Title: 9/11 memorial
Description: Just a little memorial...
ZeRoRaVeN - September 11, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
This is a memorial to 9/11, please I know there will be someone who will probably get this topic shut closed because of talking about inappropriate stuff..but for now let us not forget what occurred 4 years ago. May those who died on that day rest in peace.
Yes, I remember that day it happened...I was in class when the principle burst in an said "the twin towers have been hit" and we got out the TV and everything...*sigh*
K-62 - September 11, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
I remeber too, it was lunch time and I was at the store buying a drink They had a TV on and all of a sudden this lady start screaming.
Well any way, people should stop talking about this all the time good or bad its been like 5 years. Why didnt anyone start a 'OMG look what happened to New Orleans' thread? It was more recent news that had more death and destruction.
JammerLea - September 11, 2005 10:10 PM (GMT)
It's funny... The bit of attachment I have to New Orleans is because of 9/11. One of my best friend's dad was in the Marines and got relocated to a naval base in New Orleans after 9/11. My friend and I went to visit him for Spring Break in 2002 (he's back home now though). I can't believe that some of the places I went to might not even exist now... I wanted to go back there too... There was a certain restaurant I wanted to get more pizza at. *sigh*
Even so, that doesn't mean we should forget about 9/11, it's part of our history now afterall. I think at this time there's more to it than just tragedy.
No one will ever stop talking about it. It's one of those events where anyone old enough to understand it will not just remember what happened, but where they were and what they were doing when it happened. Just like people who were alive when JFK was shot will remember where they were and what they were doing.
I was in my 3D Design class in college when I overheard some classmates mention what was going on. I couldn't bring myself to watch the TV. Later that day my friend and I went to Big Boy's for dinner with her father, as she was afraid he'd get shipped overseas. We discussed the possibility of war, but even he could not predict how soon it would start.
I don't remember exactly where I was when Katrina hit, but I've been trying to keep up with it news-wise.
Both events make me want to cry.
ZeRoRaVeN - September 11, 2005 10:10 PM (GMT)
So what if it was recent? Are you saying we should ignore this and act like nothing ever happened? What we should all forget about this and go on with our life just because something else more recent occurred? The families of the victims won't look kindly to your comments.
JammerLea - September 11, 2005 10:13 PM (GMT)
Don't argue over the two please. ^^; They're both big tragedies and neither should be ignored.
I was surprised that there never was a topic started here about the hurricane.
ShadowDragon062 - September 11, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
I was going to actually, because I have a friend who also writes InuYasha fanfics like me in Florida... *sigh* I thought someone was going to, but I guess no one did. Sorry. Again, though, yes, may the souls of those involved in the 9/11 attacks rest in pease.

Me too...*goes start one* but I think that both events will hold a huge importance in our lives even as years pass on...these are one of those things...like pearl harbor...
ShadowDragon062 - September 11, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
Don't forget the most recent one... Hurricane Katrina... That was also sad. I feel really bad for those people, they have to live in practically a sewage dump thanks to the hurricane. We should also start one for that too. *shakes head sideways* So many disastors...

