Title: Adult board
Description: only post if you think it's a good idea
Flying Shadow - March 4, 2006 06:15 AM (GMT)
Ok like I said I don't want to get bashed for this, or get people mad and or offended. Now by adult board I do not mean cyber sex/porn ran board. I'm talking about a place (which should probably be a private board, meaning it should have a password) where people can go and basically talk about fetishes/adult material/whatever they want. AGAIN this is JUST a suggestion, I've seen many forums where they do this. PLEASE do not get mad/offended.
Zelos - March 4, 2006 06:19 AM (GMT)
Only you... If mom found out about what all you do online (and I know a good deal about it...) you'd never see a computer ever again :D
Why not go to one of those boards you mentioned if you want to talk about that stuff? I don't really see the need for such a board here...

That incurs with another question... how many people in the forum have been laid before? How many people will boast it on the internet?

Adult doesn't always equal sex/porn.
That's most commonly associated with the phrase but not the only meaning. People could use that board - if password protected for instance - to talk about things they don't want to post on the main forums. Relationship troubles or milestones, family or personal problems, asking for advice with decisions. I have no doubt sex/intimacy will enter into things at some times but that's not all it has to be about.
*shrugs* My two cents.
Tilly - March 4, 2006 08:48 AM (GMT)
The board has to keep to InvisionFree's TOS, not to mention ZE is meant to be for all ages. There's already a members section, and I really don't think an adult one is a good idea or fits in with the spirit of the board.
Yes, you said only post if you're for it, but I think as a pseudoadminthing I have a right to step in and say something...
I don't mean this in a bitey way, mind, and I'm not mad at you.

I already know that adult doesn't automatically equal sex/porn but its a suggestive connotation of that particular word. Just felt like targetting it to see what Flying Shadow will respond to it. No biggie.

Heh, I thought that's what the "Member's" forum is there for, although it lacks privacy to a certain extent. Heh...

She's refering to this:
| QUOTE |
3.1 Prohibited Content: A board may not contain posts, uploads, links to, or send via email any Content that contains, promotes, gives instruction about, or provides prohibited Content. As the creator of a board, you are responsible for ensuring that no prohibited Content exists on your board and that no part of your board violates the Terms of Service. Prohibited Content includes any Content that breaks any local, state, county, national or international law. Prohibited Content also includes: (a) Content that infringes upon any rights (including, but not limited to, copyrights and trademarks); (b) Abusive, threatening, defamatory, racist, or obscene Content; © Viruses or any other harmful computer software; (d) False information or libel; (e) Spam, chain letters, or pyramid schemes; (f) Gambling or Illicit drugs; (g) Terrorism; (h) Hacking or cheating for internet/online games; (i) Warez, Roms, CD-Keys, Cracks, Passwords, or Serial Numbers; (j) Pornography, nudity, or sexual material of any kind; (k) Excessive profanity; (l) Content that is invasive of privacy or impersonation of any person/entity; and (m) Hacking materials or information. Repeat copyright infringers will have access to InvisionFree terminated. |
If your going to proceed, its your risk. You'll better back-up the forums.
Capitila - March 4, 2006 01:23 PM (GMT)
I don't think an adult board is really appropriate, the average age of the forums is quite low, and it'd just be filled with the intricacies of a 15 year olds love problems. A teenage hangout style thing could be more fitting for some of the members, but an adult section would deserve to be filled with adult topics and conversation, which wouldn’t happen.
Talk to your close friends about your fetishes and experiences, or take it to something more private - broadcasting them on a forum isn't exactly adult behaviour.
Fury OD - March 4, 2006 02:55 PM (GMT)
<_< ...An adult board?...Are you serious...*she is*...Um..Seems like a good idea, but Im going to feel fricken left out..
Im 17, and being an adult means 18 or 21..Then what about people who changes there birthday, just to get on it..Or people who lies and say there adults and there like 11 or some sh1t..What if someones like 13 and are super mature for there age....Just thought I pointed out some problems...
The Zombie - March 4, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)
 WTF?
Um, I think I should point out that no one here really knows for certain the age of anyone on here. Not that an Adult area thats password protected wouldn't be a bad idea, but we would have no way to verify someone's age. Plus, what if the password was leaked and a 13 year old got in and got mental images and scars from what was being talked about?
I personally say, that in this instance, it would better be kept in PM's for privacy if anything.
Zelos - March 4, 2006 06:25 PM (GMT)
Hehe, FS is only 15 and she's the one asking for this, you have to keep that in mind
ZeRoRaVeN - March 4, 2006 08:39 PM (GMT)
This isn't going to happen, as Tilly pointed out the TOS. And invisionfree doesn't even allow adult avatars or similies. So basically we can talk about this all we want, but it isn't going to happen.
@cap ready to spring $60+ for a board backup? That's IF's price, well considering they convert the DB to something useable by a regular Invision Power Board v1.3
König Warrior - March 4, 2006 08:55 PM (GMT)
Yeah... I'd say no. It wouldn't be allowed based on the TOS like Tilly and others have already stated.. plus.. it's just a bad idea.. enough reasons have already been given. The whole point of talking about personal things is that it is still personal.. it's not if you put it on a message board.
Hetman - March 5, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
Anyway, it wouldn't go far as Capitila stated that the average age of these forums are relatively low.

Ok yeah apparently everyone is taking this the wrong way and getting upset like i thought might happen. When I say adult I DO NOT MEAN PORN/SEX I mean, liek some people said, a place to talk about relationships, and or things that do not fit into the catagory of general.
Anyway, I would like it if an admin or mod could delete this topic before it goes any further. I did not mean to get people on the edge or upset.

We do have a "member's section" forum. If you wanna filter off the 1-10 post maggots, you can always put a post requirement to see the 'members section' and you may go all emo there about relationships. If your going to be really personal, your better off talking to a close enternet friend (is that your intent?) than being public knowledge to the rest of the forum. If that's not enough, make a blog. Not everyone wants to listen a 15 year old relationship problems...

No way! Locking it will be just fiine. If anyone is going to suggest anything like it, they can always refer to this topic. :)

Why would we be upset? Quit exaggerating and misinterpreting things!

I don't even know where that came from. Why would we need to backup the boards? Did you read my post or just feel the need to be a tool? I was against the idea of an 'adult board'.
If you're referring to my mention of a Teenage hangout type forum that could certainly be implemented within IF's ToS, but we don't need it. There's even a directory on the Invision Free board listing which is dedicated to teenage forums. And the appropriate discussion of adult topics is within the ToS, but considering some of the ages and maturity of some of the people it wouldn't be appropriate here. And by adult I mean mature topics - adult discussion isn't sex and porn.
This topic seems to be done with, I'll leave it open in case there's some further intelligent comments to be made, or if Zero wants to clarify whatever it was he was trying to say.

Sorry for posting here after it's been closed, but just thought I'd clear this up.
I think Zero just confused you with Hetman's post where he said,

I don't even know if it's possible to back up an InvisionFree board at all, however, and I doubt they'd let you restore a board they deleted for breaking the TOS anyways.
