Title: Your favorite 2-D Game
PlushRayseTiger - December 28, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)
3-D has taken over the world, but most 2-D games are better than thier fancy counterparts. Anyway, my favorites are: Tetris, Super Mario Land, Super Mario World, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. :D

I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
>_>
Prince of Persia and Commander Keen, loved them as a kid and I still do. Alex the kidd, Super Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong would be among my favs too.

Are you talking about just platformers? If not then Final Fantasy III(IV jp) owns all.
Dranxis - December 28, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
I will always love the original Donkey Kong myself. Though the Mario games, and the original Yoshi's Island, deserve honorable mention. XD

Pong.
Nothing is cooler then a square ball. ^_^
Super Mario Land is cool too, tho.

I'll always be a mario fan...Super Mario rules them all..

Everyone seems to have forgotten the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past...
Capitila - December 30, 2005 08:23 AM (GMT)
Ah, I choose to not remember that. Zelda, ew.
Blade Liger Mirage - December 30, 2005 01:18 PM (GMT)
Ugh, I had a Link to the Past. But I never beat it. I just liked being killed by the chickens. That was pretty funny. ;D

Zelda: A Link to The Past, Super Mario World, Contra 3: Alien Wars, Star Fox (I guess it's not really counted), Contra...all these were awesome games, and they still are.
There's probably a lot more games I missed.
Aardwulf - December 30, 2005 06:10 PM (GMT)
Oh, let's see...
Below the Root, Treasure Island, Wolf, Dino Eggs, Popeye, Tass Times in Tonetown and Movie Monster Game for the C64; Maniac Mansion, Kid Icarus, Mega Man, Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, Defenders of Dynatron City and Where In Time is Carmen Sandiego on the NES; The Lion King and Samurai Shodown for Sega Genesis; and on the GBA, Fire Emblem and Zoids Legacy. Tetris and Bust-A-Move are a ton of fun too, of course. And I liked playing Donkey Kong Country on my friend's Super Nintendo, but I think that counts as 3D, so.
I also loved Mickey's Space Adventure on the Commodore (SHUT UP I was like four years old), but I was sort of ashamed to mention it with all the other games that I actually still think are kinda cool.
There are probably tons more that I forgot...I'm pretty sure most people have never even heard of the C64 games and half the ones I mentioned were shareware. Yay for obscure games! How I miss them...

Oh, how silly of me. I forgot all about the classic PC games I've enjoyed that were 2-D, such as 99% of the adventure games from LucasArts. I swear, they have the voice acting in their stuff.
I also loved stuff from the works of Sierra and other odds and ends such as Alley Cat and Summer Games. Maxis had fun games too, like the SimCity series and Sim Ant. Wolf from Sanctuary Woods was great as well. Playing as a wolf is fun. I had fun with the VIC-20 as well. I bet lots of you have never heard of this 'game' console.

I have SimCity 3000, it was fun, and I played the SimAnt on my win95 laptop! It wouldn't work on this computer...
Simant was an interesting concept, you control the ants and all, except the game felt a bit short, even with the full game it was difficult to micromanage because of the size of the ant nests you managed, it was difficult, I had to keep on switching from dozens of different nests to battle the red ants. And you could be battling them from lots of different nest games...fun..but felt too short..and simple...

Sim Ant! Oh, how I loved that game when I was a kid... I particularly liked turning into the Spider. Amusing how it was able to shoot lasers on occasion. XD
I think there's a version of Simant for the Super Nintendo as well... I remember playing it. Ahh, nostalgia.
As for favourite 2-D games? Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island all deserve honerable mention. My favourite 2D fighting game is Primal Rage. Like Mortal Kombat, only with DINOSAURS! And dinosaurs make everything better.

Tetris. I LIKE TETRIS.
Wait, does Pokemon count?
