HYPOTHETICAL:

If a new ZOIDS forum were to be created and offered to bring together the entire zoids fandom, would encompas every aspect, with equal representation (elections) for who (from each contributing forum) would run it, would you join it?

Probably toward yes as long as I don't see the ZE staff dominating the forum, won't replace my current forums I visit, but more of a novelty.

But it's flawed. You say the community will lead it and the head-admin must step down. Unfortunately the board doesn't work like that, there has to be an head-admin and they step down when they want to. What if a bad head-admin is elected? One with bad agendas?Can't be ousted by anyone else.

And then if you say the person hosting the forums (if it's hosted) then they hold the power. They can edit databases without admin, who needs admin power when you're the hoster?

In theory, yes, in practice no, 'cause there's too many things that I know would explode and/or get in the way. All the bigger forums and the like would just go "hey, use mine" for starters...

Not sure... For one thing, who would be the mods? The same mods who mod in the mod position in Zoids forums that they can mod?<- that didn't make sense, did it? For something large like that, will there be terms for the mods so there will be fewer power trips? Things kinda need to be changed up sometimes so that way, all the mods ideas don't assimilate into a giant smitey blob of coffee-flavored cookie dough that wants liger zero to be the mascot now and forever. Then again there's a problem right there, where are all those mods going to come from? Can regular posters eventually work themselves up to a good position, maybe voted in by non-mods? Uh... my brain cuts off here, I ran out of things to type right now. :wacko:

No, whats the point? All the current Zoid forums already focus on mostly all aspects of Zoids, and as well have their own dedicated fanbase. It could easily be everythig you describe, but would never gather any visitors, but people surfing for amusement, because those who already like Zoids already have a forum of which they reside. Thus that new forum would do no good, and die shortly after forming. The forums content is not what makes it successful, its the members who bother o post in it, and the volume of such.

Also, it would be pointless for a culmination of forums to create a mega forum, as their own members are happy with their forum, and would feel no need to post in both forums.

It WOULD be a good way to mingle with other forums, however, unlikely it would last. Once peoples curiousities are feed, they will leak back into their own forums, and forget about the jointly maintained one.

Hypothetically, the new forum would do some action in the first week or two, then quickly die, and be relatively pointless, and useless.

Now, if it had been a merger, then all Zoid fans of the main forums available, would have no choice but to either join that new merger forum, or just not attend a Zoid forum anymore.

If MMM, ZEF and Pheno merged, it would become the biggest, and more active Zoids forum available in English, but MMM has some enemies, Pheno would never consider it, and ZEF has not enough active members to make merging with us worth while.

Pointless in either sense in my opinion. Some forums with a lot of active members at once becomes a job, than an enjoyable hobby. IE: Adult Swim Forum. but since you are not speaking of a merger, please excuse my comments in regards.

Probably not. Collecting all the zoidsfans means collecting all the unsavoury zoidsfans together too. Not to mention that people tend to get stupid when they cluster together and so forth. Phenos is big enough (perhaps even then it's too big) for my tastes and then there's the matter of who wil run the place and you know egos will get in the way.

Allright then, I just wanted to gather some feed back from more than just Zero and DrkX. Its a nice idea but is never gonna happen.

Its a good idea Hatch. It would be nice for a new forum and site to be made, without the idiots, and losers that ruin the current ones, and with all the data and info you could possibly muster form all the main sites combined, however, its just like likely to suceed.

I agree with Mystick, Phenos is too big. Too many people, and among them, a lot of stupid, or ignorant people, who can easily ruin a thread, or even the forum itself. I like Phenos Forum, but not some of the members, so I never went back shortly after I joined it years ago.

In theory, great idea.. but.. myself and others have tried similar things on other types of forums and it never worked. In fact, it even got very ugly.. So I suggest staying away from it.

Edit: This includes mergers and semi-mergers.. You need REALLY REALLY cooperative and non-power-hungry folk to do it or it will not work. Once incident was where the entire merged site was divided amongst two admins because the one did something the other didn't like, blah blah blah, got very ugly, and good old xXfriedenXx had to stop people from trying to kill each other, and so on and so forth. :blink:
