Title: DEGREE!!

JammerLea - May 7, 2006 04:40 AM (GMT)
I am now a recipient of the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from the Kendall College of Art and Design. I can't believe that my years at the school are finally over and I'm now about to jump into actually starting a career, if I can get my hands on the right opportunities and work hard.

I overheard a faculty member telling some other students that KCAD is the only school in the country with THREE school colors. They are Red, Yellow and Blue: The Primary Colors. Rather appropriate for an art school.

I had the honor of carrying the banner for the Illustration department. This is only because I was first in the list alphabetically, but still, it was cool that I got to do that. I was nervous and excited over the whole event, I didn't think I would be that excited, but... I guess it was the atmosphere.

My family came for the event, which was nice. I was happy to see them all: grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. I don't get to see them often really, certainly not with so many in one spot. We ended up going to TGIFriday's for lunch.

I HOPE I recieved enough money to get a new, decent computer, or at least be close to affording one. I REALLY need to upgrade, being that I was a Digital Illustration major.

My roommate got me the boxset for "Jing: King of Bandits". It's really funny, because she decorated the packaging with scrapbooking stickers. XD

Where am I going to go from here? I can't say yet... I have a few options, but I haven't quite decided where I want to start. For now I just want to take some time to relax. <3

I'm so proud of you. Even through all your struggles and complaints about school you were able to pull through. You're one of the few people who are able to say that they have a bachlors in illustration. It's something very special. I hope you're able to achieve everything you dream of, because, to me, you seem like a person who will not let go of their dreams so easily and give up. You tried hard even when it seemed as though you might not even be able to make it for another semester at school. I was very impressed with that. You've inspired me to be more optimistic and to have hope that I can go to school and finish no matter how long it takes.
Congratulation, Jamie. You've earned it. And good luck!

whoot! Go Jammer! ^___^

I start Uni next year, so I've been looking around. Still can't decide what I want to do. I went to a information evening last week in an attempt to narrow it down.. but I think it just made it worse O_o

It is hard to choose with so many options... plus the fact that many people end up changing their majors...

I went to a National Portfolio Day when I was in high school. It was being hosted and Kendall and I pretty much got accepted to the school then. o_0; I was very lucky there. XD;

Well done jammer. Speeking as the pooradmin schmoe who ahs to process leaves and cancelations managing it in the 3 year timeframe witout ducking anything up and having to go on leave, or drop out n come back later, i s a major achievement. go you.

"Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations" :p

Seriously though, great stuff. I'm starting my Bachelor of Engineering with Honours degree and it's insanely hard. So hard that I've had to spread my "intermediate year" across this year and next (first year is general, then we choose which branch of engineering we want to major in).

Degrees are no walk in the park so again, congratulations :p

I've still gotta gget into effort mode and work on my resume. I'm still mad that they never taught us how to write those. DX But I'm getting help through the career services, so HAH.

Now I just need to shop around for a new computer~<3
