Title: WYSIWYG forum
Description: Because the plush is lazy...

Does anyone know of a free forum that requires no downloads and uses WYSIWYG? Staring at HTML gives me headachesuser posted image and, well, I'm not doing anything fancy. Thanks in advance.

Heh WYSIWYG doesn't seem to work well with firefox 1.5, strange, on the other note IPB is not going to have it, because 1.3 doesn't have it, and the newest IPB has, but it costs money, though I have the trial, it needs to be downloaded and run on a web hosting account with MySQL and php which not everyone has. I do of course, being that I pay.
:D

Personally despite all of WYSIWYG's usefullness I don't like it, I always accidently click buttons when I post and since WYSIWYG is a editor, it isn't saved as a form is. IPB and phpbb is out of the list, they both don't have, vbulletin's newer versions has, but I'm not so sure what versions the free forum hosts are offering so you may or may not get it, your best bet is searching for a free forum host with vbulletin. But they're kinda rare.

Besides, I have yet to see a forum (though I'm certain they exist) that allows HTML posting, its just too dangerous.

What're you trying to set up?

I'd say the closest you'd get would be invisionfree/proboards and the like...I don't think they require much HTML knowledge to customize.

I am reminded I need to get to work on an evil project involving phpBB, though...

ZeroRaven, you must buy a licence to get any version of IPB now, unless you got it before the licencing came out.
IPB v2.1 has WYSIWYG which can optionally be switched off.

I'm quite aware Wolven Zero, I keep myself up to date with the IPB community. Too bad they've been devoid of alot of mods lately....invisionize has been really inactive...

Plush, were you talking about WYSIWYG in posting? I don't see how you can really use WYSIWYG effectivily with board customization. HTML is the only way to go, unless you use one of those skin AIO generators.

All I want to do is to change the colors easy without all the color numbers.

Plush asked for a free forum, so I addressed it for free forums, there is no free forum service out there that runs IPB 2 which is why I said IPB is not going to have, because 1.3 doesn't have it, meaning I was referring to free forum hosts running IPB 1.3.

I don't see why you can't just enter the numbers...

an example of a colorchart And there are plenty of charts like this online.

I don't know any free forum that has a WYSIWYG interface.

JammerLea - December 9, 2005 09:24 AM (GMT)
Proboards actually has a drop down color chart so you can just click on the color you want. =D

But yes, color charts are a good thing to be familiar with. ^^

I made a little somethin on proboards. Too bad I can't use my custom smilies and buttons... Well, beggars can't be choosers. :) to the max.
