You're supposed to spell stuff out before you use an abbreviation in case people have no clue what you're talking about (like me). Of course everything was plugged in.

And of course I'm online, this computer hooks up directly to the internet. -_-;;

Welp, tips for getting a home network online and talking to eachother real easy:
1. Be sure all your computers are in the same workgroup

2. If you are using a router (and not a switch!) set all your computers to get their IP addresses automatically (DHCP). This is usually pretty straight forward from both sides (that is, the router and the individual computers.

3. If you're using a switch (which you probably are), then there will be no DHCP and you'll have to set your computers to all be on the same subnet (I usually use 255.255.255.0) and all have unique IPs in the range 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.100.100. My house (before broadband and router) used to be configured like this:
My PC->192.168.1.1
My mom's PC->192.168.1.2
My other computer->192.168.1.3
and my printer->192.168.1.98,
all on the same subnet 255.255.255.0 and all in the workgroup 'mshome'.

This network varied from computer to computer, Windows XP, 98, and 95 all talked the same language and shared files and the network printer.

4. Test all your cables before freaking out that your network doesn't work. (Try pinging other machines)
