...the scroll lock key. Can anyone tell me off hand (without going to google or wikipedia or whatever) what the heck scroll lock is/does/is used for???

Umm... scrolling? I don't know D:
But I can tell you that a mac keyboard doesn't have it. It doesn't have a num lock key either... I never noticed that ^^;;

The scroll Key USED to change the function of the up and down arrow keys so that they were used to page scroll but with the PageUp and PageDown keys, it's no longer needed. You'll only find this on computers that run on DOS, that's how I know this because my middle school used ancient computers.
