I figured it'd be worth waiting. Always is.

This begs the question why didn't they do it in the first place? No matter what company it is I always hate it when they make obvious cash cows.

It might not necessarily be a cash cow. A lot of products simply need to be put out into the real world for true testing before a company can see how it can be upgraded. In-house testing can only do so much. Besides, customer feedback on what people like and don't like about a product also plays a huge role in these things. You don't generally get it perfect on the first try.

Interesting... But I don't think I'll be replacing my DS with it. Heck I don't even use my DS anymore... Except for occasionally playing Golden Sun or something...
Fury OD - January 27, 2006 11:09 PM (GMT)
hmm, makes me wonder if I should get it...I don't know anymore....Maybe I'lll wait a bit longer for something else...

I can't believe people stopped playing their DS. They must not live in places where they have game stores, or they're always last to get the best games.

Wow, the DS Lite is SEXY! I just wish there were some side, front, and back pictures as well. I like how it looks like it’s a more squarish shape unlike the angular DS. Also, am I the only one who's noticed that the buttons and control pad are the same as the Revolution's controller? Along with the more sleek shape, I have a feeling Nintendo is intending to have the DS and Revolution pair up (not unlike the Gamecube and GBA, however much easier since this will be wireless, of course). Perhaps this Japanese March release date means something for the Revolution to, then? Maybe, maybe...
Both the brighter screens and reduced size are needed additions. As more and more people at school seem to be getting PSPs (knew it would happen), I have realized how massively thick the DS is. The DS Lite almost gets rid of the entire top "lid" of the normal DS, however. The reduced weight is also nice, however the DS isn't THAT heavy. Lighter is (almost) always better, however. I just hope the DS Lite will also come in a glossy black because that would kick ass and I’d buy one ASAP.

*pre-orders* I like the big DS more, but hey, I'm a collector. When things get a little too sleek they lose their game-ness and become a cellphone clone. (with the eception of the GBM, large, shiny buttons and a power indicator inside the Start/select buttons *drools*)

Hopefully, the DS Lite will have the Wi Fi version of Pictochat that was mentioned by Nintendo a long time ago for newer versions of the DS after MKDS and AC:WW were released.

Saw
this over on GameFAQs.
That’s a link to a PDF file on the FCC's site with a bunch of pictures of a pre-production model of the DS Lite. It’s shown from all sides, revealing the new power switch and side stylus holder. Engadget has also shown some of these pictures, but not all.
The bad lighting aside I think it looks rather good. Of course, it will probably be a while until I get one, but I quite like the design of it over the current version. Considering that it seems to have been designed to match the Revolution, and there's almost no doubt that the Revolution will also come out in a glossy black, I'm hoping the DSL will be released in a black version because if so that will be awesome.

It'd be better to reply to the current Nintendo DS lite thread instead of making another.

Mmm, sekushii.
I want the DS-Lite, but on the current poorness of my family, it's highly doubted.

Hmm, some more news! First, we have,
new colors! Yep, light blue and navy blue. Sadly, no glossy black :(
Then there's
some more pics of the white version which shows off the new, yet overall similar stylus; that it has a GBA dummy cart; that the touch screen is indeed raised instead of being depressed; and that normal GBA games stick out 1cm.
Yep, that's right. After going back and
doing a little photoshop work I have realized that GBA carts, which are the same height as DS cards, could not physically fit in the DSL completely.
