Title: Dreams are mysterious things.

Steve - March 28, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
Originally, I was gonna post this in the spam forum, but this could just as easilky go in "General" and the poor general forum has been neglected a lot lately.

Steve took a mid-day nap and had a weird dream. Normally, I don't remember my dreams, but I just had a strangely vivid one so I thought I'd dictate it before I forgot about it.

Yeah. In my dream, my mom bought me a bunch of new feeder bugs for my Bearded Dragon, Stompy. For *some* reason, the feeder bugs consisted of some rather bizzare creatures; namely, these big, red, milipede/worm thingies, (wormapiede?), tiny little scorpions, and Bullet ants.

For those of you who do not know, the Bullet ant is a tropical ant species; the biggest in the world, the workers growing up to an *inch* in length. They have an insanely powerful sting; entemologists equate the pain/power of it to getting shot by a bullet, hence the name. Now, back to the dream...

Ummm... stuff happens involving the worm things that I've sortakinda forgotten. Turns out the wormapiede things were completely harmless, and actually kinda cute, given their bizarre looks. Smehow, though, the Scorpions and the ants escaped. Logically, I'm frightened by the idea of scorpions and inch-long superants from hell running loose in my apartment and I call an exterminator.

The exterminator asks me where the queen is, like it's no big deal and I'm just dealing with some ORDINARY hell-ant infestation. I tell him I have no idea, and that there *shouldn't* be a Queen anyway because these were just randomly selected ants I recieved, not a whole colony. He corrects me, saying that once seperated from their queen, certain workers will emit a pheremone and come into receptivity, and turn into queens. (I know of no actual ant species that does this, (although I think some bees can do this), nor do I see how it could be possible without any males around to fertilise them; all I got were workers, and worker ants are female. Buh? Stupid dream.) Then the exterminator just kindasorta leaves the story without doing anything. Once again, Buh? Um, Okay, whatever, see ya later Mr Plot Device exterminator guy!

Soyeah. I'm reduced to having to stop the infestation myself. I check inside Stompy's cage, since it has the most ants in it. For some reason, Stompy is not harmed. Has be been eating the ants or somthing? I don't know and I don't care, I got him the hell out of the cage. xp I use the metal spatula thing I use for sifting out poo from the sand to flip over various objects in the cage looking for the queen, (including Stompy's plastic cave, which isn't currently part of his cage's layout. Continuity error, ahoy!) Inside the plastic cage, I see my Uromastyx, Spiffy, covered with ants! (Another continuity error; Spiffy isn't currently living with me; Stompy's size intimidates him, so he's been living with my mom.) I grab Spiffy, pluck the ants off him, then continue with my work.

Digging through the sand, I eventually found The Queen. She's a huge, ugly mofo. A full three inches long, bright red, (in contrast to the black workers), with a hugely muscled thorax and gigantic veiny wings. I briefly flip out, then stab the pregnant dog to death over and over with the edge of my poop spatula. Once she's dispatched, I run to my kitchen, grab a can of bug spray, and spray the rest of the ants.

...Once again, Buh? Why didn't I use the ducking RAID right from the start!? Stupid dream.

So yeah. I killed the queen, finished off the colony, and I woke up. I wish I knew how to interpret dreams; one other dream I had in recent memory that I remembered vividly *also* involved ants. Does this mean I have some kind of subconcious Myrmecophobia? I'm certainly not afraid of ants in real-life; I love ants, I think they're fascinating. Are the ants a stand-in for something else? Is there some kind of freaky Freudian subtext to all this? Why does my dream read like a bad monster movie? Have I been watching too many? Where did the scorpions and the worm things go? Why didn't the exterminator DO anything? Hrmph. Stupid dream...

I forsee a bug problem in your future.

Or maybe you just don't get enough oxygen when you sleep...?

Oh! Or maybe you'll date an exterminator and realize that the relationship is fruitless and that they are emotionaly abusive?

Or maybe not.

Ooh, I had a vividly-remembered dream recently as well. Two of then, actually.

Dream one: I was with these two other people, and we were arguing to some else about something. I can't remember what. But I remember the two people so well, which is strange because I never remember anything from dreams.

Dream two: The same two people from the previous dream were walking around an area.. which was a lot like the area I'm supposed to be developing for Graphics. But it was developed!
.. So I am now using that in my actual project XP

I wish I had a bearded dragon...

Dreams: hallucinations caused by your brain trying to interpret the firing neurons during REM stage of sleep. Current theory of firing neuron is the brain strengthening synapses, especially movement.

Trust Steve to dream about reptiles and bugs. XD

I had a dream a while back that seemed very meaningful at the time, so I wrote it down.

It involved me running to catch a tram, which then turned out to be going the wrong way. I sat down on the tram anyway, intending to stay on until it got to the end of the line and started going the wrong way. Then I opened my backpack to ask my friend what she thought (cause she was in my backpack, see) and all these uncooked, broken noodles were spilling out. But the noodles were telling a story, a really good story. My friend wanted to read it, too; she said her sister stayed on the tram until it went around four times because she wanted to get to the end of the story. I said we weren't in a hurry and went on reading the noodles.

There was also some complex stuff involving ninjas in a swamp.

Then I looked at what I wrote and just cracked up laughing.

I've had some strange dreams myself. The other night me and my girlfriend (lycan) were like, running from dinosaurs like in Jurrasic Park. Then we ran into what was like the room from Panic Room, and the Velociraptor had smashed the glass and was trying to crawl through a window that was impossible to crawl through. Then it got stuck so we ran out and we came into this museum thing, and there were a bunch of redneck hillbillies sitting there with guns watching a bunch of caged dinos. Then I made a comment and they shot all of them and me and my gf ran outside and there was this big dragon flying around and I called it Bahamut for some strange reason and we ran back inside. We sat on the bench as the hillbillies were still shooting the dead corpses yelling "Git R Done!" and we like made out and stuff lol....

Thats my dream lol.

Ants will eat you piece by piece when you're asleep.

Ants are beautiful.

...anyone who listened to what my dreams were about, like Jammer or LD, will know that this is nothing compared to what happens in my dreams.

Fuzzy, what I said doesn't even tip the iceberg. :P

I had a dream a few weeks ago..I was with my friends and there was a large army of People dressed in blue..We were somewhere on a block..Anyway the army charged at us and I got scared. My friends seemed to multiply, and they charged at the others..It was war . I had been nervous as hell, and took out a manga book..Beams flew from it, and rained across the people in blue..Then a wave of bullets sheeted my friends and was coming down upon me..One of my dogs dodged in the way and took all the bullets for me..But then Another wave came about..I Covered my eyes tearing up as a blue lite block the other bullets..I then woke up after I saw my dog on the ground..

And then I woke up sweating like crazy..

Premonition. I get those dreams ALL THE TIME, but it doesn't stop me from being scared as hell every time I have one.

The most recent dreams I've had include me having to beat off a ferret that was attacking my chipmunk, and going on a vacation to Ireland with my family, only to get attacked by a bunch of knights and an evil wizard. And then I somehow turned into a wolf and then a dragon and ate people.

But that was fun :)

My dreams.....are twisted, reality-bending, Ra-only-know's-what figures of my mind. My dreams make no sense whatsoever, so I won't even try to describe them.

I do have deep sleep dreams, though. I remember seeing the orange of a Gul Tiger. ._.;
