Dorms are for fun!
There's always something crazy going on, and all your classes are nearby (usually).
I kind-of wish I was still in the dorms, living off campus and commuting isn't really as much fun. Especially when you're living with non-students who share none of your interests! (Or tastes in music/food/art/anything for that matter)

Yeah, I hear ya. As I noted earlier, my college doesn't have dorms. Instead we have this "Heritage Hill" area that is a lot of ooold houses divided up into apartments. It's an odd neighborhood. I lived in one of the houses a couple years ago and all the other tenants were professionals... uh... one worked at the local production theater, then there was a teacher, a doctor... I forget what the other one two were...
The apartment complex I'm in now isn't one of those houses though, it's actually a BIG place. Luckily my roommate and I have one good friend who lives here too, so we raid each other's apartments from time-to-time.
