Title: Host site

PlushRayseTiger - August 26, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know where I can find a host for video files and post them like photobucket allows me?

Nobody's gonna do something like that, videos take up space and bandwith, in order for a free site to work they must make more money than is lost, usually though advertising or donations, videos are too costly...get regular web hosting for that...and even then read the terms and agreemtns some providers don't like you putting more than a percentage of files that are sounds/videos on your account..

I found something like what I want, but you have to log in to access the video. Hmm... better keep searching.

Ya you'll most likely have to do that. I recommend this place. It's what I use.

What a confusing website...I've been there before but it looks too much of a hassle to use...besides I've got excessive bandwith (4% used -_- ) hmm they use the easy file sharing script..I'll probably use that for myself..invision has a file manager too...

You know if it's only a few files and not illegal I coud host it for you...

PutFile- 10MB limit, must link to media, easy to use, no registration necessary.

iHud- 50MB limit, must link to media, media must be downloaded (can't stream), no registration required.

Rapid Share- 50MB limit, must link to media, media must be downloaded (can't stream), limited download amount hourly (not sure about upload), no registration required for basic use.

If you want people to stream the stuff, you're only choice is Putfile. If you don't mind not being able to stream iHud is very good. Rapid Share I would only use as a last resort as it's pretty much inferior to iHud in every way. Some people's IPs are even blocked from Rapid Share.

How big are they? If they're movies taken with a digital camera, you can get them really small with something like the DivX/Xvid codec and virtualdub, or even Windows Movie Maker. They should be easier to find a home for then.

Rapid Share is widely used but not very...reliablish...there's also yousendit.com...

It's ok...but Tilly's right if its something like .avi you can turn it into something really tiny..mpeg works too..other formats work too...
