the Pro' Blue because blue is my favourite colour right now. However, the Pro' skins also have an advantage over the Silver one because of the layout is simple, and doesn't use complicated coding or images. This would make it easier to change the header image for instance.

Sir Maverick - July 30, 2004 08:41 PM (GMT)
I didn't like either of the Pro Skins, though I can't quite place my finger on why. I voted the silver one because it was the best of the three, but I like our default myself.

Himawari - July 31, 2004 02:33 AM (GMT)
The Professional Red and the Professional Blue looked similar to me. I really liked the Smooth Silver one..

DueroTycoon - July 31, 2004 03:33 AM (GMT)
I like the red one. It may stand out a lot, but it's not hard on the eyes. It's also organized a little bit better than the others. I think Ramirez agrees with me too.

That's coming from a dude who's working with a professional web design company right now as a programmer. I really wouldn't care too much for the others.

If only people thought like that *points to leena's gunsniper*

I say silver, again, because i dont wnt this to become spam so that is why i am posting this extra part that you probably shouldve ignored.

Professional programmers don't exactly deal too much with the layout of sites, if at all. So colour wise in oppinion a programmer wouldn't really be a notch above the rest, that's where graphic designers come in.

Sky Dragon - July 31, 2004 08:29 PM (GMT)
I voted Pro Blue, but in retrospect I prefer Smooth Silver.

so, SMOOTH SILVER's my vote.

The Zombie - July 31, 2004 11:27 PM (GMT)
I like the sivler. It makes the board look like it is mechanized which would match the subject matter.

Thats my opinion though...

Sir Maverick - July 31, 2004 11:29 PM (GMT)
Well, I still think it should be silver, but it's cut pretty close. I'll tell you one thing, it sure as heck ain't gonna be red.

Schatten - August 1, 2004 12:24 AM (GMT)
I went for Silver it looked sweet ^^. Blue is nice, but don't think about using the red one.*shudders*

Dude... I also used to design entire web sites, I just prefer programming over the rest.

Anyways, red still stands in my opinion. Asked a few more web design friends and they said red too.

BIGPHISHOWNSYOU - August 1, 2004 03:04 AM (GMT)
Red or silver..everything else is just to traditional.

Drk-X - August 1, 2004 04:03 AM (GMT)
red can get very tiring on the eyes if you stare at it too long (like i did once........hey, the page told me to do it :P )

of the three i like the silver but if i had it my way...id pick the one that i chose for the forum that im creating...

http://www.otaku-universe.com/~kotobuki/forum/

that's my idea of a skin.....(which reminds me, i need to finish my forum and start inviting members that arent staff...)

of course if you choose it youre doomed to the white stuff surrounding the smilies.....

TheBlackCat - August 1, 2004 04:31 AM (GMT)
I picked blue because I didn't like the designs on silver. Since the designs can be changed, I would like to change to silver since I like the color better.

DueroTycoon - August 1, 2004 05:27 PM (GMT)
If silver is chosen, I also want the choice of being able to see the regulat IPB skin, because the silver is just too hard on my eyes after staring at the computer alll day long.
