Title: Port Forwarding?

The Zombie - April 13, 2007 05:15 AM (GMT)
Alright, I've tried looking on Google, but I didn't find much info that helped. My problem is, I'm using software that requires an Internet connection, using a specified port, such as port:36333 for example. I input the port in the Application and Gaming section of my router along with my static IP address. I also set up permissions in my firewall to allow the program to connect, as well as permissions for the specific port(s). However, I still get told I'm behind a firewall, and that I have a NAT error, which makes the software's internet connection slow as a turtle. Which is ironic since I have broadband... Any help?

EDIT: Nevermind, my firewall was being gay. I switched to my other one and the problem went away.

So, you're trying to use bit torrent (for legit purposes, I presume ;) )

Well, I'm glad you solved your problem. But if you were interested in knowning what might have been wrong this can help. If you're using a blue, Linksys router:

In your router's firewall config ('Security' tab), there are boxes for
Block Anonymous Internet Requests
Filter Multicast
Filter Internet NAT Redirection
Filter IDENT(Port 113)

If any are checked, this could be the source of your problem, especially 'Block Anony...' and 'Filter Internet NAT...' Make sure those aren't checked.

Ofcourse, if you were blocking the program from the internet all together with a software problem, that doesn't help either :P

Azureus actually. XD (Actually, I'm doing a MMORPG, and the tech support guy told me thats what the problem was.)

Oi, I hate Linksys.. XD

I switched to my Zone Alarm and everything was fine afterwards. XD
