Several members have sigs that seem too large, or last I checked, far exceeded the limit. I dunno if anything has change, but its a pain when it stretches the screen, or I have to scroll past huge pictures of random screenshots, or sloppy sigs. Just nothing that, as it is annoying... :)

Yes, the preferred size of an image is around 200px tall, but if its necessary to preserve aspect ratio or somehing, a leeway of around 2 dozen (24) pixels is awarded. However, we haven't decided on a max length. As I use a screen resolution of 1280x1024 I don't have any problems with anyones' sigs.

So I'd say that a global width limit of 550px, but that is not official.

I know Steve's is way over the limit...

I am speaking of image-wise, along with long pointless text love. An image that is within the boundaries, and text that follows it that has a purpose and says what needs to be said short and sweetly isn't a problem. Not everyone likes to place just an image in their signature, some like to put a little more into it like myself and others do, and not push it past the limit and taste. Besides, if i remember correctly, your signature was at one point longer than mine, so hush :lol:

But there are a few users that do have sigs way over the limit... And some sigs that shouldn't be allowed. Especially if some people would take ofense to them. i remember having to ask Forte to remove something in his sig cause I was offended once before.

Well, its having to scroll to the right thats a real problem. Scrolling down isn't as bad because we normally have to do it anyways. But if the signature is really overly long, thenI understand what the problem is.

I just hate having to scroll past pictures and text. Especially... ugly Sigs. :P yes, there are some UGLY signatures on this board, and the bigger they are, well, yeah.... Not enjoyable to look at, and if they are bigger, ever worse.

I consider this as an insult for the people who aren't able to get Photoshop or a similar powerful program. Heck, in what position are you to judge other people signatures when yours is made by someone else? It doesn't really give you bragging rights or superiority rights at all. At least they put their own effort into their own signature and learning some skills along the way.

There's a fine line between absolute crap and ugly. Keep your comment to yourself unless its neccessary.

If your complaining this much, then I suggest you go to your control panel, board settings, and look for "Do you wish to view members signatures when reading topics?". Select from the dropbox, 'no' and save your settings. No more pain-in-the ass scrolling. Then we're all happy. :D

I do not mind large siga because I am normally one of the ppl to have one of those sigs that is over the size limit. But I could see how t would be annoying to ppl with slower internet connections or small screens.

Anyway, I don't see very many people with sigs that are over the limit. I think everyone has the feel for what is accecptable and what isn't.

You missed the point. Some people know they're not so good or don't have the proper resources to make high quality graphics but telling them that their work is causing your eyes to sore is no way to act. I haven't exactly seen you create a masterpiece. People know I'm one of the most critical people on the boards, you don't see me going around and saying "ewwww, ur sig iz an eyesoar, maek it go away!!!"

1. Have you considered the resources that have? I just mentioned Photoshop because its a superior graphics programs but there are many alternatives that lie under the same level of capability. Skill is another issue. Not everyone has spent their time making works of art, so its logical to show off the effort that they put in so far. 3. Not everyone complies with the rules even with the rules set in authorative motion. I honestly don't care about signature requirements because its such a small forum. I do understand for the people who ride on 56k and small resolutions (monitor/personal issues) as DefaultPeanut pointed out. There's plenty of individuals who have exceeded the limit in the past (including me!), out of everyone else who have the ability to tolerate it... someone actually whinged about it. Especially when there are easy solutions to deal with it. :)

You brought it up, its natural that someone who go against it for whatever reason. However, I think Hetman, and Drkx do have a point. I don't have photoshop, but my sig was made by Blade. I would have made my own sig with MS Paint, it Blade hadn't been so nice to make one for me.

But your topic was mainly concerned about how people do not have sigs within the limits stated in the rules. Why push it over the edge by saying some look ugly?

Uh... not to be off topic, but I've been here only half a year. I only get use to someone if they are on everyday. Not just on once, and then I see them a week later.

Thats all i said when making this thread, and it does have a purpose, cause there are people with sigs that were stretching the creen. Most of them, after the date I posted this topic, have made new sigs, ect. If you ahve a problem with my posts, vote for them to be deleted, or report me.

Don't like my opinions, don't read them, or report them if they are so insensitive. And Fuz's signature doesn't prove anything but his immaturity, and lack of better things to do.

Anyways. I don't see anymore sigs stretching the screen now, so they are either changed, or the owner isn't posting.

I do must say this one more time? Its a message-board. We respond to something we don't like (for whatever reason), isn't that human nature? Besides, my clairvoyance skills aren't that uber nor I poccess a fully developed sixth sense (including the majority of the world and i wished i have a fully developed sixth sense). Reading a post is kinda inevitable unless giving up reading midway (not with short posts) or entirely skip the post. :)

What does it matter really? My sig is HORRID and I like it that way. Everyone else has interesting sigs as well. They say it takes people of all sorts to make up humanity... or a forum community. I mean we got Americans, Asians, Aussies, Brits, Canadians, Fangirls, New Zealanders-- eveyone! Thats why I like it here.
