My computer sucks now. Games that worked before now freeze when I'm playing. It could freeze just two minutes in, or 10. Therefore, I'm not going to buy PC games anymore until I get a new computer, and keep in mind that's going to take years.

Even before my problems started, however, I wasn't too keen on getting Sims 2 anyway. I don't want to lose all my families from the first game. I have cool skins for them and stuff.

:D just confirmed my copy of the game will be dispatched tommorow so i'll either have it then or the day after. i hate when computers freeze up call of duty keeps doing the same to me but its completely random and only when my mainboard overheats :lol: i should be buying more fans instead of games... best thing to fix most problems is get all your stuff backed up and format your drive, create 2 partitions on the drive; one for windows and one for all the other stuff then everytime you need to reinstall windows all you need to do is format the windows partition and not the other stuff, its really handy when games don't work, just format, reinstall and then update windows after that most things are fixed, just the slight problem of most programs on the other partition not being in the registry but its simple enough to save the registry details and loading them back up later..arggg zoids on in 15mins g2g

Unfortunately, I already reformatted my computer several months back to fix the problem, but it didn't fix the problem. I don't intend to do it again anytime soon. Oh well, at least SC3K and The Sims still works (I think). I'm a paid member at http://www.thesimsresource.com :3 I just love that website.

dam you!!!! i can't afford to join TSR ....i guess your gonna have to download me some stuff :lol: i'll post some sims 2 stuff here when i get it assuming i don't actually attempt 72hrs of straight gaming..again..lol, i did nearly a week once solid gaming the deal was i make 10 million credits on star wars galaxies and then i would give my body its much desired rest :P lol.

try updating windows, what windows you running?

My problems appeared when I was using Windows 98 SR2, but when I reformatted, I could get Win 98 to configure me to the net so I had to upgrade to Win ME (geez, it sucks) and I could get to the net afterwards, but my games still freeze. I need Win 2000 or something...

TSR's rates are going up though. They used to be 6.95 for 2 months and now they are 7.95. It's a tad expensive for me 'cause I live in Canada, not the US. I love the houses people upload in there though. Pretty much all of the houses I use came from TSR, as well as pretty much all of my Final Fantasy skins. My other non-FF skins came from other websites.

There's your problem. ME has more problems than XP, and that's saying something.

I -know- it has problems (why do you think I said it sucks?), but I was forced to upgrade after I couldn't connect to the net anymore in Win 98. I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. Besides, I started having the freezing problems when I was still using Win 98, and it carried over in ME -_-

I can vouch, WinME is a pain in the butt sometimes. But as long as it does what I need for the time being, I'm not upgrading. My parents have Win 2000 Pro now and THAT drove me mad this weekend. I don't know, maybe it's their computer in general, or how the kid who fixed the computer set things up... but the directories on the C Drive are so confusing. >_< I wanted to kill something.

ON TOPIC

I'm not really planning on getting Sims 2, what with lacking the RAM to play Sims decently in general. But I will look forward to seeing screenshots and such. ^^

And yes, TSR houses are nice. @_@ But I haven't played my game since I started college. v_v;

i used the sims 2 body shop, but until i actually get sims 2 i get berely any clothes and stuff so that kinda blows cause i gotta make everything myself until then *installs sims 1* :D wow the graphics suck and i'm gonna get really bored in about 2 seconds but i'm sooooo bored

*SIRENS!!!!* news just in: a reliable source told me that you can take AVI's and put them into the sims 2 game folders so your sims can watch what you want...can anyone say..Guardian Force ^^ :lol:

8 is the limit...but you can have house parties anyway so invite sims from other houses, its all a question of money, i just started again with us and no maverick and i only just managed to get us the basics as of no me, eric and hatch are in the army cause it pays 350c a day and u and shippu are...in school...st and jammer...are...ermm...lazy/cooks i plan to get a painting thingy for jammer so she can paint for $$$ and then get st a computer XD maybe she will never work because someone needs to trash the house and make sure its clean XD

I downloaded a rip of the Sims 2 music and I gotta say, the mode themes (neighbourhood/build/buy) are a lot better than the elevator-type music they were using in the first game. It's a lot more catchy in my opinion. The radio station music is great too. Hearing Sims speak in simlish is really quite funny :3 The songs the Sims sang in the Superstar expansion pack (simlish and all) can be downloaded from Maxis' official website. It's great when companies let you download their music.

The first game had Mp3s in the directories so I'm sure the same can be said for the sequel. Dig around in there for the music.
