Title: An Event Monitor?
Description: ...
Blade Liger Mirage - December 17, 2005 02:39 PM (GMT)
Sitting at my computer today, I notice this curved, yellow, telephone/arrow thing. When I click it, it says it's an Event Monitor. But the thing is, yesterday, I was forced to watch one of those stupid "Online Predators" shows. This Event Monitor was never on my toolbar before, but after that show, it somehow appeared.
I'm hoping it's not one of those downloads that tells parents of what I'm doing on the computer. So is it something else? Hopefully I can hack it away. n_n

If you are using a PC, try going to the start menu, run, and type in msconfig.
select the checkbox "selective startup" and then go to the farthest right tab. It should be like a list of programs. Look for either an exe name or a description that has something like event monitor. Un check its box and restart. It should be disappeared. :P

Be aware, it might still be installed;
In Windows 9x: Open control panel, goto Add/remove Programs.
In Windows XP: Open control panel, goto Add or Remove Programs.
Search for it, if you find it, uninstall it.

Don't forget the chance it's a spyware/adware program, it sure won't show up. Get microsoft antispyware, or if you already have a antispyware program scan your computer.

Run Linux, password protect everything.
Safety from parents should be your most important priority on the internet.

Oh I'm sure all of us have the ability to run linux and password protect files easily and with no suspcion from our parents.
Ha I've learned to get around all my parent's restrictions, it's so easy...

That would be my mom, my dad on the other hand....well he's very proficient...zero! The D drive has less than 10% of space! (note he told me that today)
zero! The drive is heavily fragmented! zero! I found viruses on the computer! zero! There's spyware on this computer, how am I supposed to do my banking!
Most of the time it is kinda fault..XD...oh well...life with a computer-proficent dad.

No kidding.
Hooray for University networks monitored by easily blinded Clean Access programs!
My mother thought MS Word was an operating system two weeks ago.
She's one of those people who knows how to use the system, but hasn't the faintest idea how it works or how to fix it when things go wrong.
My father however, knows how to use the system and fix it. But isn't so hot when it comes to making intelligent computer-purchasing decisions. He's terrible at finding good deals. Absolutely terrible.
But yeah, if you use firefox there are probably plugins to get around monitor software.
Maybe.
