It's missing something:

A border.

I don't know how GIMP works, but try to make a layer on top of the whole image, Select All, Edit > Stroke, center, 1 pixel, any color. It might be that way...nto sure. Ask Tilly for more or GIMP or go to a site that has pics of the GIMP system and shows you how to do it.

Other than that I think it's fine. I'm used to flashy-looking backgrounds so sometimes simple is great.

I was mad I couldn't get the background right, so this worked in my favor, if only the board wasn't an offwhite color. It would be neat to have a transparent sig and AV. Oh well... On my computer you can only tell the difference if you look at the monitor a certain way. :P

I don't know if you've seen one my older banners, but it was plain white with a couple of pics of on it and some sexy lines :P

Yes, that was it.

Transparent? No background layer (so it's checked in that "I am transparent" way), merge visible layers so you get one, still transparent, then save as png. In browsers other than IE (not counting 7), it'll fade into any background you lay it on.

Stick with making it a .gif. File > Save As > Save Type As Compuserve (.gif). That might kill some colors, but I doubt it since you're using solid colors. Plus it'll work on all browsers.

Why not create amatching set and add the Shieldy or the Fox on the avatar (one or the other)?

I fixed the lines for now... I'm gonna do that, and use one of the Zoids for a matching AV... gah, another 5 minutes, and then maybe I'll be done. :P

I'm wokring on another set right now as we speak. I already have the hardest part, the background, done and am working on the background for one of the two Zoids I'll have on there. For a preview, they'll be Brastle and Rayse Tiger. They're somewhat rivals, right?

Other than aimlessly trying to figure out the tools for hours with no results? Yes, first time accually doing something, since this is the first time it ever installed properly so I could save things, or use it right.

Looks good to me my dear. Although I am quite partial to PS, GIMP has its uses. I mainly used it to color all the manga I had on my old computer. What kind of Manga? Well, thats kinda... restricted if you know what I mean. But there was alot of Gundam manga involved...

Don't blame you Blade. I like IE better... Firefox requires you to download Macromedia Flash Player to view certain things... Why I never kept FF on my old computer.

Tilly needs taaaaaaabs. And transparent pngs rock. I've heard IE 7 will (FINALLY) support them, at least.

Now, if you want odd, I prefer WMP to Winamp. Every time I try using the latter it drives me bonkers, and the version I got doesn't like stuff titled in Japanese, which eats bits of my playlist. Grr.

Not to mention I have a bit of an...obsession...with the play count feature in WMP.
