So, anyone else here have a Neopets account? I know some people have an intense raging loathing of Neopets, so if you happen to be one of those people, please either don't post or be considerate in your posts and don't flame.

I've been hopping in and out (mostly out) for three or four or so years now (I can faintly remember all the way back to when the original Maraqua was around and there was no such thing as the Battledome.) and just about five days ago made yet another new account.

Interesting story, actually. As you may or may not know, on November 30th a new Neopet was released, the Xweetok. For some reason, I had a strange calling to visit the site on that day, and instantly adored Xweetoks because they're just to damn cute... So I waited until the next day (December 1st is such a better date then November 30th) and off I went.

In this time I have transferred all the items and money from my old accounts to my new one (using the trading post), set up a small shop, sold anything of remote value, made around 80k in that way, and am now putting my vast fortune (to a newbie at least) to good use in buying codestones to train Zethro (my Xweetok). I also bought some good and cheap equipment for him (there's an odd lack of quality equipment between the 10k and 2mil price ranges...) and am, overall, doing far better off in these few days then I have in any amount of years before.

my account name is shrike_f if anyone is interested. My sole pet's name is zethro1 though I really wish I didn't have to use that 1, the first Zethro isn't even active, for crying out loud...

My previous account was "jammerlea" my new one is "younggrasseater." I've been slightly obsessing over Neopets lately because I have a couple friends who work there. XD They're so funny, I love them!

They both had ideas for advent calendar animations approved, but I've been like, "OMG WHUT DAY" cuz I want to see. One's about giving the Swamp Witch a gift the other... oh crap, I forgot it. NOOO!!!

I've mostly been using my younggrasseater account recently... I'm addicted to Twisty Text and Sutek's Tomb. XD;

To me it looks like a cross between a chipmunk and a lion :D It's just to furry and CUTE though!

Hmm, and I think most people here know that I am no longer subject to ads, so, all I have to say is no one start another debate on the morality of blocking ads <_<

OMG. "Pete's" idea played today! It's sooo cute! The animators did a nice job... I think it's my favorite one so far from this year's advent calendar. X3

Neopets SUCK. They used to be good, but now. UGH.

PowerPets ROCK. It's not as nice looking, but it's nicer, the staff are friendlier, and they actually have a mission to inform people about real life animals, cruelty of people to animals, and whatever. There's actually a storyline integrated into the game too, so you can set goals for yourself. It also has a lot less ads (if any at all) :3

Ew, neopets. I used to play about 8 years ago, had fun while it lasted, it just got too big for my liking.
Now the loathing has set in I think, rather play something more interactive.

I'm aware, but it's thanks to people like me who don't block the ads so the companies earn money so people like you can enjoy the services. Besides, I've never been really bothered by ads, except for pop-ups, I hate pop-ups.

Neopets never held my interest for very long.
I remember the pre-battledome days and I had one Aisha that I let die.. or "dying" as it is in Neopets.
I do get a little annoyed with Neopets because it's a bit too cutesy for me.
I tried to open up an account recently, but as soon as I opened the account I lost interest. XD I don't think I'm cut out for it.

On the bad staff, I don't see why if someplace has some staff members who aren't so great it's so bad and would force you to leave (keep in mind I never have, and most likely never will, have to contact the Neopets staff). If everyone were to leave a place because of bad government, the US would be a baren wasteland. If you don't like the staff, just try not to bother them.

Now, one thing that DOES annoy me about Neopets is the blatent sponser product placement. Fortunatly, I'm able to ignore most sponser items as really the only way to get them is through buying them at their official shop (and I never use any of the official shops) or through a user's shop (while I always buy from these, I just use the shop wizard to find what I need and ignore anything else in the shop besides what I'm looking for, which is never a sponser item). The sponser games I can just scroll past in the games list; so unless I happen to get some massive, full screen popup that Firefox's popup blocker doesn't block (which I never have had, but you never know) I tend to not even notice the sponsers unless I'm actually trying to (or exploring the more hidden pages of the site, which includes some pages dedicated to sponsers.)

ZeRoRaVeN: Check the pet stats, the Shoyru is still the most popular. Funny thing about Shoyru's, I actually stalk the person who made it in the first place's (and then entered it into a competition and sold the rights to it to the Neopets team) Deviantart account. If you're interested their deviantart name is "Ledah" without the quotes.

Asjhdgfhgrfgdfjhgh. That "Shoryu" thingy kindasorta resembles one of my Kreatures, "Zictroe"...

I didn't leave NeoPets cause of staffers. I left because they got too big and commercialized. They changed all the games I was good at and made them worse.

I just realized, even though I have nothing against the staff, the game I'm best at is Whack a Staff member... Swarm (the featured game today) is also quite fun, it's pretty much a Space Invaders clone Because of the double NP wins from it I easily got 2000 NP in one play.

Hmm, I should play Whack a Staff member more because as it is I'm only about 600 points away from the top 100...

No, no one is stupid for liking Neopets. That's not my point. It's just frustrating that after I said I have friends who WORK at Neopets, you more-or-less insult them. I'm not going to say that everyone at Neopets is an angel, but I don't appreciate my friends being lumped in with brainless people, because they are not. Believe me, if you saw some of the e-mails Neopets employees got from users EVERYDAY you would understand why they may not be as friendly as Powerpets employees. However, I am NOT trying to stand up for Neopets, I'm standing up for my friends.

I agree about the commericialization and games, to an extent anyways. I guess they only have one main game programmer, so... yow. I like that Neopets has tangable merchandise now, but I hate that it's so expensive and EXCLUSIVE.

Anyway, I used to be a big fan of neopets, making a new account or so every couple of years. My oldest, dragonwingscc is about 5 years old I thiiiiink... I haven't checked in a while. But yeah, it just got to be too big, and they kept changing the way all my favorite pets looked. Making them more... cute-sy.

You're one of those people I find that they lack common sense. For example this other day another guy just like you at Invision Power Services forum who make IPB, he he makes a topic and asks how he can get a copy and host the IPB 2 for people for free with 1 license. The answer was no of course, but then the idiot went and asked if anybody from the staff could help him find a loophole in the license, I was like wtf you're like asking the IPS employees to help you obtain their products for free.

Once upon a time when neopets was much smaller and wasn't so complicated and big it was a nice place to be. I kinda enjoyed my time somewhat, but then they just kept on adding more and more and thus it was their downfall. Keep it simple, users put up with only so much.
