H-soft presents...
TextGen3 is the third rewrite of my gallery page generation algorithm. While TextGen2 was an improvement in code efficiency versus version 1, version 3 was almost 90% recoded from scratch, adding countless features and GUI enhancements. While the main window may look similar to past versions of the program, the Preferences have been wildly revised.
Here is a screenshot:
Getting TextGen3Simply download the file at the following link, and extract the contents to a temporary folder.

some use for it.
Why upgrade?Well I've been asked by a few users that it would be nice if the generated pages were more customizable. TextGen3 was redone to accommodate just that. You are now able to choose what type of alternate text is added to the images, you can change the extension of the pages created (good for php users), you can fully customize the previous/next buttons, and even choose to not have them, same goes for the jumpbox. The most impressive feature however is the ability to now generate thumbnail images for your files.
New Installation System To facilitate faster and easier use (and not to mention higher compatibility), I packaged TextGen into an installing program. Now you will be able to navigate through your start menu and run TextGen from its default home in Program Files.
Getting HelpOne of the final steps to the next generation of TextGen was the massive help file documenting every visual (and sometimes hidden) features of the program. Details for the operation and examples are there to help the user.
PrivacyAs with any software I release, TextGen3 will never collect information from your or your computer system. It will never secretly connect to the internet, and is completely free. TextGen started as a program I wrote to make it easier for me to update my website, and I think that every webmaster should be able to get their hands on this software for nothing. No ads, no bundled software, no B.S. Use of the program is governed by the included license.txt file which is simply a verbatim copy of the GNU public license.
Bugs? Issues? Comments? If you do find something wrong with TextGen (hey, I'm only human), please post about it here, or email the address specified in the about section of the program. Be sure to include exact details of what you did.
This was probably my biggest single undertaking when it comes to software programming, using nearly every skill I've learned over my 4 years of Visual Basic experience. Special thanks to the
FreeImage Project for their GIF, JPG, PNG, and BMP libraries.
I will post any updates here.
