Found a Pokemon quiz, felt nostalgic, filled it out.
1) What was your first Pokemon game?
Pokemon red. Red is my favourite colour.
2) Can you remember who your starter was?
Charmander. Always charmander. It's the only one that doesn't suck! :D And it makes the game more challenging. Only kitties start off with Squirtle and Bulbasaur.
3) Did you ever complete the Pokedex in any games?
Ummm... yeah, once, in red. Almost did in Silver as well but my gameshark asploded my file. D:
4) Did you watch the Pokemon anime? Who was your favourite character?
Yeah, I watched the Pokemon anime. Can't say I have a favourite character, they're all lame. Although Team Rocket is vaguely amusing.
5) Do you still watch the anime?
Occasionally, when I'm in a masochistic mood. I stopped watching it during the Johto series, when it first occured to me "Heyyyyyyyyy. This show is running around in circles!"
6) What's your favourite Pokemon type? Explain.
Not sure. Fire and Rock, I guess. A lot of the ones I like are rock and fire type.
7) Who's your favourite Pokemon? Explain.
Lessee... I like Mewtwo, because it kicks ass, and it's the only psychic type that doesn't look incredibly stupid. Charizard is nifty (dragonthing!), as is Scyther (Mantisthing!), Tyranitar and Rhydon, (Dinothings!) Kabutops (Mantisshrimp thing!), Aerodactyl (Pterosaurthing!)... to be honest, there aren't too many Pokemon that I like enough to fanboy over.
8) Which Pokemon do you dislike the most? Explain.
Ummm... a good 80% of 'em? Too many random things, too many hideously cutsey things, too many immobile looking things... although Mr. Mime is definately near the bottom somewhere. Ugh.
9) Which is your favourite region? Explain.
Kanto, 'cause it's Old School.
10) Which is your favourite Pokemon series (ie, Kanto 1-151, Johto 152-251, Hoenn 252-358, others)?
Once again, Kanto.
11) Can you say a series Pokedex, without a reference, in order?
Pfft. Hell no. I remember all 151 of the originals and most of the second gen, although I don't think I could *list* them off the top of my head.
12) Do you know all the type advantages, disadvantages and all the super-effective moves for each type?
Most of 'em.
13) Did you prefer Pokemon before the new ones, or after?
Depends on what you mean by "New". If you mean the third and fourth gen? I ducking hate them. Awful, awful designs. Too detailed, too weird, not at all distinctive or memorable or even likeable. I think it's obvious they've exhausted their idea pool. First and second gen were okay, as there's a select few I like.
14) Have you got an Original Character who is a trainer?
Nope.
15) Have you ever wrote a fanfiction story about Pokemon?
No... I don't need to, I've created my own monster fighting comic thingy. xp

Well, someone has to be different from the rest, so I guess that person is me
1) What was your first Pokémon game?
The original Blue version. It was Ruby that got me back into Pokémon, though.
2) Can you remember who your starter was?
I want to say Charmander, however I can't be sure of that. It may have been Squirtle butI have no way to find out which it was :(
3) Did you ever complete the Pokédex in any games?
Not legally, however back in my red/blue days I managed to get all 150 with minimal cheating. Ever since then I quite frankly haven't cared about it.
4) Did you watch the Pokémon anime? Who was your favorite character?
Yes, I watched the original season; then I skipped Orange Islands and Johto, and started watching again while the Dub was halfway through Advanced Generation and the Raw about halfway through Battle Frontier. Ever since around Novemeber or so I've been downloading every new episode :D
I don't really have a definite favorite character. Ash has admittedly grown better over the years and his current team in the Raw (Sceptile, Donphan, Swellow, Corphish, and Pikachu of course. He also used Tauros in the first of the Battle Tower episodes, however I haven’t watched the second yet so I don’t know if he returns it to Oak’s or not) is awesome. Some of his battles are quite impressive as well. May, despite her cheapness sometimes, also has the cuteness factor going, especially with her new Eevee. Brock is probably my all around favorite since he’s just plain hilarious, however. I never really did like Misty...