*b****-slaps K-62*
And why not Hiroshima and Nagasaki, while you're at it? Sale connard! Va te faire anculer.
There is a fundamental difference between the deaths caused by a massive hurricane to a town below sea level, and mass murder.
Don't misunderstand me here, I am not belittling what happened, in New Orleans.
But you can't compare that and what happened in New York and Washington 4yrs ago - it is COMPLETELY different. It's like comparing an Earthquake in San Francisco to the Oklahoma City bombing.
@ShadowDragon062: Katrina is the one K-62's talking about. And again, there is NO comparison to be made.
Like December Seventh and November Twenty-Second, September Eleventh is a date that will never be forgotten.
Ill always remember that day - where I was, what I felt...and, when the name of the pig responsible for it became known, how badly I wanted to strangle the Saudi b*****d.
My neigbor, and a very good friend of mine, is a retired Captain of the US Navy, Annapolis Class of '85. He had a classmate, and a very close friend of his, who went on to pilot airliners.
He was the pilot of the Flight that was slammed into the Pentagon that morning.
----------------------
As for the Hurricane...suffice it to say this: there was nothing we could have done to stop it. But I'm gonna have some serious problems with ANYONE not helping with the Relief effort in every way they can.
ZeRoRaVeN - September 11, 2005 11:26 PM (GMT)
I'm very sorry to hear that....to have someone who you know..that was the pilot of one of the planes...and of all the people...to be the pilot...I can't imagine what actually happened on that plane...
Tonight though discovery ch, 9 PM is going to have a show on what happened on the plane that was supposed to crash into a building but instead crashed into the ground...the passengers appranently took back control...
MrGuy - September 11, 2005 11:34 PM (GMT)
Speaking of 9/11, there's a movie on Discovery tonight at 9pm EST based off the flight where the passengers fought the terrorists. Should be an interesting thing to watch.
*edit* Oh yeah, Zero said it... right before me XD
ShadowDragon062 - September 11, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
My bad, I thought he meant like Charely, or one of the older ones. I thought Katrina hit like Lousiana, not Florida... all well. I talked with my friend... she's ok! Bad news, heavy rain, which sucks. I am sorry for your neightbor's friend, and hope he is ok. Again, though we should not be mean about the 9/11 situation. Lives were taken from us as we were having school, or our jobs. Some even fought on the plane to save more lives, and in their memories, I dedicate this post... to all those people, on 9/11.

And(again, without meaning to sound rude) that is where New Orleans is located, is it not?
As for the Third Plane, well I'm not sure, but I do seem to recall someone saying that the odds are, it was gonna be for the White House...it'd make sense - Hit the main economic (WTC), military (Pentagon), and political(White House) targets.
Either way, these guys fought back. Which is pretty kickass. But anyways...
And hey, thanks everyone for the feedback - I mean, I felt like s***t when he told me that, and I just didn't know what to say...But yeah, I imagine my neighbor's okay...He's a tough guy.
But still...we can't forget about all those who couldn't fight back...It was too sudden, they couldn't do anything...And now, for some reason, I find I can not listen to the song New York Minute without remembering what happened...
SeraPhoenix - September 12, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
*gets all teary eyed*
One of the passengers who took back control of the plane was a man from my town. He had a wife and a newborn child. The wife was the gymnastics coach for the team I was on. While I didn't know her as well as some of the older members because she quit the year before I joined, she still showed up to some of our practices and meets.
...I had forgotten that fact until MrGuy said it would be shown on the discovery channel and now I feel really bad about it, and everything about 9/11..I hope his little girl grows up to be happy and proud of her father.
Edit: Darn, it's already the 12th, I missed it...does anyone know if it'll be on again...I guess I feel somewhat obligated to watch it.
Fury OD - September 12, 2005 08:55 PM (GMT)

Blade - September 14, 2005 12:36 PM (GMT)
Wow...how can I forget.
I was in 7th grade in my Spanish class. It was like 9 AM and the announcements came on. The principal didn't say much except that it was a tragedy...absolutely no details, not even what the event was.
It wasn't until around 11 AM that I found out on the news in my Social Studies teacher's class what had happened.
The irony was that I had only been in the US for a little over a year. Funniest of all was that I had no idea what the big fuss was about. It wasn't until later on that I'd get why it was a big deal :\
At any rate, I posted this late but I gave my little moment of silence that day.
ZeRoRaVeN - September 14, 2005 09:02 PM (GMT)
*nods* I remember school was canceled the next day and we spent the rest of the school day watching TV....
I have 2 or 3 copies of the New York Times dated September 12 2001 mint, the packing bag isn't even opened...on the front cover of course the headlines is the twin towers have been hit..I am keeping that newspaper forever as a reminder...I want to be able to look back on that day and one day...open one of the newspapers and read it...that's my memorial...
Blade - September 14, 2005 09:09 PM (GMT)
Ah lucky you..school cancellation....
I just won't forget that day because that was the day when I started to become less and less naive about world....
