Ok.. The age old question! :P
And considering everyone here is from someplace different, we should get interesting results!
If your choice isn't there, pick the one that you hear most often then. =D

It's a remote! Duh. :P
Hehe.. Zapper. That's one I've never heard.
Who calls it a checker? *curious*

It's a remote!
It's also a thing to prop up one's laptop on for added air circulation when one is not using the DVD player. Well, it was there, the laptop was getting too warm...

WEIRDO.
I've also got the laptop up on pieces of paper folded into little footthingies, but when I had them on the front they escaped. Someday I'll get a proper stand for the thing...

The 'always have to search for in my room when I wanna watch tv because I keep misplacing it' device. XD;

The Remote. Or as we call it in my house: "Give me the damn remote" remote. Or the: "Where the Hell did I put the remote?" remote. >>
I hate when people lose the remote and spend forever looking for it, yet are too lazy to get up and change the channel normally. o_o;
cerberus381 - August 20, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
My parents call it the clicker <<
Our remote is a piece of crap. So now the remote's name is 'Crap'.

I use legos. Because they decided to put the intake fan for mine on the bottom, thus making it hard to use on one's lap.
And it's a remote. Channel-changer is what my grandmother calls it. :P

Pentium 4 M = toasty, so I know what you mean about frying laps...
I had several TVs as a kid that were too old to have remotes. I liked the black and white one 'cause it got good reception, but the color one was scary. It'd refuse to show stations above a certain number sometimes until you hit it in just the right spot, which was vaguely creepy. I don't mean wooo possessed creepy, I mean is it shorting out and planning to set on fire creepy :p.

Flicker? who calls it a flicker?
Let mostly everyone I call it a remote :)
PlushRayseTiger - August 21, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
I call it a remote or sometimes the "that rectangle thing, y'know it changes channels and stuff", but only if I'm in the middle of a brain fart. :P
Tilly - August 21, 2006 03:56 PM (GMT)
Don't forget "where's the...uh, the thing?" "the remote?" "yeah, that thing!", as applied to many "thing"s.
HaTcH - August 21, 2006 05:02 PM (GMT)
I guess I shouldn't be suprised, most young people seem to call it a remote, where as older folks seem to call it something different.

I call CDs "albums" often, despite never having owned a record player (I had cassettes and then CDs). So...um...so there.
HaTcH - August 21, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Lol.. My mom still calls some CDs 'LPs' as she had most of them on a 33 1/3 Vinyl record... Of which I now listen to on occasion. XD