As I said above, yes.
6) What's your favorite Pokémon type? Explain.
Fire all the way. To bad there’s so few fire Pokémon compared to some other types like Water.
7) Who's your favorite Pokémon? Explain.
My absolute two favorites are Quilava and Absol. I love Quilava because of how cute it is and Absol because of its sheer coolness, along with its cuteness :) Cyndaquil is cute as well but not as cute as Quilava, while Typhlosion is neat, though I prefer Quilava to it. Lugia and Mew are my two favorite legendaries; Mew because of, well, how cute it is (see a pattern here?) and Lugia because of its power, gracefulness, and underlying evilness *cough* Flygon is neat as well, along with Poochyena, Mightyena, and Linoone.
8) Which Pokémon do you dislike the most? Explain.
I don’t really ever give it much thought, however it would probably be pretty much all rock types; they’re just strange... And not cute in the least...
9) Which is your favorite region? Explain.
Pretty much Hoenn. It’s big (Kanto is fairly small...) plus actually has variety in the landscape other then just forests, plains which all look the same, and oceans. I mean, it actually has a volcano and desert, something which Pokémon desperately needed. Now they just need a snowing place...
10) Which is your favorite Pokémon series (ie, Kanto 1-151, Johto 152-251, Hoenn 252-358, others)?
Some people will probably heavily disagree with me on this, but I have to say Hoenn. Oh sure, some people may go “OMG! Look at Linoone! It’s a Furret rip-off!” But I just go, “OMG! Look at Furret! It’s a ferret rip-off!”
Just because the designs are similar, does not mean they are rip-offs.
11) Can you say a series Pokédex, without a reference, in order?
No. I used to be able to with the original 150, however I can’t anymore. I am able to pretty much identify any Pokémon thrown at me, however.

The major ones, I do have trouble with some of the less common type combinations.

I’m really starting to see the differences between me and Steve here :D *Raises flame shield* I prefer the newer Pokémon.
How is detail bad? And the same with weirdness, do you want every single Pokémon to look just like it might belong in the real world? And, considering that five of my favorites are from the third gen with a new favorite rapidly approaching from the fourth gen (Buizeru, an otter at last! With an inner tube around its neck, no less!) I have to say that the new Pokémon sure are memorable to me. Hell, they’re what kicked me back into Pokémon.

Yes, two in fact; Shrike Flamestar and Rayne Jarxis. I also have several other characters in the Pokémon world, but they’re not really trainers.
15) Have you ever written a fanfiction story about Pokémon?
Yes, and proud of it. My current one isn’t finished yet (and probably never will be, considering it’s an open ended OT fic) however what I have written has received very good reviews. I really need to work on it some more, however.

Yes. All my characters are parts of my personality.

Flannery from Ruby/Sapphire.

Drake, also from Ruby/Sapphire.

Not quite sure on that, this is probably one of the few things Steve and I agree on, I’d just go where the wind takes me.

Probably just a normal, roaming trainer with no desire to be anyone special.

When I pass by a Pokémon Gym and feel I’m prepared I would challenge the leader for a badge, however I wouldn’t actively seek out gyms.

Don’t care for anything competitive, however if this was the “real” Pokémon world where things such as EVs and stats don’t matter it’d either be Quilava/Absol or Quilava/Flygon.

I would, and pray tell me, just how is it lame to actually think up your own original story in the Pokémon universe? Can you think of no plotline other then "Gary Stu slept in, so he goes to the Pokémon Lab and is forced to take a Mew from Professor Oak since that’s the only Pokémon they have left. Gary and his new Mew develop a relationship full of love, friendship, and all around goodness! Because he’s the main character of the story and thus ultra-powerful, Team Rocket chase after him wherever he goes so as to forever put an end to his goodness! Oh no! Fortunately Gary owns them at every stop, since they are pitifully weak and have no purpose other then to be Gary’s personal stalkers. Of course he manages to get his eight badges, mostly through helping the Gym leader without any actual battling to be spoken of, and enters the Pokémon League where he is actually beaten by some random person you will never hear of again! Because of his loss Gary goes emo before deciding to venture to a whole different continent since no one there will know of his failure."
If so, get an imagination and try to think of what being a trainer would REALLY be like, certainly nothing like the Anime or Generic Trainer Fic Starring Gary/Mary Stu #56839 portrays it. That is the whole reason I, and several other people write Pokémon fanfiction, to portray the hidden reality that the Pokémon world isn’t all peaches and cream.

Ah, that's okay then, Hetman. I can understand that some people may not personally like fanfiction, I just felt that I must defend my honor as a fanfic writer, and seemingly the only one of Pokémon fanfiction on this board... I'm all alone ;_;
I would go and get some links, however I am to tired right now and can't think very well myself. Perhaps when I've finished part 1 of my fanfic I can post a link on here. Not much great to it right now though, it’s what I have planned for it in the future that excites me *cackles evilly and drums fingers together* My lack of any remorse or pity when it comes to fantasy situations will help greatly in some parts of this story of mine...

Squirtle, because Charmander is REALLY HORRIBLE in the first games if you plan on battling others. Why? Because Bellyzard is NOT in this game. Thus, Charizard is nothing more than a fragile fighter who won't last very long in a VS match whereas Venusaur serves as an annoyer and Blastoise is pretty much the best tank in RBGY.

Ninjask and Kingdra/Dragonite. Tank + Baton Passing without fear of attack. Bring out Marowak afterwards and you'll have a super fast sweeper and a wall to shield it.

Good to see there’s someone else around here who at least has written Pokémon fanfiction. I’m still alone on preferring the third generation, however ;_; That additional question is a good one, though, so here's my answer for it.

Yes. In my story (as well as any future game) I’ve created a whole list of nicknames for the main characters’ Pokémon. It’s not complete yet, but what I do have is as follows,
Shrike Flamestar’s Pokémon:
Cyndaquil/Quilava- Zethro (Means “Fierce Flame” in my own made up “language” of sorts)
Typhlosion, evolved from Zethro- Uriel (The Angel of Flame & God, Zethro is renamed after its final evolution because of plot reasons which would take to long to explain)
Zigzagoon/Linoone- Jehiel (Angel of Wild Beasts, named so because of his wild personality and how he attacks anyone and everyone but Shrike)
Poochyena/Mightyena- Behemiel (Angel of Tame Beasts, named because she is pretty much the antithesis of Jehiel. Instead of being crazy, she is calm and level-headed)
Flygon- Tabris (Angel of Free Will, named so because of how he loves to fly and do whatever he likes)
Rayne Jarxis’ Pokémon:
Absol- Matariel (Angel of Rain, named because she was Rayne’s first Pokémon, plus also means “Premonition of God” which really fits an Absol)
Espeon- Oriel (Angel of Destiny, not much to explain except that there really needs to be an “Angel of Egos” as that’d be her name in a heartbeat)

I don't write Pokemon fanfic, but I've created my own series of comics using the basic "magical battling animals" concept/genre, so I guess that comes close-ish. xp
As for nicknames... I don't usually give my Pokemon nicknames, although I've created a team based on various Kaiju.

I've tried Pokemon fics quite a few times, but I'm not good at using people. It's much easier for me to use a Pokemon's point of view. And since I think Dark type Pokemon are the most unique and afar from the other types, there came my strong point in Pokemon fics. I'm thinking of starting another, tho. Maybe try my luck at a Pokemon trainer fic. Pick a plot, start a few chapters, and see what happens.

Yeah, it's also on Fanfiction.net and thepokemontower.com, although Serebii is where I always update first. My name on all of those is Shrike Flamestar (or just plain Shrike in the case of TPT), however I haven't posted anything new in a while. I'm finalizing my proofreading of my newest (and long overdue, curse you Oblivion!) chapter now, so hopefully I will be able to bump the thread back up within the next couple of days. Maybe even tonight if I hurry!
Don't expect much yet, however. The chapter I'm finishing right now is the one where Shrike truly receives possession of Zethro, there hasn't really been much Pokémon action so far, mostly just character setup. The first chapter does have a different kind of fight that I am very pleased with, though... Be warned though that I’m not holding anything back in the way of blood, cursing, etc. Jehiel and Ramiel’s fights will surely be fun to describe...

Heh, I'm not worrying to much about clichés in mine. In my personal opinion clichés are fine as long as they aren’t over done and you put your own spin on them to make it exciting to read. I shouldn’t have to worry about Shrike becoming a Gary Stu or Rayne a Mary Stu, though since by the end of the series (if I ever reach there, it may take years at this rate...) the plot is going to be completely different then your average OT fic.
If you’re really interested in reading it, it’s called “The Flamestar Chronicles.” I also have another fic on Serebii called “IMPULSE” that I only wrote one chapter for, but that was more of an experimental story to try out some ideas I had and try to find the genre I liked. Just do a member search for “Shrike Flamestar” (be sure to include the “Flamestar,” there’s also a plain Shrike who is NOT me) and I have links in my sig to the threads if you want to read them right now. Feel free to leave reviews for TFC, but not IMPULSE (I don’t want a dead story to be bumped up).

I nickname my pokemon all the time.. currently there's nothing, because my brother saved over my game, and then I saved back over his, and I haven't gotten around to playing it.
But in my last game all my pokemon were named after Zoids.. at least, all the ones I could think of Zoids that were similar to them. Pikachu was a Soul Tiger! I was Seijuu and my rival was Zairin~... which now brings up another possible question.. what do you name yourself when you're playing?

Yus, I did a search and started reading. I'm about halfway, and I like it so far. Zelos reminds me of Axel from Kingdom Hearts, since he has the hair, clothes, and steals a fire-type Pokemon. Chances are I'll leave a review once I finish both chapters. I usually worry alot over my characters becoming Mary Sues, so I kinda skipped out on writing for a bit until I can think of someway to turn half of my fics around. >_> But I got a new Pokemon fic idea. I'm going to try and create an explanation to why Zangoose and Seviper hate each so much. What fun. =D

Brock for some reason. I also liked Team Rocket. I dressed up as James for Halloween one year (2000). Just recently I actually FOUND the nayru jacket with the giant red 'R' printed on it again. If I were to wear it along with my normal regular attire, I would be the ULTIMATE hipster...
I stopped watching when they ditched Brock though.

Raticate + Charizard
Everyone attacks charizard first. And that's fine, cause Charizard goes down fast. But then they don't expect something as subtle as Raticate to be near as fast, or as strong with a completely non-elemental attack to attack them and actually do a lot of damage.
