Title: ZoidseEolution.com domain problem
Description: Details of available options.

Alright, this might get a bit technical, so unless you're not tech-savy, don't read beyond the dotted line.

To sum it up, if duowolf doesn't renew the domain by tommorrow we are left with these options

Also I've been getting delivery failures when I try to send to her email, werid I didn't get any only like 2 days ago.

-We wait one month until the domain is available for public purchase

-We manage to put together $100 and buy it in the following 30 days.

-Duowolf renews it by tommorrow.

-We begin work on the site without the domain.

Please note that I plan to install a CMS, which stands for Conent Management System or a wiki. In constrast to the old ZE because now everyone will be able to contribute. However, if we do get the domain later we'll have to change all the link and etc, although most CMSs let this easily be done, it's not so easy when you're the one posting the links and no HaTcH's replace this will proabably not work since they are stored as information in a SQL database which is way beyond the scope of HaTcH's program.

btw the payment was already sent in.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alright, I've sent in the payment, but before I sent it in I did some research and I found that some whois services showed the domain was expiring Jan 15, 200

It appears that duo's hosting company keeps domains purcahsed from them 7

Some didn't, so I uncovered after a question to MY hosting company where I purchase my domains that the domain is not available for registering because this is how her hosting company works.

Here's their chart

DOMAIN EXPIRES

5 days - It cannot be registered and can be renewed only by the person who purchased the domain.

30 days - During this time both the person who purchased it AND any third parties can renew if FOR A FEE. The fee is a "redemption period fee" which according to duo's host is $100 in addition to the regular renewal fee.

5 Days - This is the deletion period. During this time the domain should be deleted.

Domain deleted - Anybody can purchase it for a regular domain price.

What we can do is start work on the site, but it'll be difficult as I mentioned above I plan to install a CMS or wiki, but it'll be difficult converting the site over to the new domain.

Unless a static website is started instead and we can use relative links so that all it'll take is uploading the files to the new website.

Questions? Comments? Anybody willing to commit?

Head hurting... confused... what payment?

Btw, just edited out some of the "----" because they were stretching the page.

ZeRoRaVeN - January 20, 2006 01:06 AM (GMT)
I noticed but then I wondered that if it stretched it enough so that the edit, delete, along with other buttons would be too stretched for the staff to edit my topic.

:D

Of course it wouldn't been very easy to get around it.

Zoidsevo. Domain. Expire. Domain. Renew.

Did you get any problems emailing duowolf?

JammerLea - January 20, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
What do you mean "the edit, delete, along with other buttons would be too stretched for the staff to edit my topic." That's silly, since we'd have to scroll over to READ what was on the stretched part anyways. XD *fwap*

I mean... you said you made a payment? I'm confused about what that was.

And I never did get around to e-mailing Duowolf. o_o;;;

Meh there was the moderator drop down box options anyway.

I mean I sent the money to my hosting company, so basically while it'd be really simple to register a new domain, the zoidsevolution.com domain is currently owned by her hosting company in which it will take over a month to wrestle out of. Unless we pay 100 bux extra.

Here's their chart

Nope, it's $100, besides $60 is still alot.

Besides I don't see it, I believe I have to regsiter but their register is really long as it'll be used for the domain you're registering with.

Isn't that if the original owner wants it? Gah, confusing...

I'd have just gotten in line for first dibs before it expired and saved the trouble, but I was broke and still am...not to mention I don't really want another domain name.

ZeRoRaVeN - January 20, 2006 02:52 AM (GMT)
No no, even if you were on line and went for those automatic domain signy up thingies it wouldn’t work. Duo’s host locked in the domain unforantly giving no chance of anybody besides duo to renew, and we know duo isn’t renewing. I would ask the host, but I’m afraid that if I do they’ll only clamp onto the domain even longer once they find out that somebody wants it, they want to make money yanno.

Basically there’s a period of time in which a lot of things can occur before the domain is finally released back into the internet. Hopefully somebody with 100 bux to burn won’t come along and claim the domain.

Imagine the consequences, somebody comes along claiming to be duo….starts up the site and claims copyright for everything….what can we do? Nothing, except call in the hackers. jk

Greh. That's why I registered my domain separately from hosting...I didn't want it to get tied up if my hosting did something weird.

Sigh...so we're stuck until we get money or wait a while?

ZeRoRaVeN - January 20, 2006 04:07 AM (GMT)
I've sent in the money already.

yep, and the worst part is that someone else with a lot of money, can register it in the meantime.

1 month at LEAST. :-/

I'm utterly confused... um but it sounds like it would be better if Duo renews the domain, but if that doesn't it work, we pull together a 100 dollars correct. Well, if Duo doesn't renew it, I'm willing to donate money, but how do I do so?

ZeRoRaVeN - January 21, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
Haha, the advertisement on top says Domain Registration-$1.99 oh you just have to be amused with Google's adsense relavent advertising....

I don't think putting together $100 is really a option when we can wait more than month to get the domain at a normal price. I could earn money from advertising, but right now I'm saving money to buy Invision Power Board. Which is $185.

Duo is NOT going to renew it, I talked to her and she said she isn't.

If you can send a paypal donation of $100 that would be great.

Basically we wait, and pray somebody with $100 doesn't claim it.
