Title: And the new James Bond is...

... Daniel Craig. If you're not familiar with the name he's recently starred in Matthew Vaughn's drug epic, "Layer Cake" and he delivered a surprisingly stoic and impressive preformance. I just hope I can shake my image of James Bond as a cocaine cutter now.
What do you think they are going to do with the Bond series now? I can't see it possibly going too much further, and I think the fact that they make the bond selection such a big deal is a symbol of how antiquated and sanctimonious the franchise has become. Still, the latest embarkation by the director of Goldeneye looks promising, as I think Goldeneye is my personal favorite Bond film (it's one of the few movies that kicked my *** before the opening credits). Daniel Craig is an interesting choice too, as he seems to have more of a devasting darkness in his acting that would lend itself well to an assassin like Bond.
Your thoughts?

Well, he's gotta be better than Colin Farrell or prettyboy Bloom. McGregor...i can't see McGregor pulling off Bond either
My favorite of the Brosnan Bonds were GoldenEye and Die Another Day.
BUT my all-time favorite bond was Timothy Dalton.
My LEAST fave was Roger Moore
Daniel Craig...hope he dyes his hair. Blond Bond is kinda awkward...
"My name is Blond. James Blond." :P
COMPLETELY off-topic, but speaking of blond...I just noticed that both the characters in my sig/avie, SEED Destiny's Stellar Loussier and Rey Za Burrel, are blond, and dead. =(

I reckon Hugh Jackman would've been a good James Bond, and even though I absolutely love Orlando Bloom, I just can't think of him as 007

Hugh Jackman...I dunno, but I can't see him pulling off Bond.
I would like to see him do it, but that's one of those "hafta-see-it-to-believe-it" kinds of things...Like Brad Pitt as Achilles.
However, he doth rock (Hugh Jackman)
And yeah, Bloom's...no. Way too young. Maybe in another fifteen or twenty years. At least.
The reason they haven't stopped making Bond movies is that there are still a few of the Ian Fleming books that haven't been done.

The reason they haven't stopped making Bond movies is because Bond movies haven't yet stopped making money.
It's *got* to be the longest running movie franchise ever, and shows no sign of stopping except for Moonraker and Die Another Day.
If the series can survive those two movies, it could survive an Orlando Bloom Bond. Barely, but it'd make it.

I don't know... When it comes to modern Bond, Pierce Brosnan was the man. It'll be a difficult feat to fill his shoes...
Why can't they sign Brosnan for the job?
But nobody was better than Sean Connery IMO. He was the man.

From what I have read, he was willing to take the part but they didn't want hime to play 007 anymore... It's a shame really.

Yeah it sure is. He had like that "I'm the man, ohhh right" kinda grin. It was perfect for the character James Bond.
Even his voice was good for the part.
